Got the trans out, installed my new clutch master cylinder, removed the front clip and fenders, roughly hung my new 97+ fenders. Ordered up a TON of new parts! RockMJ
-
Yeah, I was under the Jeep and I held a mirror up to the access port and with the clutch being pressed in and out, there is zero movement from the parts on the inside. I'm ordering up the parts as we speak so ill do it this weekend and replace everything in the system minus the hydraulic lines RockMJ
-
Well I am going to try and replace the clutch master cylinder tomorrow with a new unit and see if that fixes the problem. When I was under the Jeep it looks like the lines for the slave cylinder are pretty new so I'm glad to see its not the original one at least. I'm hoping this will fix it and ill be back up and running tomorrow night buy any input or similar stories are certainly welcome RockMJ
-
Well I just tried to bleed the system to see if I had pressure in the lines. With the clutch pumped and held down and the bleeder broken open the fluid is spitting out in a good stream. Still after trying to purge the system of any air there is still no clutch pressure. Really lost here so input is definitely welcome RockMJ

Guys, any chance the clutch master cylinder went bad only? I need to get the Jeep back up and running so I can get to and from work RockMJ
-
I probably should have specified that I was not on flat ground at the time but the e-brake was on. I tried it in my driveway which is flat and I can go through the gears alright, its just a matter of not being able to disengage the clutch to shift the Jeep when its running. Such a PITA lol RockMJ

I'm guessing the slave cylinder went bad. I guess if I am going to replace that I might as well replace the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and the master cylinder. Anything else I should plan on replacing while I'm in there? RockMJ

Hey guys, I was coming home from work today and I stopped to put gas in the MJ and after hoping back in and starting the Jeep something strange happened. I had zero clutch pedal and I could not get the Jeep into or out of gear. I still have hydraulic fluid in the reservoir, there is nothing leaking but I have no clutch pedal. Any ideas? I cannot even force the trans into gear in neutral with the Jeep off. I was able to make it home, although shifting the Jeep was interesting. Input is very much appreciated guys RockMJ

The other day I decided 100% on the color I'm getting the MJ painted in two weeks. Dodge Challenger 2011 Toxic Orange! I also ordered up my new 97+ fenders for the front end swap. The rest of this week is going to full of ordering parts like a mad man to get the Jeep ready for the paint work RockMJ

RockMJ replied to ilovemybike's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I'm doing a V8 swap in mine in the near future and ive tossed around the idea of doing the 5.3. Ive known a few guys who have put them in Wrangler's and loved it. Being as I have the BA10-5 ill certainly be doing the 4L60E. Welcome aboard and I look forward to seeing the V8 swap progress RockMJ -
I really do not miss the snow haha. Looking at those pictures and talk to friends back in PA makes me glad I have 70 degree weather and sunshine. How's the MJ running man? Looks great btw and sorry I have not gotten back to you about the cluster overlay. Ive been busy getting mine ready for some paint and body work RockMJ

Toxic Orange and Mango Tango are the exact same color but I like the sound of Toxic Orange much more than Mango Tango. I chose this color over Amber Fire mainly because of the way the two colors look in low light, or overcast situations. The Toxic Orange stands out and is constantly brighter, but isnt overly bright in the sun. I saw it in person and fell in love so thats the main reason for the choice  RockMJ -

I thought about it but my doors are in perfect shape so I'm going to keep them. My fenders are pretty spent and they were getting replaced anyways so I figured, hell why not just do the 97+ front end swap. It will definitely make for a cleaner looking rig RockMJ -

Just got the painting quote for the MJ and its going to look KILLER! The MJ's paint has a LOT of imperfections from the last paint job so its going to run me around 2125 to get it looking perfect again. Thats with painting the underside of the hood, door jams, etc. They are going to fix all of the dents, paint runs, scratches, and do a heavy metallic paint with a three stage clear and wet sanding. I'm really excited to get it done and ill be sure to post up pictures when its finished! RockMJ -
Awesome rig! Props to you guys on some serious work RockMJ

Thanks for the info man. The mango tango is an amazing color and I'm torn between the two. I will have to compare them side by side to see which I like better. Really close to be honest RockMJ -

I forgot to ask, for those who have done the 97+ front end swap, what exactly do I need. I am going to purchase the parts new (where reasonable) like the fenders and front header panel. What else do I need exactly? I know most wire in the late model XJ wiring harness to the factory harness but is there anything else I need to do? Does everything bolt right up, mainly the front header panel? I have not looked into this swap all that much so excuse my ig-nence lol. Thanks guys, RockMJ -

Thanks for the input guys. Ive always had a love for the Amber Fire XJ's and I'm debating whether or not to do the 97+ front end swap and having the MJ painted that color. My wife is begging me to paint it that color so I can't really argue haha. Ive been really unsure of how it would look because of the long bed but I am confident it would look pretty slick. Thanks for posting the picture of the orange MJ it really helped! And for those asking about the gauge overlays in my MJ. I designed and printed them myself :D RockMJ -
Fantastic color choice RockMJ

My next question is, does anyone know the exact paint code for the 88 MJ Pioneer in the dark gray? My door sticker is long gone RockMJ -

I totally understand. I do plan on lifting the Jeep, but everything will be done tastefully. If it turns out how I have it pictured in my head, its going to look nice. I think I am going to have it painted the factory original gray. That will keep me from having to paint the door jams, etc. RockMJ -
Hey guys, well I am going to be keeping my Comanche after all and with my tax return I'm looking to get the Jeep painted. My ultimate goal is to restore my MJ back to its original glory with some modern technology throw in the mix. A nice blend of the old and new schools of thought. Being as my Jeep is a Pioneer originally I am going to be adding the correct decals to the body in a dark charcoal/silver two tone color. Back to my original thought. My Jeep was originally a dark charcoal color from the factory and I'm debating between having it painted the factory original color or having it painted Jeep's Silverstone Metallic. I'm leaning a bit more towards the silver but I'm torn because I really want a factory correct rig body and paint wise. Thoughts? RockMJ
