  1. I don't know I had a set of 31" BFG ATKOs, 5 with 70% tread and no one would touch them. They were near perfect with a little feathering on two of them, never seen offroad use so the sidewalls were perfect and everything. I wound up giving them away at $50 and the guy was totally floored when he came to pick them up. Still, $10... that's pretty awesome.
  2. Oh I agree, 95%... that's why I only suggested one more category, and even that we can clearly, and clearly would rather, do without. The local BB/Offroad club has 41 category and about 45 active club members. Even if you expand it to the 150 registered members on the site, that's like 3 members per category. It's crazy bad... (what's worse is you can't even get email or any kind of notification or list of your posts or responses). Which are some of the reasons I like CC so much... but really it's the people who come round. Maybe it's the rarity of the comanche, maybe the simplicity of the forum, maybe it's just that people here still think a posted photo of faded slightly rusty stock MJ deserves "hey, that's a good looking comanche"... because you know they're ALL good looking.
  3. $1500?
  4. Personally I totally dig the retro steelies, especially on something like this.
  5. I was just thinking about this, wondering when the companies that make Brutes and brute-alikes would do the 07s.... you know if anyone is producing these yet?
  6. Anybody else not started/not done yet?
  7. Hey I was thinking last night about a question on my TJ and I know other people build or have other Jeeps or 4x4s that aren't Comanche's, and that this is just about the greatest group of people on the net, then it hit me... there should be a section for talking about other vehicles on comancheClub. Here's how I see it- add one section: "Other Jeeps and 4x4s" where members could discuss TJs, Grands, Toyotas, tow-rigs, etc. The breakdown would be like immediate family and distant relative... MJs, Gladiators, Cheromanches, and the front half of uncut XJs would be under the existing Comanche club forum categories and everything else and the purely rear half of XJs would be under "Other Jeeps and 4x4s". Ironically I can't remember the question that I wanted to ask you all about my TJ because I started thinking about the forum and how funny a graphic of half a cherokee in each category would be, and whether Cheromanches count as Comanches.
  8. So, visually can you tell the difference from a C-clip or a non- C-clip based on the diff cover? It looks like the non C-clip is sharper between the two photos (the extrusion of the C-clip seems more rounded)... is this just paint or a visual effect, or is it an externall identifiable feature?
  9. Ha! Well I made a stupid mistake (corrected now) of putting the D30 next to the D44... duh! Of course the d30 is front and you're probably wondering about rear... So question is, is there more than a remote possiblity that something other than a D35 or D44 is under his comanche? Like were they made with AMC20s ever... reason being he doesn't have to compare like, the Ford 7.5" shape for example...
  10. Yeah, I was almost too lazy to even post those pics...
  11. look at the pumpkin shape.... you can google D44 and D30 to see exactly what they look like, choose "images" after googling... (edited) Front Rear
  12. I didn't know engines came with less than 100K...?

    Check this out

Yeah but the toy doesn't come with rust and the engine probably works better on the toy... :) Just kidding. My MJ was FREE! So there!
  14. I've been known to cut the ends off the bumper just outside the brackets to avoid the whole conundrum. Then you can skip the torx and the bracket bolts are easy to reach.
  15. My 86 2.5L 4wd with the AX5 and 3.54 gears and 31" BFG mud TAs took a John Deere riding mower (1974 E112) and deck (detached) like it was nothin. To put it another way, there wasn't any less acceleration with the ~600 lb mower. The proportional valve was working in the back too because stopping was as close to normal as you could hope.
  16. Might as well look for a trailer. Tow dollies are a PITA. You can't back up and your rear tires are still on the ground, plus after all the hookup is a pain for what you get. I had to modify the stock straps to take 32" tires too. Plus it's easy to drive right over the ramps. :) that sucks! I still flat tow for camping or whatnot, but nothing beats a trailer with brakes.
  17. Consider your tires too. I flat towed my TJ from Indianapolis > Yellowstone > Indianapolis and when I got back my tires were SHOT.
  18. Um.. truck cap? I used to sleep in the open bed of my comanche with the gate down (SWB) at work when I was working insane hours and had a break in the middle of the day. Nothing more comfortable!
  19. yeah, that was (always is) my last thought. where are you in AZ? I'm newly in Tucson but my MJs back in indianapolis.
  20. my 88 and 89 2.5L one with AX4 and one with AX5 both had 3.54. 2wd and 4wd too. Also you can check the front axle for a tag. The ratios should match (if it's 4wd)
  21. The short answer is you need to add .jpg after the image name... (quote to see what I've done) The long answer... well I don't suppose anyone is interested! :smart:

    What Radio to Buy?

You mean the $1,799 Pioneer AVIC-N3...? your heart must beat liquid gold brother! Thats the one indeed. I am buying a caddy cts (dd) and I showed my wife that radio and told her thats whats going in it. You should have seen her face, lol! She freaked out and pointed to the 350 dollar garmin and just asked why.... So I told her by selling the TJ I could save that much easy a year in repairs alone. And I don't think I will have much more to spend on the caddy as they come pretty well equiped. Yes, well I'm putting this in my TJ and I don't think my permanent bikini top and $79.00 bulldog alarm are really up to the challenge of keeping this in the dash for long.

    My Big Dilemma

Tcases are all the same AFAIK. I know the NP207 came behind my 86 AX5 and it had a 21 spline input, the AX15 has 23 spline output... "Note: You can’t reuse the AX5 tranny. All jeep AX15 transmissions have a 23 spline output shaft, and AX5s have a 21 spline output shaft. ..." from http://www.jeepaholics.com/tech/25to40/25to40.htm There might be something I'm missing, but I wouldn't count on using the Tcase. Could you/he go with an NV3550 and Tcase (like from a TJ?)?
