ah the tanks in the jeep already, i have one photo of the underside, idk if its good nuf

idk if yall ever changed out the fuel pump before, but if you did then you know how it goes in. the fuel pump cannot sit right and the sending unit cover will not seal, even w/o the gasket cause the angles too bad. I'm 99.9% sure its because of the dents in this tank thats causing the fuel pump to sit much higher than its supposed to be. any ideas how to fix dents?

from that angle i can't. has to go in from the fuel tank opening to the exact spot where the fuel pump sits on the tank. I'm thinking of taking it to a dealership and just have them put in the damn sending unit and lock/tighten it for good

fuel tank is screwed up, its dented so badly on the bottom that the sending unit cover won't close completely. now what??

looks like another brand new part that MAY need to be replaced..... @#$%...

got the insides cleaned out yesterday, did a pretty good job with only soap and water. i started painting as well, now i won't have to worry about rust anymore. its on the 2nd coat now, here's a pic. i should be able to put it all back together tonight or tomorrow.

mine needs one real bad, but surprisingly it still runs I'm not sure if its even running on fuel alone... :???:

:shake: no it the problem may be more than just the cps, like if its been sitting a while with gas in it, the tank might be a concern (like mine) or a bad head gasket, etc etc

yeah its worth its weight in parts

tank looks a lot better now, i powerwashed, used purple stuff, shook the hell out of it, and rinsed it out about 30-40 times. it looks better inside and I'm sure itll last a few more years til i get a new fuel system for the next engine :cheers:

or none at all lol. its gonna hold oil based fuel, so i don't have to worry about interior rust for a long time. if simple sloshing around is all it needs, its not that hard to repeat several years from now.

coke don't sound too bad, i know they actually work, just not as strong as the real stuff. everyone keeps saying chains, like throwing a bicycle chain in there? and yeah tractor doesnt make sense lol

yeah rustoluem black gotta clean the inside first, its a nightmare in there.

not a bad idea, i wonder if the steel marbles can help undent the inside of the tank? some ppl have been talking about some kidn of gas tank sealant, is it mandatory?

sup, i just got done sanding off the rust on the outside of the fuel tank. now i need to clean the inside, real bad. here's pics of what it looks like. any ideas how to clean it thoroughly?

if it aint a pos, take it. but my gut tells me it needs more than just the cps.

did a bit of cleaning on the exterior of the fuel tank and some other parts. they where covered in rust... before and after time to clean the inside! then fix dents, then paint!

cleaning tank today, and gonna try to seal off the leak at the sending unit cover.

actually he didnt do anything to it since he bought it lol. first day he brought it home it died and been sitting for 6 months til i came by. go figure :shake:

haha i didnt do anything to it. just drove it home from Florida :D

yeah tune up is still on the list, but the fuel system is also one of the problems, here's a pic from my build thread will check pressure when i install the fuel system again which is why I'm gonna clean the tank and the fuel systems lol

oh yeah, I'm 200% sure the tank needs cleaning its easier than the tune up cause it doesnt cost me anything :wrench:

its already outside on the bed of my MJ. i hosed it off with water so hopefully its clean now.

yeah its already in the wrangler, the gas off the bottom were bad, all black and stuff. I'm suprised 10 of my MJs tank made my wrangler go from 0 to 3/4 lol
