  1. oh. sorry, I didn't know that the grease zerk area is missing. I've been looking at them, it looks like you unthread that collar then pull the slip off.
  2. ... why don't you just rebuild the double cardan of the shaft with the good greaser?
  3. export. note that it is also right hand drive.
  4. where the heck did you find a 120mph speedo? pete has retrofitted an electric speedo to his wheeling truck, IIRC.
  5. you should pm me what you paid. this one was about $300 underpriced, IMHO. I'm not prepared to pay $1000 for a bedside, but maybe we can figure out it's value.
  6. The truck that I need a bedside for will never see more than 1000 miles a year again in it's life...it is my first EVERYTHING when it comes to projects. before I had it, I had one car...a beater vw cabriolet. I learned how to lift, fix, do 4x swap, non-stock motor swap, custom exhaust, welding, fabricating, interior, how to rebuild a trans, how to rebuild a motor, how to swap rear ends, how to replace glass, refitting electrical systems, fuel systems, EVERYTHING. add that it was a father/son project, and this thing is extremely sentimental. I hope to one day be able to trust my kid enough to say "yes, you can drive this for your last day of school"...and hope to God that it doesn't turn into "yes, you're going to pay what it would cost for that to be fixed, then you're going to learn how to do it". This truck will hopefully be around my family for another 40 years or so. heck, maybe I'll be like the guy who got buried in his corvette (would be a waste)...idk. but end result is I'm the kind of guy who needs OEM replacement parts rather than halfass used steel. and the bedside that I found was $75, with a dent in it still after 2.5 hours of work done to it. it was one of those where it got dented and this body shop/wholesaler bought it to fix it.
  7. good luck correy...that really sucks.
  8. Not a big fan of fine art? :dunno: art is making something from nothing, not turning something useful into something that won't be used. I'm probably a little prejudice because I got screwed out of one about 7 months ago...the company that had it said they'd hold it for a week, as I had to drive 4 hours to get it and couldn't take a day off work to do that...well, the day came, I drove up to get it and called to make sure it was still there, they said yes...get there, and find out they put it out with scrap because the idiot on the phone couldn't remember to write SAVE on the side of it. I have been searching desperately for one since the 3800 got hit....that's almost 2 years now.
  9. putting it on the wall is the absolute crappiest idea I've ever heard of
  10. I would desperately like to buy it lol
  11. any chance that tan carpet is in good shape? I'd be interested in it... make sure you grab those riims...they're worth some bucks. -Pat
  12. :D this one's going to be dd'd through next winter and the body will be restored the following spring, along with maybe a new motor. I'm putting a d44 in the rear, 3.73 gears with matched front, 3" lift, and my dayton timberline a/t's (31x10.50) on american racing rims off of the 3800. I hope to find another swb roll bar for it as well. before I start driving it, I'm going to do the rear main, oil pan, valve cover, intake/exhaust, tune up, new serpentine, all fluid changes and new MORE motor mounts and new trans mount. I want this thing to be a kosher DD with zero chance of mechanical failure. I also want the mechanicals to look good...when I restore it, I won't be doing much work in the engine bay immediately as the body will be the main concern then.
  13. alright....we're going to need to look for an MJ for you, because I need a daily driver and this is gonna be it...I can't afford to go drop any more money, and I'm out of time to look.

:rotf: Yeah right... Ladies... THATS a better joke. Rob L. :rotfl2:    Rob, you should know, there are some Ladies on this forum. There is one that does not post on the open forum much, but PM's me for parts to keep her '88 MJ plow truck up and running  So, I guest Girls can drive MJ's too :dunno: Now I got to get the horse picture out of my mind :shake: I know we have a few women on the board, but seeing them is like seeing a diesel MJ : We know they exist, but only few are around, and even fewer surface on the board. Unless your Pat. Then you see one everyday. Jerk. :fs1: Rob L. :D wildman, "guest" is an incorrect spelling used in that type of wording. I think you meant to say "guess"
  15. not a conversion...that's original 4x4. trans is removed because of bad slave, master, and clutch. I have all of the reciepts...the lady said it came from the dealer that way. It's probably a dealer install *shrug*
  16. blown motor, trans, and needs driver's side of the bed as well as cab corners replaced from accident/rust.
  17. started on the interior stuff today... dyed one seat tan... this is what it used to look like cleaned the *cringe* "rust" that was on the floors, and bedlined them. I still have to pull the lower trim and the center console stuff out so I can bedline the trans hump and modify the factory rubber floor mat to work with the tuffy lockbox that is in the truck. put the seats back in because I need to drive it in the AM...didn't get to the driver's seat because I wasn't sure how long it was gonna take to dry. I also replaced my old style RC adjustable control arms with new style ones. I'm less than impressed with the fit as the lowers contact the shock mounts at basic ride height...so I know they won't flex worth a damn on a 6.5" lift. they're just temporary until I get time to build long arms. the old set were junk after 8 months of use and proper greasing, so RC sent me the new style on warranty. it worked out...the old set gives me the UCA axle-side mounts that I need for the longarms, plus a bunch of nice poly bushings for them too.
  18. I know where a 90 or 91 pioneer longbed with a factory meyers plow is, just on the west side of janesville...$1500 takes it. it's fairly rusty, but low 100k miles, needs a fuel pump and a new side ram on the plow. basic interior, bench, dummy cluster IIRC, shift on the column 4x4. 4.0 auto, and IIRC it's a metric ton with d44.... pm me if you want the number. I've been holding out because I want the plow... running across MJ's has never been a problem for me...this makes number 17 or 18 I think, since 2004.
  19. lol... wade, you can probably have the rims from me. I'm most likely going to put wrangler canyons on it. brent, no...I can't. add the fact that I basically got paid $200 to get a decent daily driver comanche project, and it's a good deal. as for the nice floors, and rusty rockers...my old 89 was just like that. I can 100% guarantee without looking closely at it, that it had side steps on it for quite a bit of it's life...that's the absolute guarantee that the rockers/cab corners on an MJ will rust out before the floor...all the snow/salt sits on them, but no water rinses them. at the moment, the plan is to daily drive it unless jakeman has a good deal and wants to buy it. I need to verify it runs by putting a bellhousing and CPS on it before I invest the time in putting a good clutch and slave in it...but at least the only thing I need to buy is a slave cyl and master cyl and then it would be running and driving (I have a brand new clutch for one :D). so, hopefully get it running/driving in the next few weeks so I can park my '87 in my storage garage and forget about it for awhile. I'm sick of having an ongoing project truck that's lifted and gets horrible mileage as a DD. at least this thing I can toss together, and worry about the rockers/bed later on.
  20. Image Not Found :rotf:
  21. lol, sorry...was typing d30 while thinking how the only thing better woulda been d44 rear... -Pat
  22. I was driving, minding my own business, on my way to pick up the title to my brother's '89 comanche so a guy could come buy it today, when I saw something that caught my eye....a '99 4 cyl 2wd 5spd xj, and a comanche eliminator. I did not want another MJ right now, and needed a DD xj...so I looked @ the xj...no dice. someone busted up the ignition on the column, when you do get it to run, the bellhousing lets out a godawful noise until you punch in the clutch. the front end was a bit smashed up, and he wanted $1000 for it. I offered 500 based off all the bad things, knowing I have the parts to make it 4x4 and fix it up, but no dice. anyways, I stopped next door and asked about the eliminator...and bought it on the spot. it's a 1990 4.0 5 speed (ax15) 4x4 (np231) d35 rear d30 front 3.07's factory sunroof, decent headliner split rear (broken pass. glass) bucket seats tonneau cover (probably in crap condition...it's sitting under the transmission, which is sitting in the back). 193,000 on the ticker. trans was removed because of bad clutch and slave. needs: rockers cab corners rear wheel wells repaired. BUT the floors are in very nice shape. so, I'm gonna fix it and dd it. pics: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found xj I didn't get Image Not Found grand total invested...$250. the rear bumper was brand new 2 years ago and hasn't been used to tow. factory fogs fell off, but wiring is there. she'll need a bit of attention but nothing I can't handle. best thing is, I sold my bro's old 89 4 cyl 5 speed with a complete 4.0 renix 4x conversion today for $450...and this is in better shape :D so, oops...I did it again!
  23. the lawyers and insurance company are wrong. take it in and pay for an estimate to be done. they give you X number for estimated value in the condition it is in (with the damage from the accident not taken into account), and you supply that estiimate to the insurance company. they have to pay based off of that estimate.
  24. DO NOT agree to total the vehicle out. the age of the vehicle you prefer to drive has NOTHING to do with what can and cannot be done to repair it. if the frame rails are in ok shape, and all it needs is a box, you can demand the cost of a full box replacement. you just have to tell them that the truck is sentimental, and prove that it's in good shape.
  25. that noise is the throwout bearing on the internal slave having failed, OR you had a bad pilot bushing...
