  5. Sup y'all? I bought my MJ a while back and got her running again. Now I've thought through about the things I plan to do for her. it'll be a long build though due to shortage of cash. After driving the MJ for a while I've found some things I need to do before I go major. I plan to make a 1/2 ton workhorse out of it, like a 5.9L, NV4500, and NP231. I need to get it tuned up to new first though. Near-future plans will be included next post
  6. yeah ima have to buy the whole thing, sucks tho, i shoulda been easy on it when i pulled it off to check the fuel pump ground
  7. ah bummer lol, anyways i got the MJ running, put some seafoam in it and found out i have a bad head gasket i need to keep an eye on. motor will be tuned up and rebuilt in the future anyways. glad its running! now i can put it to work :wrench:
  8. okay, i guess the 4.0 is heavier :)
  9. yeah I'm talking about the whole thing. any aftermarket items taht may fit it? maybe i can try to match my headlamp styles with it. if not where can i find factory ones
  10. could be that. i tried finding out if it was aluminum or cast iron, nothing came up. i know the 4.0L is iron tho.
  11. hey I got my baby running again, but the left taillight mount/cover broke off. any ideas how to properly fix it?
  12. got her running again, big thanks to a friend from GAtrailriders.com now another problem showed up, the left taillight cover falls off, turns out BOTH mounts have snapped off. any ideas?
  13. had a couple friends come over and look at it, one said the wiring was bad and the other said fuel pump. the fuel pump seems more likely and i will replace wiring whenever i can :wrench: . damn rats chewed it off.
  14. the 5.9L could be a aluminum block(i think), while the 4.0 is cast iron. same principle with Hemis :D
  15. how about frame only :D
  16. wish i can take pics as well, remember its a wish list and i havent gotten the supplies yet :) I'm gonna get my 2.5 running again, it does sound great, and when I get the cash and supplies ill start building. i gotta consider everything for the full package. like stock leafs and springs aint gonna support a 5.9L lol. i can't imagine the raw power and speed of a 5.9L on a 2000lb Jeep
  17. cleaned the terminals, nuts, bolts, wires, everything with a wire wheel. its all shiny and rustfree now and it stopped smoking. but the engine still won't fire up.
  18. ill try, theres also extra junky wires connected to the neg terminal, is that causing any problems? I'm pretty sure theyre just for junk, and not for the pump/actual parts. the 2nd PO obviously didnt do a good job on wiring.
  19. AGAIN its the same problem, i keep turning the key over and now the negative battery terminal starts smoking. here's a vid
  20. great news, i hooked everything, didnt check relay or nothing, but grandma turned the key so the engine can start cranking. and while i tested for volts the pump read 6.74 volts and was running. now all i have to do is put it back in the tank and fill it up with gas, i definitely hope its fixed
  21. k ill try that now, give me a sec
  22. i retaped the wiring again, and did a good job on it, its plugged back onto the car and I'm going to test the voltage with the Jeep on. and I can't find a fuse, honestly i don't think there is one. as for the relay theres 3 of them, in one spot, which one is the fuel pump?
  23. took the entire fuel pump out as well as the batt. tested it with 2 wires, and grandma said she may have heard "wind" blowing through it. i think it shouldve been buzzing a bit stronger for me to actually notice. here's a pic of what i just did
  24. i just hope there isnt a fuse to worry about. going to test that pump again now
