    yeah, I just want my drive shaft to stay in when I hit the breaks... haha! Just was hoping that there was some sort of way to figure out how long of a shaft I need without going the SYE route - too expensive for my little beater.

    I'm confused, how much of my slip yoke needs to go into the thing to be efficient enough? also, do you have another link for one of those longer slip yokes? Mine is an 89 4.0L Auto Shortbed if it helps, I don't know what I am looking for!

    HAHA! Congrats, Mine will turn 1 on thanksgiving day. It has been quite the year, can't believe how fast it goes.

    look around for a cheap locker, they are around. Meanwhile put an Aussie in the front! ;) They are around 230 bucks.

    if its on an off road only truck, do it. But you could find yourself breaking axle shafts a little easier, just carry some backups, they are cheap enough. Also, if this is a DD plan on replacing your tires once a year if you weld the rear.

    sounds fried... which sucks, but if thats all that fried your lucky. Turn the ignition to OFF! next time, then disconnect the battery. 8)

    also I can't remember which one had the 297x joints or whatever... I want to say 97+ ???? someone else can probably tell you what year had the best axles for xj's and/or tj's.
