now you tell me... ...everything is more expensive out west

    yay 8.8

How are you handling the ebrake? I still haven't firgured one out and i've had the 8.8 in for almost 2 years now

    Junkyard finds

All for under $100: 2 seats (out of a 2 door XJ - great condition!), sliding middle glass (finally I can replace my plastic window!), interior MJ light, universal cargo light (brand new!), 2 canteen's, burgandy headrest, and matching lower dash panel (so I can have a working ash tray!) Hazzaaa
  4. k. I'll try to get that done tomorrow
  5. First off, I tried searching and didn't get exactly what i'm looking for. Anyway, I finally got a replacement rear sliding window from the junkyard and I have no idea how to install it. Has anyone ever installed one of these? Is this the type of thing I should leave to the pros? I already own the window so i'd only be paying for the install. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks
  6. hahah 10-4. Thanks for the input
  7. Thanks guys for the input and pictures. It'd be nice to have as beefy of a set as the one you got Pete! I have a small set back - the fact that I can't weld. I don't know how nor have the tools   For this reason i've been looking for an aftermarket production substitute. I do know people around town who can weld, but mainly rock rails and bumpers. I wouldn't expect to get a deal from them either.. Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way?
  8. Weak. We'll thanks for the input. My stocker is completley thrashed and I'm looking for a stronger alternative..
  9. It won't hurt the paint?
  10. So I removed the pinstripping off the truck today and now there's lines of goo in place of the stripes. Would WD-40 work? Would it be safe to use on the paint? Any other solutions?
  11. Anyone know if this thing is worth a damn? Or if it even fits on a 'manche? I might be able to score one cheap... http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... de=xj_skid
  12. I understand and I was debating about it forever. Ultimatley there was alot of rust in that area and it was an attempt to cover it. I really wouldn't mind doing the whole truck in this stuff, just not in black...
  13. More pics and details here (bottom of the page): http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... 5&start=30
  14. What gauge wire did you use on that accessory outlet? What kind of fuse did you use (if any)?
  15. I spruced up my flakey, unfunctional, and somewhat boring bed. First I started by clearing out the cluttered bed (getting ready for paint prep): Ta-Da! Emptied and washed (I know, I need to take off the high lift mounts): I scored some angle iron that I'll be using to reinforce the top of the bed rails. I'll be using double sided sticky foam tape to hold them in place initially. Then i'll be using eyebolts and the bed box to fasten them down securley to the bed (no welding required!): Both pieces cut (time to relax and drink one down!) : Test fit: Done with all the prep work (took 1.5 days!) and starting to tape off: First coat down! I ended up only doing a second coat on the very bottom of the bed, we will see how it holds up. BTW, I used Dupicolor bedliner (it was less than $50 for a gallon!) and a small roller. This stuff was so easy to work with, I wouldn't really mind refreshing it every 2-3 years! Tail gate down (it got 2 very thick coats): Done! I ended up painting the angle iron with hammerite, rather than bedliner. There's 2 eyebolts, 2 other bolts, and 4 pieces of double sided sticky foam holding the rails on. I might end up putting another eyebolt in between the two that are already on: Now that's a tire mount!! For those of you who have put in your own bedliner, did you put any primer down first? I was really tempted too but the instructions on the bottle didn't say to do so. It turned out alot better looking than I ever expected, and it really only cost me alittle over $60 and 3 days of work (because I move slow).
  16. Soo.. I don't get it. :hateputers:
  17. Which angled braces?
  18. I've been running drop brakets for about 3 years and 2 different vehicles and they have held up tremendously well. I don't have a heavy foot like some people, but I did manange to roll my old XJ twice, and both times the brakets never loosened. Lock tite helps, so does torque'n em down every now and again.
  19. 10-4 Thanks for the clarification...I'm gonna attack it tomorrow. I ran out of wd
  20. Wow, thanks everyone. That was alot more than I ever expected! So, it sounds like I can remove some of the rocker harware and booty fab it back together to be lower.. How much more fabricating is required? I'm really on a tight budget and making completly new seat brakets would be alittle more than i'm willing to put into it. I'll try to atleast get the seat sliding around, otherwise I may just get 2 completley new seats. BTW, which way do i push/pull the big plastic handle? Thanks again dudes.
  21. How do you get your interior lights to stay in?
  22. Paint your engine compartment. Always looks really really nice when theres a nice coat of paint in there - rather than the usually oil/dirt nonsense. Just my 2 cents
  23. High up in the engine compartment - away from potential water hazards. Also you must keep in mind the 4 wires coming out of it. I usually route my wires first then hard mount the relay.
  24. HAHAHAHAHA is it me or does the header have less miles than the girl?
  25. So I finally swapped in the one XJ seat I had and it seems ridiculously tall: For those who have done the swap, is there anything you can do? The big @$$ plastic handle will not budge and i'm stuck in that position...is there a way to slide the seat back? Thanks!
