  2. Well I have no updates in regards to the gauge cluster. We moved and I’m starting a new job plus my masters program started back up so I’ve been busy! Finally got around to bringing the truck down to the new place to find out someone cut the catalytic converter 👎 made for a awfully loud drive and is definitely discouraging. But the good news is the truck has a garage!!!!

  5. What about the cleaner gauge cluster being all the way empty? and I can’t confirm but I’m 99.9% certain that the fuel gauge on the dirty one didn’t move at all when I plugged it into the truck and started it
  6. The fuel gauge on the 3/4 looks just like the one I currently have with the dummy lights? Or do you mean the circuitry in the back?
  7. I really don’t think so, because when I went to verify the plug was still working with the dummy-light gauges it was fine and I made sure to keep the orientation

  10. This would be the gauge cluster out of the ‘87 XJ Pioneer. Sorry the cover is pretty hazy but you have top left: coolant temp bottom left: ??? top right: oil pressure bottom right: voltage
  11. that is a valid point, I should check that, but I think because the stock cluster is working (Atleast the fuel gauge is), I would assume that fuse is good
  12. I’ve been trying to take a multimeter to the back of the gauge cluster but I’ve got no clue what I’m looking for
  13. I plug either of the new to me clusters in and get absolutely nothing when I key on to accessory or when I start the Jeep. No movement of the gauges at all
  14. The one I pulled looks as good as the current one (no corrosion) but the one I got from someone on here is much worse off.. I might get around to linking pics when I get off work
  15. I know the one from the junkyard was out of an 87 (it’s got the big fuel gauge but also has temp & voltage) and then the one from here I’m not sure about but it’s got everything (RPM, small fuel gauge, temp, voltage, oil pressure). and my truck is an 89
  16. I realized you might’ve meant the windshield trim. It wasn’t too bad, I had to do new clips and it was tedious but went easy enough.. I like the chrome on black so I stuck with the old style
  17. Well. I ordered a gauge cluster from someone on the forum and then got my dash all tore apart and ready for the non-dummy light cluster. Fixed the odometer to match, swapped the oil pressure sensor and temp sensors and then plugged the new gauge cluster in and nothing. Literally wouldn’t move any needles. So I thought I messed up a ground when removing the old one so I’ve been fussing with wires under the dash (nightmare on the street). Went to the JY and pulled another gauge cluster from an ‘87 XJ pioneer and plugged that guy in. Same story. Plugged my dummy light cluster in and that worked so idk if I bought 2 defective gauge clusters or what! Been super hot and the wiring has been frustrating so I’m barely touching the truck in the last couple weeks
  18. Door trim was a piece of cake really… I think it was the older style but you just have to push around some trim pieces and it’s pretty self explanatory once you get after it
  19. Been super hot lately and not very motivated.. finally got under the truck to verify everything is torqued correctly… the bushings all look pretty rough so that’s gonna be my next move. I’m also needing to check the ball joints but I might just go nuclear and replace everything
  20. Holy $#!& nevermind then!!! I guess my only experience with it is on my XJ that’s been running 31s and done some moderate wheeling and a helluva lot of DD
  21. Also worth giving the vacuum lines a good check or just relaxing them altogether. NAPA has the front and rear vacuum harness’s for less than $50 total. You never know if the rubber in those o-rings has rotted or a line has a nice little pinhole
  22. What’s the heater relay got to do being tied in with the fuel pump resistor bypass?
  23. I get not wanting to throw money at a D35, but if you don’t go with oversized tires or do decent wheeling, a D35 is stout enough imo
  24. That’s really damn interesting. So more weight in the bed changes the valve proportioning in the brakes?
  25. Can’t wait to get a full cluster in… been wondering exactly how to do this as well!
