1 day till go time. Still got a couple things to button up and some packing to do. I'm off work this evening and getting to it. Crunch time for departure. YEHAA -

gotcha. rear hoop is nice Thanks.....I always hope when you see the work I'm doing you like it. This was your baby first, I don't want to corrupt it, just continue to raise it into the adult wheeler it should be. Cheers, Jason OH...and thanks for a great starting point. Your time to detail on interior, engine bay and especially wiring (I hate doing wiring) Its so nice to add to rather than fix a rig. -

Exxon: Thanks for the pictures. You pretty much did what I'm planning for the cab area (no interior cage). Have been looking at how I want to do it for awhile because like you I don't want to try and fit around wipers and such....and it just starts looking to bulky. I like yours, and mine was planned very similair just a plate on sides and going up towards inner fender as well. I won't get any of that done till after Moab though. I ran out of time for jeep and have to be here at work till thursday when we leave so my buddy Wes is getting the bed area finished up for me while I'm working today and tomorrow. Again, thanks for the pictures. I always like input. BTW..I'm running all inch and a half, yours is inch and three quarters...right? -

Wheels are 17's so GY would not fit. Coopers are a great tire on both road and wheeling, I have always liked them. Bought a used set for Moab, but it will get a fresh set after Moab (probably 37's since I'll finally get a 44 in the front after Moab) I'll call ya about the cage . I hate exo's.....so if there is any it will only be over the cab and will disapear into the front fenders, kinda like the main hoop in rear does. -

Another teaser picture..... for those that didn't notice in earlier picture, yes the main hoop disappears into the bed  -
.....Maybe MJ, meant Military Joke....not comanche??? :rotf:

One in the back looks like a Nissan to me.

They are always the first thing I remove from a wheeling rig. I already removed them from the front of my MJ, and plan to remove the rear ones to from the disc brake conversion. I don't like having my rotors always ruined by rocks. I say rocks because sometimes its much more than a pebble that can get lodged in there. I've yet to have an issue with grease or oil getting on my brakes but I see how it could happen with a inner axle seal failure or a sloppy grease job on your zerks. Jason

A couple teaser pictures of the cage. Got to admit I love that Wes has a plasma table. Makes brakets so easy. Also a shot of the beadlocks. -
Well I got the skid in. First I want to say thank you to Motion Offroad for great service and I even got it a day earlier than expected. Top notch and I'll use them again. As for the product. Its a Skid Row MJ skid. Really its a universal for MJ/ZJ/XJ. While SR sells it as MJ its really just the XJ/ZJ kit. I was not impressed with the clearance upon mock up. It sat about 6 inches below the t-case. I do realize its universal and also made to work with a crossmember drop. I ended up doing some fabrication to it and got it within about 1 1/2 inches of the t-case. It still hangs to low overall because of the shape and design but its better than it would have been just bolted in. It takes way to much belly clearance to be anything worth bolting in for real world wheeling and especially rock. In the end I will run it for Moab and replace it with a complete custom fabricated one upon returning home. I'll post pictures as soon as I have time. Hopefully next couple days before I leave. I basically flipped the frame mount part of the skid to raise it about 4-5 inches in the back and get it up higher. In doing this it mounts L style to inside and bottom of frame rail now instead of bottom and outside. My end opionion is that its great for a casual offroader that doesn't need to keep all there belly clearance and isn't worried about hanging up on it, there just worried about protecting there t-case. Once modified I feel its a acceptable skid for medium to heavy wheeling, and only gives about 2 inches of loss in belly clearance. So if your able to do mild modifictions comfortably it is great for someone that only has a cut off wheel and welder to work with (all I used for modification) I do feel the quality of the build of the skid plate is great. Its stout, beautifully powdercoated, has simple intallation in stock form and great directions for installation. Its a great product that is well built, just not built with the hard core wheeler in mind that needs clearance as well as protection. Jason

Oh ya. 350grams per wheel of air soft bb's worked great for balancing. Tires ride awesome. Coming to a stop you here them rolling around but thats about the only way you know there even there. .....also there are weights on the wheel in picture.....those came off before mounting. -

Well Jeep has been kicking my @$$. The transfer case skid was a joke. Hung down 6 inches below t-case and 4 inches below frame rails. So modded it up to within about a inch of the t-case. Got the beadlocks all mounted up and on the truck. Started bending tube for bed cage with help from buddy Wes. I have to work 12+ hour days till I leave now. So left it at his house to get it all finished up. Wow I'm broke down and tired. To many cuts and a sore wrist to show for my work. I'll try to post pics of all the progress in the next couple days. Jason. -

Its a MORE offroad CJ/YJ kit. I basically just had to make the mount for the shackle end. I re-worked the muffler and pipe location and was able to squezze enough room next to front spring hanger to make it fit. If you want better pictures of the fab work at frame end I did let me know and I'll get them to you, probably not till after Moab though. Jason -

Funny you say that, I had to swap the 21 spline to 23 spline as well as putting the 2low in. I was not impressed with the slop the setup has or the initial noise it makes. Hope it quites down like directions say it will. Just could not afford to do a Atlas yet and I got into this whole set up for under $1100...so still plan to eventually go Atlas. I plan to baby the rig at Moab.....lol, well as best I can. I figure its still better than stock gears. Also the stock 231 is in the bed of the dodge already....its taking the Moab trip just in case. Thanks for the heads up.... Cheers, Jason -

My girlfriends and her son stopped by last night. He got to help me start to finish with one of the beadlocks. So of course we signed and dated it. He found it to be pretty cool, although I think he enjoyed playing with the air soft bb's the best.lol -
