Freecreditreport.com and others are often a subscription-based service, where the report is contingent on buying their product. If you want to see is what's on your credit report, www.annualcreditreport.com is the only legitimate and free resource. The government decided that your credit report is something you should be able to access (hey, they did something right!) You're entitled to one report check per bureau, per year, so I usually try to get a report from Experian around April, from TransUnion around August, and one from Equifax around December. You don't usually get to see your actual score, but if you're current on all your stuff with no BK's or other negatives, upper 600's and higher is a reasonable guess.

It doesn't have to be from a JY. You could try buying from a member here, or on other online Jeep classifieds. AW4's came in plenty of rigs. Usually, a person has more to lose if they sell you a bad part on a forum classified, so there's more motivation to be honest about the condition of what they're selling. A junkyard is almost always a "you get what you get" operation, and therefore doesn't really care whether the part they sell you works or not.

If you want some other pointers, here are a few sites that may give you a hand. http://www.rickwrench.com/index79master ... paint.html http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... art=1&vc=1 I've heard the trick with rolling it on is to thin it waaaaayyy down, so it's like milk. If you leave it thick, it'll never dry.

Constant power in the diagram I have is tan/red. Unfortunately, my truck has no tan/red, but the parts truck I had did have a tan/red. Apparently, trucks with electronic preset radios had the constant power, as it was needed to remember the presets, while trucks that were just the stock radio may not have had it?

What am I in to? I just wanted a Yard Truck!
tbrand replied to Dougster123's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, a 4x4 with a D44 and the HO motor is a pretty good truck to have, but for 200k+ miles, $3500 sounds high in my neighborhood. Rust will be the kicker - if it's totally rust-free, it may be worth it. If you'll have to deal with rust, I'd pass. You can install a D44 much more easily than cutting out rusty floors and putting in new ones. But if it's going to be a yard truck that doesn't get driven much, you probably could get by with a $1500 example and not be too sad if it gets beat on a little. -
what cherokee parts will fit the comanche
tbrand replied to Goblin22's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, it does. 2-doors won't fit. Also, '97+ doors won't fit without a matching '97+ striker plate welded in. -
Really guys? Do we have to fight over stupid stuff? Sheesh... have a beer and chill.
-
Any of y'all on here have Washington plate "MJ Man?" My wife spotted it today, but only saw the truck from the front and didn't know if it was a Comanche. Somehow she remembered the XJ/MJ names instead of just "your truck," which is what she normally calls it.

Heh, the ad says "some rust on quarter panels, rocker panels and driver's floorboard. Great condition." for that money. So.. yeh or neh? It all depends on the severity of the rust. It has low miles, 4wd and the good 5-speed , but if he won't let you pull up the carpet to check the floors, I'd pass. Prevailing wisdom is that a tired drivetrain is easier to replace than rusty panels.

Thank goodness the MJ isn't internet-enabled - he could have caused all kinds of havoc.

Trying to escape its fate. Good try. :headpop:

Heh! Make me an offer and come get them. I've still got the bench laying around.

Do I spy a FSJ back there?

Looking for a picture of both fuse panels
tbrand replied to snacob14's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Missing the engine control fuse? Yeah, I'd say that's a problem :rotf: -
Well, hot diggity. I've had an intermittent miss/hesitation/backfiring issue since I got my truck, and I replaced plugs/wires/cap/rotor/filters trying to fix it. Finally, today, I sprung for an O2 sensor after reading a few threads that described exactly the problem I was having. Boom! Problem solved. It's almost a different truck now!

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/2202663770.html $3500 seems a little steep for the miles, but it's a 4x4 with an HO motor and the AX-15. It's probably someone's cup of tea.

The original link was to a diff. cover with a drain plug - handy for not having to remove the cover to change the fluid.
-
Re-bled the clutch, re-wired the radio, and rotated the tires. Also, new pads on the wife's car, plus flowers for her and lunch out. Productive day off, to be sure.
-
AX-15 is your transmission, which is the better 5-speed to find behind a 4.0L motor.

The Dana 30 is the only front axle to come stock in 4x4 Comanches. The rear could be, depending on year, a D35, an AMC-20, a D44, or any number of other axles swapped in over the years (Chrysler 8.25, Explorer 8.8, others?)

If the lights on the JY truck are anywhere near decent, and the yard wants less than $50, pull 'em. If you decide you don't want them, there's bound to be someone here who'd buy them.
