  1. ah gotcha, i have a friend who welds. I'm sure he knows how to do that. thanks man ps. any way of preparing the sending unit before it needs welding, so fire hazards won't happen?
  2. ohh okay, what u mean braze? new term i havent learned
  3. yeah fixing a sending unit is difficult, especially when theyre cracked and rusty. ill try my best tho
  4. hey I'm taking out my entire fuel system fro the tank to the engine. the tank itself is very dirty and dented in some areas. i may have to purchase one, the sending unit had a bad leak on it whenever i fill the gas past 3/5 full. the fuel pump and both filters are brand new and could be cleaned a bit. however if i had to get new parts for the entire fuel system, where would i look? the Dealership does NOT have them. parts I'm looking for.. (on 1990 MJ swb 2.5 4x2) -fuel tank (15+ gal) -fuel pump sending unit -fuel lines (both metal and rubber) hoping these parts will fit with oem fuel pump, and both filters. any ideas would be greatly appreciated
  5. finally got the tank out, all thats left is the fuel filter and the hoses. and yeah i am gonna clean it, that filter is disgusting lol. however i think the tank needs replacing, its dented in many places
  6. looky what i found, on my brand new fuel pump filter.... the fuel system really needs to be cleaned out. i mean everything from the tank to the engine.
  7. whew its raining, dark, wet, and cold outside. but i managed to take the fuel pump out and drop the tank. gonna transfer the gas to my Wrangler in the morning and fix whatevers broken.
  8. well lets say its a great project, covering everything in the Jeep lol. no really, it needs a full tune up, full fluid swap, parts need to be replaced, etc etc. it runs bad now, but still hangs on for dear life, thats one tough Jeep.
  9. to be honest i haven't done that since i bought it 2 weeks ago, no cash at the moment. Its still on the top of my to do list.
  10. sup yall, just drove to Atlanta and back today, it was scary as hell. ever since i started it this morning it doesnt seem to get going when i push the gas pedal hard(accelerating) but it does catch up real slow, takes about 2 mins to get up to 60 lol. i pulled over, pressed on the clutch and reved up the engine to its max and doesnt seem to have problems getting the high idle. however when I'm on I75 going up very slight hills (I HATE hills!) it bogs down alot and speed drops to like 45-50. the gas pedals floored in and I'm in 4th and 5th, and it still aint going. once i get over the hill i can speed up again to like 60-65. but it still bogs when i floor the gas. when i just entered atlanta it was getting worse and i started to smell something burning.. i pulled over for gas as well, popped the hood and saw oil all over the head. the 2 lines going into the top of the head were loose. oil was leaking all over the concrete, but my oil dipstick doesnt show serious loss of oil. and i knew that wasnt good. so i got the tape and held them down real good. arrived at my friends and helped her out. when we were done my jeep had been sitting for a good hour. i started back up and it seems to be fine til i got back on the interstate heading out of atlanta, then it started doing the bogging thing all over again. when i pulled over for gas i tapped the gas tank real good and filled her up. got back on the highway and seems to get some improvement, going 55-60 up small hills. I'm at loss, tomorrow I'm taking out the tank and cleaning it first thing. then put the gas in my other jeep for daily driving. what does it sound like to you? lines are okay and in right places. filter, fuel pump, fuel pump filter, all are brand new and I had a friend from the jeep club help me install them.
  11. okay thanks, and tonight? u mean in the morning :) wish i can go hunting during then, but dreaming is always a good alternative lol
  12. good idea, i got a this set in a pawn shop back in Missouri. paid nothing but 5 bucks for them. and my dad said i was an idiot for buying them, hell I'm still using them a lot!
  13. I'm not taking this seriously but I'm on the lookout for a Longbed comanche, it should have the 4x4 and AX15(5spd manual) transmission. if you have one to sell i'd be willing to discuss. will be trading my shortbed MJ, please no cash offers on mine.
  14. yeah i was hoping for craftsman hand tools so i can use it on anything from cars, boats, small engines, home, woodworking. and use snap on for power and speciality tools. i can't get snap on everything cause its too expensive.
  15. yeah i saw the 400+ tool set at Sears for like 500 bucks, might snatch that when i get the chance. its Craftsman and made in USA as well. it should get most of the job done, but special and larger tools i'll have to get separate
  16. pics of said LWB or bust :D might trade lol i don't think you'd take mine. i got it for 500 bucks, and it needs A LOT of work, guaranteed it runs but still needs a lot of work lol. ;)
  17. kinda bored today :redX: wish i had my own garage full of tools and equipment and about $10k so i can fix up the MJ. of course thats a long way away lol. :wrench:
  18. yeah long bed trucks don't do good off road as their shorter cousins do. theyre strictly used for work only, hence the stronger axle and rear leafs to carry more loads. ps. i like the looks of swb MJs too :)
  19. oh okay.. anyone have a longbed for sale then?
  20. just wait, ill turn it into a monster hauler in the future ;)
  21. alright thanks, and yes i think they look better than the lwb. might as well call the lwb the flatbed ;) just kidding
  22. I'm wondering if my MJ is a long or short bed, idk the wheelbase differences.
  23. On my way to the bank i noticed a big loss in power when i press the gas slightly, aka merging onto major roads. i think its another fuel problem or a cylinder malfunction. so i've got to look into that when i do the tune up. when i got home i decided to check around the a/c and heat to see any problems. the thing is i don't have a wiring diagram so i don't know what fuses and wires are missing. i also tried to repair some of the wires under the hood, damn squirrels... and I'm also puzzled about what else is missing on the dash. i know one spot over the heat and ac is the radio, but whats the bottom one? here's some pics
  24. :shake: haha i won't!
