  1. Freakin OUCH!!!! Damn!!
  2. I used the standard "Dash Install Kit" made by E2 for 74'-01' Ford/Chrysler/Jeepp and it should fit perfectly Kit is $15 Or you can just use the factory radio mounting bracket, it doesn't quite center the stereo in the dash but give it a few bends and it will be close.
  3. Yup the Springs have been reworked with an added leaf that I had put in as well as re-arched. They also measure 26" from front bushing and 31" from rear bushing respectively to the centre bolt. Whoever had the MJ before me might have had 1 leaf added in as they were a 4+1 pack before.
  4. Nope, still a D35 so far will be wheeling next year with it, so it might end up getting replaced depending on what my plans for the truck turn into.
  5. Pretty sure they are factory here is a pic of the springs before they want in They measure to be 3 inch dia for the main spring eye @ frame mount. They also had the same spring keepers as the MJ springs in your pic have
  6. Shackles Load valve I take it from your question that the valve arm is not usually in this location/orientation?
  7. Thanks Great info & timing was just looking at how to do this, I picked up a tailgate from the local wreckers and everything works in it. Gonna swap remove the rusted handle clean it up and paint it then install it into my tailgate which is missing the handle.
  8. So a shot more like this then? Just went out and took a few more shots.
  9. Finally got a pic of the underside this is after the 1.5" rear axle shift. This last week has been insane! Pic of ds slip now, before was 1/4 of the space @ 1/2 inch.
  10. Wired in the new (to the MJ) stereo after spending about a half hour figuring out which wires were what! Found that the rear speakers are good just the door speakers were toast, so installed new door speakers. Now the dash face panel is back on :clapping:
  11. I'll take one
  12. OK, so took off the u-bolts and moved the axle back 1 1/2" to the next hole...dropped right in nice and tight! Only had to drill out a hole in the bottom spring plates to bolt it back together. Of course new u-bolts were used to reattach the axle to the springs. The cost of new u-bolts is a small price to pay for safety. No more noises and feels good and solid, also back to 2" of room t-case to slip shoulder.
  13. Yup .035 (missed the zero there) or thirty five thousandths of an inch, anything is better than the .062 my plugs were at in the Comanche when I bought it!!
  14. mkbruin....don't worry about it man, all are good questions. Yup the springs went back on the same way they came off large bushing at the frame mount, small bushing to the rear shackle. The reverse of what has happened would be my result, if I had switched them around cause I would have an axle 5" further back. IIRC from front bushing to centre pin = 26" rear bushing to centre pin = 31" Stock measurements.
  15. awesome!! thanks Pete. As to your questions, yes the re-arch moved the tires forward of centre and factory spring under(rewelded the new perches at the same angle +1-2 degrees). The rework of the springs involved adding a leaf and complete re-arch.
  16. Sorry let me clarify ......... 2" of room for slip reduced to 1/2" of room for slip, so there is only 1/2" between the yoke of the slip joint and the t-case. No pics truck is at home, I'm having lunch at work
  17. I have a question about the rear leafs, I had to replace the spring perches on the axle and had the springs reworked. Forgot about the fact that the rear axle would move forward with having the springs reworked, as a result my 2" slip became 1/2" of slip and the driveshaft clanks the t-case on a hard bump. My question is since the new perches are setup with holes for moving the axle forward or back can I move the axle back an inch and bolt everything back up on the Comanche springs? I know you can with regular leaf springs but am unsure about these packs as they have the overload bar, will this make any difference? Any input/suggestions appreciated. Will be posting a thread with the work I've been up to soon.
  18. Not sure which medium was used, but this is how my 32x11.5 tires are balanced. I never hear the media and have never had a balance problem yet, i've had them like this for over a year now.
  19. What year is your Comanche? That will determine which wiring harness(if you use one) you will need and whether or not you will find one. I know for my 86 MJ there is no wiring harness kit.....least not around here. Still looking on ebay though! for now I'm just wiring it straight into the wiring harness. Good luck with your install
  20. That is awesome!! I'd be trying to sing as well though not very well. I decorate after December 1st (whatever weekend that is) and it stays up untill New Years Day, after which it all comes down. If I'm gonna decorate it has to be up for a couple weeks to justify decorating, if not why bother for just one day? My $.02
  21. I take it you're gonna do the whole truck in Herculiner?!? Would be interesting to see, as said before truck specs what are you working with!!
  22. In my vehicles I've used either champion plugs, or NGK V-Groove the NGK's were another dollar a pair but they have always run great and slightly better mileage. As for what gap to run them at yeah factory gap which is .35 IIRC.
  23. Thanks for fixin that, I was tryin to figure it out but had other stuff to do last night
  24. the long arm shackles were already on the MJ before, just having them re arced and another leaf added. Love the local truck shop. Great prices and fast work.
  25. That does look damn good, gonna do that to my bed in the spring. Anyone looking for a LWB factory bedliner? Will trade for LWB rollbar.........yeah I know they are hard to find will probably just make a better than factory set with frame tie-ins.
