well guys i brought another one home yesterday. after the one i have been following in ebay didnt happen, friday night i was searchin the web for a truck. I found a decent 89 short bed 4x4 for 800 bucks. 4.0, aw4,supposedly 140,000 but the speedo cable broke, rebulit tranny last year. i called the guy on it at 9 o'clock then left the next mornin at 5 o'clock with a trailer and drove to pennsylvania to pick it up. got it for 700. it does need an exhaust manifold and a frnt drive shaft but i already have both of those. pulled the rear end out today and began the SOA project. id post pics if i had a camera. o yeah if any one wants an 89 xj for free, let me know soon. its goin to the jy on tuesday. its pretty much usless except for the axles and the 2 frnt doors which have some rot. the frnt axle is a non disco 30 and the rear is a d35.

wow, sorry about the truck but those pictures are awesome
-
the guy wouldnt sell it for $600 he said he needed atleast $800. thanks for saving me

wats better than a nice pair of new steel toes?
-
nice comancherob real nice
-
i got a nice "farm jack" exactly like a high lift jack except way more heavy duty
-
nice find wildman. if i end up pickin up amsees truck ill probably be interested in your interior
-
wow i was ready to pay a 1000 for it see i am really just lookin for a good frame, i have two trannys and tcases and a motor so the mechanics arent that important to me. ive got a full cluster to swap in and two interiors to choose from. as far as the body goes i don't mind a little rust and would probably just do some bondo and a spray bomb paint job for the time being. but when it all comes down to it its not worth a 1000 bucks so why would i want to pay that. I'm just real impatient and want to get a truck on the road. thanks for the input though it made me realize what the truck really is

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-JEE ... dZViewItem ive already got a few bids in. I'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the truck
-
yeah the deal fell through so after the holidays is no issue the only problem is that i have no way to get rid of the rest of the cherokee after the axle is gone. the jy will only take a rolling chassis
-
hey, after pullin the tranny out of the cherokee i didnt feel like doin an axle the same day. dad says ones gotta go before another can come so by by non disco
-
alright guys thanks for the help but when it came down to it i went with the vac dico just because i didnt feel like pullin the non disco out of the cherokee.
-
if i upgraded to the later model shafts would 35's still be an issue, cause theres plenty of jeeps around here that i can grab parts off
-
so if i went with the vac disco id probably put on the posi lock just to be safe. now if i was to lincoln lock the front end it wouldnt make a difference on the road because of the disconnect. but i will lose the option of being in 4wd and having an open front end, right?

nice
-
not sure, but if this helps there both in front of the 4.0 with the aw4 tranny. any chance in these having the same ratio as the d44 in the 2wd truck also a 4.0 with the aw4?
-
ive got the toyo a/ts on a conversion van. no i don't wheel it. i have thought about it but I'm just gald dad lets me drive it on date nights. :brows: but any way the a/ts do wear really well and they have been through many a smoke show when the kids at school don't fully appreciate the 318 under the hood.

this is kind of a thread jack, but not really. i was considering putting a flowmaster 40 series on my mj with the cat and stock diameter tubing. after reading this thread I'm thinkin i will lose power. anyone have expierience with this in the past?
-
well i went to check her out found an early christmas present, a nice d44 rearend, bodys in good shape, bed is mint and i finally got to see a comanche frame with no holes. hes askin 1200 cash but it has some tranny issues, if i didnt have two spare trannys it wouldnt be worth 1200. u guys think its worth it?
-
ok so ive got a 90 comanche with the vac disconnect d/30 and an 89 cherokee with the non vac disconnect d/30. one of these is goin on a two wheel drive comanche once i get the tcase in. which ones is better? id like to keep both but i need all vehicles to roll inorder to have th jy take them away. I'm thinkin the cherokee axle is better just because theres less stuff to break but i may be wrong. any opinions?
-
sounds good i hope I'm able to buy her
-
alright then ill just pull the one out of the 90 its got 175k and I'm not sure about how well its been maintained. but ive got another when it goes. and by the way pete u are the man. i post a question and ur there within 5 minutes. thanks for helpin me out
-
so i called the guy on it and I'm gonna go look at it on saturday morning he said motor runs good but the tranny slips when its cold. now this isnt really a big deal because i have two spares and plan on converting it to 4x4 as soon as i get it. so the real question is am i going to have to swap trannys to fit the tcase or can i use the one thats already there? if i can use the one thats already there anyone know antidisestablishmentarianism would cause it to slip when cold? its a 4.0 motor with auto tranny sso I'm assuming its an aw4

Help removing fuel injector wiring clips
comancheman replied to livesignal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i thought u had to pull the clips off when i did it but usually the harness lets go by just pulling connector side to side -
I'm probably going ot put the rear end from the 90 in any way because its already SOA so the gears will match. Ware is in western mass near springfield, belchertown, amherst. never heard of pepperel before
