How do I bleed the AX15 or AX5 or AX4?
BIGMASS replied to gavin8or's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any time a master cylinder of any sort runs dry it is a good idea to bench blead it. When I put the brake master in my manche the bench bleader kit concisted of plugs for the outlets. Just keep pumping on that sucker (on the bench) till air quits bubbling up (bout 25 clean pumps after the air stops). -
cat converter flange problems
BIGMASS replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We got a 5th Ave. safetied @ the local Canadian tire once, just cause we needed it right now. They were really notorious for doin $#!& you didn't ask for, so the old man made it real clear that it was papers only no wrench work. They called that afternoon couldn't pass it cause the headlights were slightly out of adjustment. Took a screwdriver when he went to pick it up. -
cat converter flange problems

Ya them clamps is awesome for taking $#!& apart. I hate exhaust work so I wanted it to be easy next time!! I did the whole exhaust at once (well within a few weeks). I did have the cat on without any exhaust after it while I was rebuilding the truck, and I couldn't tell the difference between with it or just a straight head pipe. Even with the muffler the truck really isn't any louder than most V8's -
Have you built your cab floor yet? I love a lowered truck. I'm gonna start my Nissan Hardbody soon with IRS, 360 smallblock w/dual quads, and hopefully 20's. Keep up the good stuff. Looking forward to seeing this one done :beerhead:

I didn't even know that there was a kit. I went to the parts store and they had a book of flanges thicker than my (insert misc. body part here). I took my measurements (upgraded to 2 1/2 pipe) and flipped thru book and found one for under 5 bux. 2 and change for the gasket, I had a piece of pipe under the bench, welded it up, done!! Image Not Found I like band clamps for ease of replacing parts. Magnaflow high flow cat $40 bux @ swap meet Image Not Found into Camaro style knock off flowmaster muff. Image Not Found That kit would have deff saved me a lot of time and hassle -

This one rolled thru just as we finished bagging my buddies car. Our other friend had to pull a couple of trees off the road with his 4X4 Cummins so the two of them could get home. (About 4pm In August) After a Rain Dusk Bugaboo glacier and spire, B.C. Nudder one. I skipped a stone just as my gf snapped the pic!! Upper Bugaboo falls Overlooking Golden B.C. from the top of Mt. Seven A glacier stream in Spillimachine B.C. This is actually my inlaw's drinking water. Kickinghorse river and slews, from fire watch tower on the Three Sisters B.C. Lower Salmon Falls, Brisco B.C.

You could get a sparco or other make of racing steering wheel. They come with two buttons for controling things like nitrous or line locks. I think they usually have wires like a phone cord so the easily spring back when you center your wheel Also incidentally, the VW Touareg was available oversea's (??) with paddle shift. Possible retrofit? http://tm-techmark.com/touareg/paddles/paddles.htm Oh $#!&, look what I just found. Universal paddle shift!!! http://www.twistmachine.com/products/shrifter.html -
Suggestions on turn signals from hell??
BIGMASS replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Almost every signal or light related problem I have ever had on any truck usually came out to be a grounding issue. The sockets on these things are a proper PITA. It has a crappy exposed ground strap that travels down the side of the socket, that may look good (mine did) but are rotten near the bottom (mine were). I don't like to splice wires if I can avoid it so I found good sockets at the junk yard and swapped the good ground straps in to my sockets. One symptom of this was that I had the signal indicator light stay on solid on the dash pod. -
I did the body little by little over 4 years. It is a GM colour

Sorry man. I got way too many projects on the go right now. Here's one. If you got a mig welder I can walk you thru it well enough to make your own. And I see what you're saying now Pete. Never owned a 4.0l before so I don't really know what effect different stock gears have on these things. I will keep my eye out for a 4 banger truck though. Did cherokee's ever come with the 4cyl? Because I would still like to find one parts truck for all or most of my requrements (gears, non-cad front end, NP242) 89MJay, I don't even really know what SMP stands for (maybe I'm retarded) but it's gone now. Gonna have "BABY TANK" stickers made up for rear glass and maybe the door bezels where the power switches normally go. Thanks for the love guys, I apreciate it.

Ya, I built it from scratch. Easier than you might think!

I know it's somewhat of a crime, but I don't plan on offroading. I got too much invested in tha body. That's why I was thinking of 3.55's. I can't even use 5th gear right now with 3.07's Thanks man. The last wing wangs that had the truck liked to just put a tow hook on any lip they could find, so the bumper was rolled up into the box and the tail gate wouldn't even open. They even put the hook on the side lip of the rear spring shackle (both sides) and damn near folded it right in half  A twisted bumper made the rollie an easy sell. Plus I only got about 20 bux tied up in it

First post here. Been reading for awhile though durring the reassembly of my Baby Tank!! Where to start... Bought it about 4 years ago. It was total junk, but it had a 4" lift already and a strong motor and recent trans (pukegoat) and x-fer case (231). Since then it has gotten: Southern box and tailgate Both floors (full) inner and outer rockers on both sides pannel both doors both cab extentions new front fenders new bumper hand made roll pan custom 2 1/2" dual exhaust with high flow cat and muff Basically there isn't much on this truck that isnt new or modified, and what is not will be!! New hand made floors Image Not Found Image Not Found Put the 'ol Manche emblem above the body line to match 4X4 emblem Image Not Found Hand made 3" over end links (swaybar ends were rubbing on springs) Image Not Found Pretty stock interior, but body colour bezel, and 3D head liner in the works Image Not Found Rear shot of hand made rollie. Exhaust was not done in this pic. There are now two 3" chrome tips just under the pan. Image Not Found A few more for your viewing pleasure Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found In the future I will be swaping rear ends and possibly AX15/242 combo, and maybe some nicer rims (I have no rubs now and I wanna keep it that way). With 32's an 3.07's the gears will be comming soon. I have my eye on an auto cherokee with the 242. As I understand it will have 3.55 and should be livable with 32's. I hope I can contibute here and help others as much as you all have helped me in the past. Feel free to comment. :wrench:
