This thread will be updated from now on with wheeling and wrenching.
  4. ok so here it is, after building, driving, and wheeling my 95 YJ on 35's with a 4 cylinder and soft top I was ready for something I could go on real trips with that was somewhat bearable. I always like Cherokee's but just wasn't into so much body and it was near impossible to find a decent one with a 5 speed. After that I started looking at Toyota's because I thought a solid axle swap might be a nice project(at this point I had decided I wanted a pickup). Well I hated the feel of the Toyota's and gave up on that search too. That's when it hit me, a Comanche was in order! Shortly after that realization I came upon a cherry 88 with 160k, orginal california vehicle. Gave the guy a call and $1,800 later it was mine.
  5. swap the 35 if you haven't yet is my only opinion. nothing wrong with leaf springs and shocks back there
  6. any votes for monstaliner in a tintable color?
  7. it's stronger than your stock tie rod yes.. and it will fit.
  8. Image 2 by snowmanche, on Flickr will get back and type out the specs and story after class!
  9. get my new IRO tie rod in and get the suspension worked out, paint and mount my dirtbound bumper, and m8000 that all just came. then wheel the crud out of it in the snow
  10. ^This! I just don't think people understand what they are quite gettting into. And don't forget either heavy duty, or an over the knuckly type steering setup. I just got done lifting mine 6.5 inches and swapping both axles out. Look into the Rubicon Express kit, it was very complete and seems very well made.
  11. check the frame rails and unibody as well?
  12. Yes it will work, but you will need to install a new seal just outside the pumpkin in the axle shaft
  13. Would you order it through groupbuy?
  14. Hmm, just saw the Rubicon Express 5 and a half inch kit with shocks and freee shipping on 4x4 groupbuy, any experience with it?
  15. I was thinking about picking all of the shock/ spring mounts from IRO they seem to ha e good stuff.
  16. Hey guys, I just bought my first comanche! It's a 88 LWB Renix motor and Peugot 5 speed. I just picked up and 8.8 rear end with an lsd, disc brakes, and 4.10's. I also picked up an hpd30 with 4.10's. I have a few wuestions now. I found a full Rough Country 6" lift for a cherokee, but it is just the front end stuff (which is all I need). It come with upper and lower CA's, springs, adjustable tracbar and bracket, swaybar and bracket, and all 4 shocks. I plan to SOA the rear. What am I missing here and what else will I need? I know I need brake lines, sway bar disconnects, spring perches for the rear, new calipers and lines for the rear, and control arm drop brackets. What else will I need? I'm just trying to get an idea of everything before I start. Thanks!
