    2 Years

Wow it's been 2 years sence I've been on here, I quit getting on the computer for a while but didn.t think it was that long, Lol. It said last log on was Thu Jan 25, 2007 WOW! Well I,m glad to be back on.
  3. That's just too funny, I saw that years ago and forgot all about it. I was just to Beaver a few months ago to visit friends.
  4. Wow CW I havent been on here for some time, and I have to say the MJ turned out very nice. I havent even looked at mine sence summer parked on hill with other Jeeps been broke so don't want to look at something I can't fix. but yours looks great.
  5. Hey Lee thought I would stop in and check on the progress on here, looks like you need to add to it, or did you give up untill after Christmas, I'm trying to get mine going again head gasket time, did you deside on axles yet I may have found a 80s J20 for a replacement for the Waggy if you did.
  6. Wow CW I havent been on the computer for a while, you shure have been buisy lol nice winch same one on my 90 MJ a little slow but strong as heck great winch Ive had mine now for 14 years and never a problem (knock on wood), great job.
  7. just do a coil spring conversion on rear, and bob the bed take it right to the rear flair, a guy I ran with a few years ago had one done this way unfortunaly he only had it for 6 wheeling trips as he really needed a new master cyl and put it off one to many times lucky for him he got out before it droped 200-250 ft strait down,he ran 6" TJ lift w/2" spacers for 8" total cut the fenders alittle and moved flairs up he was running 37" boggers flexed real well.sorry no pics even if I knew how to put on here.
  8. I forgot to mention you also could go to a spring shop and have them make you new ones (rear springs) mine cost me 150.00 installedand are 2.5"-3" lift w/bushings, you mite also put an add in the wanted section of these forums I mentioned for control arms off a TJ,XJ,ZJ aftermarket of coarse lots of guys going w/long arm systems and looking to sell old control arms I got a set of fixed arms never used because the guy had bought adjustable ones I only paid 20.00 for all 4 well worth a try spacers are cheap try joining a club that gets a discount at the local 4wd shops or check out the vendors in all the different forums they mite offer a dicount remember real jeeps are built not bought and a project built on the cheap (but safe ) is always a bonus, scavange the U-Pullit yards for anything jeep that in good shape and if you don't need it chances are someone else will, and trade up for stuff for your sons comanche. sorry for the long post but its late and I'm just rambling lol.well again pm,e-mail any time and I will try and give all the help, advice, that I can....Sean.
  9. Wow when I started replying to tread no one had posted got a phone call and like 4 or 5 posts lol, anyway I see you are from OH you should check some of the local jeep forums for parts here are some of them hrja.org,noth east crawlers, black list wheelers association, great lakes jeep thing,West Virginia Jeep club, try some of them to find some parts and meet people in your area I'm on hrja and wv jeep club awsome people just as they are here but a little closer for parts and trail rides and such. again hope this helps.
  10. you mentioned a SOA but did not say what you are planing on for front a SOA is only good for rear as you are puting the leafs on top of axle the frt has coils you can go 3" in frt with out having to mess with the control arms anything more and you need to replace the lower control arms.if you find a used lift for a Cherokee,97 up wrangler the supention is the same for a cherokee and frt wrangler so if you are going for the cheap this could help, if you want new National Tire and Wheel has a special on a kit frt coils rear add a leafs and heckthorn shocks, you can use this kit to start with and always add control arms and frt spacers later for 4"-5" of lift and SOA rear. hope this helped a little Good Luck...Sean.
  11. bdjr I am surprised that you got 2" out of ZJ coils we have put a couple of sets on before and never got more than 1/2" of lift 1st set was used coils out of V8 w/47,000 mi and 2nd were brand new a friend at jeep garage gave me also V8 coils and still only got 1/2" lift you are not only person to say you got an inch or two out of them. As for harper.631 I personaly would just start out w/1 3/4- 2" spacers and 30s so you can still flex good, but if you are looking for a bigger lift and tires you can combine these and a 3" kit for 5" and 32s and a little triming or 33s and alot of triming, 4 wheel parts has a great deal on a 3" kit in there suspention specials section for 225.99 and not really my favs but good deal none the less pro comp has a buy 3 get one free during october 150-160.00 each for MTs. or you can look for a used 3,4,or6" kit for a XJ or if you find one for a TJ wrangler you can use the front stuff from it and do a spring over on rear I have done this before and some kits are a little different as to how much lift you will actualy get my skyjacker 4" tj lift only gave me 3 1/2" of lift, also new coil isolaters will help a little also (about a 1/4" if yours are wore clear out mine were) every little bit helps. Good Luck....Sean.
  12. Leaf spring conversion 2 1/2 wrangler frt leafs SOA W/ FSJ 44s or a 44 frt and 20 rear and have at it Guy in my club is doing this to a XJ but putting 4" leafs and running 39.5 Iroks. http://www.jeepinwv.com/ and go to pics buildup on exo/fullsize/leafs you will see it all kind of pics just an idea and best part no death wobble.
  13. Thanks anyway just thought Id throw that out there. as for the paint you talking in the bed if so have you thought about Durabak? Pretty good stuff Ive been thinking about using it or maybe checking on the Cabela's brand as they show- white, dark grey, sand, tan, grey, olive, and black. I mean its no Rhino liner or Line x but for 68.00 a gallon and rool on your self not bad.I just found a guy that has 3 comanche's 2 2wds and 1 4wd 1 4.0 and 1 2.5 and 1 no motor or trans not shure what trans the other two have going now to check on these 300.00 for all w/parts he says so have to run,later....Sean.
  14. Looks good can't wait to see what you are going to do to it next. If you decide to get rid of those adjustable spacers let me know if I can aford them Id be interested. Thanks ... Sean.
  15. Wow that rollbar turned out great looked like it fit a Ranger splash to begin with I used to work for a local Offroad shop and sold/installed a couple, that things looking less and less like a DD and more trail duty all the time keep up good work. Sean....

    new MJ

Wow that looks like my 86 long bed great looking truck you could swap in a 3.4 sfi, bolt rite to tranny easy instal and good power take all the wiring a ecu from doner vehicle we did it came from a 95 camaro/firebird all told we had 800.00 in it w/22,000 mi on it used the camaro fuel lines stainless just rebent where needed radiator made it fit but get everything we even had to go back and get the steering column for the security system, key had a transponder chip its been bypassed now but at first the truck wouldnt run other wise, Cool thing when something goes wrong with a sensor we took it to the GM garage and had them put on computer LOL should have seen there faces when they saw what they were going to work on we asked them havent they ever seen a Comanchero before LOL. Great fuel mi and plenty O power too and with a overdrive trans and 456 gears can you say 31s or 33s oh yea all day long.good luck with your project oh and one more swap to think about ive seen a few 4&5 cyl Mercedes turbo diesel swaps Can you say 30 mpg and same power as stock or maybe a little more make your own fuel Bio-Diesel, Just a thought.
  17. Wranglers (yj) have the same axles just leafs in frt TJ wranglers are coil but are still dana 30s unless you find a rubicon and you are looking at $$$$$ for them go with the full size jeep 44/20 combo unless you find a 90 waggy then you have 44/44 awsome axles put a set of lockin/out hubs on frt, lockers and wheel the nads of that comanche,Oh yea your bolt pattern with the waggy stuff same as 6 bolt chevy found almost every where any junkyard, tire shop, very common cheap to buy used usualy w/tires allready on them just bought a set myself w/36" iroks w/50 percent tread 250.00 on soft 8s. the waggy has a spring under but you can use wrangler leafs which is what ive seen most guys do SOA,or SUA any after market wrangler leaf spring will also work call National Tire and Wheel I bought my 4" replacement spring when I wrecked the cj for 63.00 you really only need to replace frts and spring the rear over and of coarce the shocks etc but you can collect everything a little at a time.
  18. I will have to get some pics of my winch bumper and figure out how to post them been meaning to learn any way lol.
  19. If the AC compressor is still good then you can convert it to on board air especialy if its main duty is on trail try local u-pullit yards find xj & mj section and start scavaging parts xj rear hatches bring a good trade value if in good shape things of that nature and can be had cheap Ive done this for years great way to get parts you need and help out a felow jeeper at the same time I once traded a good set of comanche tail lights and a grill for a good 4.0 HO just see what you can find go often as it always changes new things coming and going oh and I should say watch for wranglers, rollbars, soft top hardware, ect all worth something to someone and some one out there has a good alt and harmonic balancer, and if thats cracked prolly why your mj idled rough. Good luck with yor project.
  20. You should grab those axles they are plenty strong enuff for up to 36" tires and a little hard wheeling 85 waggys have dana 44 frt and 20 rear as mentioned earlier in thread the rear is a one pc wide aray of gears available and the 20 is as strong as a 9" ford rear damnear bullit proof. or a 82 and newer J-20 will have a 44 frt and 60 rear these would be better if going over 35" tires as the rear is alittle bulky. Your other option is look for a 90 model waggy 44s frt and rear. buy the way lots of these axles going in MJs and XJs one last axle combo find High Pinion 44 frt and 9" rear out of a late 76-77 bronco these years have discs up frt check out jeepinwv.com, goto Pictures, fullsize xj project they are going to be running 39" iroks with this combo. 87manche I also want a diesel powered FSJ for a tow rig I have had plans for one ever sence I bought my M-715 and thats all the further I got lol, allthough I have thought about a diesel powered FSJ cherokee or waggy for ease of camping and the little woman prolly wouldnt like the M-715 for crossing country or even the county lol.
  22. Sorry I was talking about the hub where the tire bolts to the tiregate under/behind the tire itself to support it so it won't bounce around and break the welds loose not the whole gate I think you did a kick azz job with your build up and not just the gate. Ive just seen a couple of tires break stuff from bouncing heck I had a stock size spare bust the back of my old cj-5 because I only had Two lug nuts holding it on carrier. Sorry for confusion hope I didnt offend you wasnt trying to. Sean...
  23. Just found this tread awsome job on that tiregate did you or are you going to add a bump stop for the bottom of the tire to hold the weight or the tire to keep it from breaking welds my buddy didnt on his XJ and lost tire going down road ended up bouncing and going through the wind shield of parked car.Although the weld did last 2 yr before it happend.
  24. can't offer any place to get work done as I am in West Virginia but if you need parts theres a guy in Bono TX that owns South West Jeep Sales named Milton Bretz and he is a right guy has a couple acres of jeeps that he sells parts or whole ships all over world. Give him a call if you have trouble finding something he may or maynot have it. His phone #817-556-0525 Ive known him for years from when I lived down there. As for 4wheel parts they changed hands recently and are now owned by same people as 4wd hardware and I think kentrol from what Ive been told so any time a buisseness is taken over you have some slackers especialy away from hub so hopfully they will get straightend up if not I would call main office and talk with Quality Control they will take care of it. Sorry this was so long Good Luck and lets have some pics of build.
