here is my truck again showing off -
If you buy the complete clutch kit it comes with pilot bearing and throw-out bearing. Or mine did. Good Luck and now its time to go out and finish this job and yes its 12:45 here in the morning I got off of work early so why not. :wrench:
-
i would say its up to you but you have it a part now so................. some people say no and some say yes
-
i would say 4 door because there the same doors as the MJ's
-
yeah i don't have an Autozone here in town so I went out side of town to the weld shop and borrowed his cost me a 6 pack More fun to be had
-
So here is the deal guys I am in the middle of changing my clutch. And the pilot bearing was so dry that when I tired to spin it with my finger some of the needles fell out. :headpop: So I was reading my manual and it says that it will come out by using grease and an old input shaft or wooden dole. NOT THE CASE. If you have the bearing type just go borrow a slide hammer it will make your life easier. I worked on this all weekend and went thru about a half of a tube of grease and half of it is in what little hair I have and the other have is all over the truck and the shop what a mess :headpop: . With the slide hammer it was out in about 10 min. Just a little FYI

i think maybe rocky road or somthing like that edit: here is a link http://www.rocky-road.com/xjrockrail.html and at $360 i think you could build them cheaper
-
nothing but if you think about how many time do you pop of the inside bead before the outer bead of the tire. Some people say that you can use some kind of black windsheld clue to help. here is a link over on pirate talking about differnt things that can be used. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthre ... t=beadlock

I live in town and i really don't care what they think I no thats a bad thing but the are mowing there yard in the middle of the day and I am sleeping. I work second shift so the middle of night is my day and I try to be as quit as i can. I don't run the grinder or use the hammer to much. I built my truck at 3:00 in the morning so this is not new to me just wanted to no if any one else was up.

I got up about 2:30 and nothing on the net so about 3:00 i went out and pulled the tranny and t-case out of the Comanche  Any one ever work just get out of bed in the middle of the night and just go out to the shop and just spend time with your truck or toy. I mean its like 40 degrees out side just peaceful no cars, no kids or wife just me and my truck man I love it.

ok since this got moved to the tech side of things i guess i can throw some info on how I mounted these. Not say it right just adding to this post Ok I found this pic and I think it show really well how this style of beadlocks works. Now just the rim with the inner ring welded to the rim and painted. Then mount the tire like you normally would. Leave the outside lip of the tire hanging on the outer lip of the rim/ring. Then you need to find something for the tire/rim combo to set on I went with a cement block. Then center the tire on the rim and the outer ring on the tire. Then I took 4 bolts and ran them down with an impact until they were snug this will keep the tire centered. Then add the rest of your bolt and tighten in a criss cross pattern.

thats cool because the only ones i have ever seen were the H-1 with the set up that you are speaking of but then again I didnt search for that set up so i could missed them
-
mvusse do you have a link to this rims with the inner sleeve. Because the one that i seen where you cut the outer ring off the rim did not come with that inner sleeve. So if i could get a link that would be great. ------------------------------------------------------- LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW what are conti-rings are you talking about the same thing that mvusse is speaking of

taz here is a good write up using the DIY4x rings. http://www.planet4x4.net/forums/diy4xbeadlocks.php and yes I will take a pic of the rim with the inner ring i think that will help you a understand how they work. But yes you take a standard rim and weld the inner ring to in.

Ok guys some of you guys no that I have order my beadlocks for the MJ I decided to go with a local Iowa company called DIY4x. They were $45 a wheel so $180 and $40 in bolts. And then I went with a 34x10.5 TSL on a 8” American Racing rim. I finally got one all bolted together and mounted on the truck. These are the do it your self type the inner ring just set inside the lip of the wheel then you weld that to the rim and mount the tire on the rim like you normally would leaving the out side bead over the outside lip so that you can smash the tire to the rim with 32 bolts. Some pic:

Big Red-- now with new meats and Beadlocks
Rokhound replied to Rokhound's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
32 bolts and about hour later I got 1 on the truck damn are these things going to be heavy. only 3 more to go and i don't even want to think about how many bolts to go  -
i would also say upgrade the rear axle to something stronger like the D44, 8.25 29 spline or the 8.8 31 spline c-clip. Also think about if you want to lift it now would be the time why you have it all a part.

if you go to Pirate I think its Muddypaws has done it to his XJ I will get the link when they get Pirate back up again.

So the local club had a trail clean up this weekend and I guess my throw out bearing decided it wanted to go out. So I am going to replace the clutch and every thing. So who do you guys like to go with for a replacement??? And how hard is it to replace and should I have the fly wheel ground down/clean up.
