  1. Thanks! I'm not seeing that in the '88 electrical manual I'm looking at. Is there a newer one for '91?
  2. Actually, does the stock setup actually go to a fuse in the fuse box? Or is there a fusible link somewhere? I'm not seeing it in the electrical manual.
  3. Well, that's unfortunate. I'm about to get a new 10-pin connector and do it that way... Yeah, I think I'll be solid if I follow that image above. I just assume the other wire(s) provide 12V via a fuse.
  4. Does anyone know the terminal pin sizes/type/brand used for the 10-pin headlight connector? Thinking I would prefer to run a new wire rather than re-use a 25+ year old one.
  5. Perfect, I want them to shut off when the HI beams are on. So it sounds like I don't have to worry about those other wires, and just follow the diagram above. Easy enough! I'm assuming Pin 1 or 9 is 12V fused somewhere at the fuse panel, which would make sense.
  6. I do remember seeing this--thanks for that. However, do your fog lights stay on if you put the HI beams on?
  7. I thought it was going to be fairly plug n play, too. But it seems that I'm not quite following how it's wired up. I'm not sure I follow what you did either? You removed which wire?
  8. I want to add fogs to my Comanche, so I went to the JY and grabbed the headlight harness from an XJ (I think it was a 96). I was under the impression that I had all of the wiring from the cab to the 10-pin connector already there (BRN/WHT wire from the fog lamp switch), but after comparing the two, it seems that I might be missing another BLU wire? On my truck, I have: So I'm missing pins 9 and 1. On connector of the harness I snagged, There are wires in both pins 9 and 1, which I believe are both used by the fog light wiring. Pin 9 on the connector I snagged is a BLU wire, and Pin 1 is a BLU/BLK. This is how the harness I pulled is wired: Does this make sense? Do I need Pins 9 + 1 for this to work?
  9. Yeah, that would be a much better solution IMO. I've searched on here and found reference to 90s Chevy's maybe having something that would work, but beyond that, I haven't seen a suitable replacement. I'm not even sure if this cargo light from a Ford would work with the large rectangular cutout on the cab-side--might protrude too much into the headliner?
  10. Maybe, it’s hard to say since the back portion sticks out so much from the rubber seal. Either way, I don’t really want to cut a huge rectangle out on the back. Unless that’s how the stock ones are?
  11. Nice job--I thought it was interesting that my door check was also in pieces at the bottom of the door. Never seen one that's made out of metal break like that.
  12. Did the headlight harness install/upgrade today. Realizing that the header panel on it is a bit beat up. Good thing I got a spare! I ordered a Ford cargo light for the bed from LMC, hoping that I could make something fit/work... but not so sure anymore after seeing it in person.
  13. Replaced the door check on the drivers side. I’m still baffled as to how the other one broke into pieces. Little by little, it’ll get there!
  14. I think I can probably rule out a cam position sensor—the entire distributor was replaced recently by @kryptronic
  15. Interesting, never would have thought that the transmission could be running hot, causing a heat soak. It makes sense in my mind—since it hasn’t been done, I’ll add it to the list.
  16. I lubed up the one I put in with lithium grease--it seems like there's some type of pipe cleaner thing intertwined with the metal rod?
  17. Fingers crossed! Installed the window regulator today. Wasn't that bad, just had to drill out the old rivets, which was kinda a pain. I stupidly forgot to ask for the hardware from the '96 regulator, so I had to run down to the parts store. I was honestly kinda surprised about how easy this was to do. Now I've got a fully working passenger side crank!
  18. My experience was a bit different than @kryptronic's. I was able to start it again after letting it sit for about 10 minutes or so. Not sure if it could theoretically cool off that fast? Also, the more I thought about it, I'm assuming there isn't much wiring in the cab that would relate to starting the vehicle. If it cranks, I'm assuming that's the extent of the wiring that would be cab-side?
  19. OK, parts update, since I feel like I've ordered a bunch of things... Ordered a Crown CPS + hopefully getting a OEM ignition coil via @eaglescout526, specifically the one outlined by HOrnbrod here: https://comancheclub.com/topic/51677-9192-mj-premature-ignition-coil-failure-fix-relocation/ It looks like a worth-while upgrade. Purchased a ZJ coil to get the bracket that was outlined there as well. Ordered a set of mirrors from Quadratec, which said they were in stock, but now they are out of stock. Hopefully they'll fulfill them. Went by the junkyard and got a passenger front window regulator for $25. Pretty good shape, I think it was from a '96. Beats paying $100 via eBay. Purchased a headlight harness from Amazon, will be doing that upgrade. Purchased a Ford Ranger cargo light from LMC Truck, hoping it'll fit and look nice. Wanted something that looked like it fit era, I think this will do. Will be purchasing the NOS grille guard from @Kaiserman on Sunday Hoping to find a jack + tool kit set Have some leftover Noico 80 mil sound deadening sheets, will purchase some more so I can slap that down as well.
  20. How much for the coil? Trying to avoid getting Chinese crap as much as possible… thanks!
  21. Anyone have the OEM Mopar ones kicking around? Can't seem to find any OEM ones on ebay. CPS - 4638128 Ignition Coil - 5252577
  22. Figured I'd bump this, since I now own this '91 and this just happened to me the other day! Same issue, was cruising along probably going 40 MPH in 4th when all of a sudden the engine cut out and I had to coast over to a stop. Tried to turn it back on, and it would just crank and crank and crank (as if it wasn't getting spark). Popped the hood, checked all wires/plugs/etc. and everything seemed fine. Was troubleshooting a bit here and there and got back in the cab, (was probably about less than 10 minutes later) I was able to start it right back up. I risked it and shut it off again, and was able to turn it on without issue. My thought was that, since I did not have the lower dash portion connected, and I had tucked up some wires in between another section of harness so I wouldn't hit them with my foot/leg, that it may be a wiring issue? It seems that the coil hasn't been replaced and may be original to either the engine or the vehicle, both of which are fairly old. I may start there and replace that, and see where it goes?
  23. Yeah, it was definitely weird. I'm not so sure if it was bad gas or not--it just randomly up and died, I would have expected some sputtering. But, I'll keep an eye on it for sure.
  24. Replaced the leaking movable vent windows with some fixed ones I got from DeadJeep. Uneventful, but I did find this hanging out in the bottom of the driver's door: I guess this explains why the door doesn't stay open. I'll have to see if this is replaceable... if it is, it's not going to be fun. Also, lubed up the cranking mechanism on both sides, as well as the door hinges--but the passenger side crank still just spins unless you physically pull up on the window while cranking it, just for a small section at the beginning. I assume I'll need to get a new crank mechanism? EDIT: Ordered a new door check, inner/outer window seals, and a door hinge pin. Still debating whether I want to spend ~$100 on a manual window regulator, or if I want to head to the junkyard to try and convert mine to power.
  25. Decided to take it for a spin for some couple errands. Was on my way to my second destination, cruising at about 40mph, when it just died on me. Didn't sputter or anything, just died--as if I had shut off the ignition. Coasted to stop, pulled over, would just crank and crank and crank. Checked the engine bay, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. By the time I got back in, it started right up again--weird. The only thing I noticed is that the tach wasn't working before, but then after it died and I was able to start it again, it started working. Seems like maybe a wiring issue--I don't have the lower dash piece on at the moment, so the intermittent wiper module and whatever the other two relay-looking things are were just dangling--I tried to push them back up over another harness so that they wouldn't be in the way while I was driving. Might have been that? Had both windows rolled down, and the passenger side one needs to be checked out--it starts to roll up, but then stops, but the crank will keep rotating as if it's trying to "catch." I was able to pull up a bit on the window, start cranking again, and I was able to get it up all of the way.
