  1. why? are you looking for the lift affect of the zj springs or just have a set to replace. curious, because i will be putting zj coils on mine this weekend and will snap pics if you are interested. bill
  2. this will work ;) borrow one of your wife's good teflon frying pan(or buy a cheapy) and use the bottom of it as a backing against the sheetmetal. it will absorb alot of the excess heat and stop the burn through. works also for filling little holes(or bigger with patience) but you have to be able to access the back of the panel. bill the pipe dream kid
  3. sorry i was just excited for a response, i meant d-35 and a 5 speed. but thanks pete now i know i should just file this under pipe dream for now and be happy with what i got
  4. ok guys got a chance to convert my manche to 4wd. possible dana35 front axel/t-case and 4speed manual off fo a 4.0. as well as front and rear shafts for a longbed. mine has a 2.8 and auto trans so i won't be using the tranny. will the t-case bolt up or not? should i try this? it became a daily driver since my daughter is 16 and took my explorer. Or should I just leave it a 2wd and post the gear for sale. :dunno: :???: is there something i should know? axel gearing needs to be the same? lost in delaware bill

  6. silly me, thanks pete i'm not confused anymore. welcome and nice err truck. bill
  7. what the h*ll is this that ain't no comanche :huh???:
  8. where did you get your fuel cell? and how much was it? is it comanche specific? found a pinhole leak in mine that rotted the bed out. bill
  9. i made my own spacers using hard rubber composite tire chokes(spelling?) made 4 2" spacers hollowed them out with a hole saw bit and slide them on slide the springs back on and voila spacers. oh you also have to glue some hockey pucks on the bottom mounts of the coils to make up for the increase in travel to the bump stops. and i raised the the stock mounts for the front shocks up 2" to make up ro the travel upwards. wish i wasn't so poor  or had kids ;) or a wife ;) or a job ;) anybody know last nights lotto numbers? :brows:
  10. got 31's on the back and some weight in the bed and it goes when and where all these new fancidanci suv's can't. you will have to work to get it stuck :D
  11. yeah that is a great idea. cw's project got me started on mine(see before pics) but the gas fumes had done way to much damage and left me with little choice  but as i always say "nothin' is ever permenant"(where is the spell check pete)
  12. yeah the ground was a pita for me too. thats why i said to lift straight up first so you don't break it like i did  . besides i luv your truck if mine was 4wd and not a dd i would do the same. there is a ford ranger at a little brake and tire shop near by. he did something similiar but it is nowhere near as nice. must be a jeep thing
  13. before Image Not Found Image Not Found after Image Not Found mine had sever damage on the driver's side due to a pinhole size hole in the upper tank causing the fumes to accumulate in the fender well bill
  14. mine was a birthday present from my kids(6&14). they paid 150 for it and 125 was for the 10 hole yj alum wheels. has been totlaled 2x's(first time 11 days after i got ) none my fault. i've made 1500 in just insurance money :D
  15. he is correct 8 bolts hold the bed to the frame, the only hard one is thedrivers inside the frame next to the brake lines. first remove the one of the bolts from the bracket then loosen the second and swing it out of the way for access. The e-brake has 3 screws and the tank has three hangers that just unbolt. clear all your your wire harness and get a buddy to help lift straight up before moving it out. and that is how you do the bed removal shuffle. CAUTION: there is a member who will see this and then start telling you to cut the box frame behind the cab and weld up the shackles there. then fab up a whole new cage etc. etc. ;) . any more questions pm me. my project is under the link 'how many bolts 1 2 3 & 4' bill
  16. wow      guess your not haulin' firewood or mulch with that anymore :brows: i don't know if i would have that much confidance in my weilding or that tube steel. but it looks awesome, thou i can't do that to mine, it becomes a DD on sept 4. my daugther turns 16 and will be the prime driver of my explorer
  17. what in the blue blazes did you mount the rear shackles to. don't just give me half the info man
  18. thanks thats what i did. only $8 at the mopar stealer
  19. yes the grand cherokee came with a v8 or L6 4.0 engine and the v8 springs are the same size as the L6 but the are thicker gauge for the heavier engine.
  20. have you called rusk brothers in ashely off 229, here is the secret to that place "they let you in based on how you look and how you act". I spent 3 hours there today(so i did something right) got buckets for my mj and rear seat belt acceptors for my explore and misc parts for $50 today. there where at least 20 complete xj, zj rears there. go there tell them what you are looking for and he lets you in. prices when you pay are never the same as when u ask for stuff. way cheaper!!! bill
  21. plz don't start arguing over this  is there an alternative to front coils for the manches. the rumors i heard was ford fullsize coils will work? v8 grand cherokees will work but most yard can't tell if they came out of a v8 or v6 truck. did a search and didnt find anything bill
  22. sorry guys i just wanted some 411 on the soa perches, didn't mean to start a perch war  bill
  23. i know it isn't adjusted i don't use it anyway  . going to hang the tank with some hooks similiar to the original method just need longer hooks bill
  24. yes i know what you are going to say  . I have a time limit to get this DD back up and running. My daughter turns 16 on 9/4 and she will be taking over my explorer which makes me SOL. the bed sits that high because i will be SOAing it soon this way i can drive it and use it and once the soa is in the spacers can be removed and cutdown to lower the bed. NOTHING IS EVER PERMENANT!!!! :chillin:
  25. i think i will just bypass the line and use the good line to run back to my brakes instead of tring to make the 3 new lines i need. bill
