You guys are on your game. I just hooked it up to my DD MJ and same thing, just the side lights came on, no turns. So the sockets must be bad. Is there a solution i can let them soak in? Or just got JYing and get some better looking ones?
-
I'm not going to say your wrong Pete, but i put my turn signal on and my tail light stays lit up and doesnt blink. But, I put my flashers on and only the tails blink. Still no front marker lights. eletrical gremlins.

Ok, here's my problem. Turn my lights on, head lights, tail lights, and side markers come on. But no front markers, (the ones below the head lights) and also my instrument cluster light doesn't come on. What can this be? A bad ground? I just replaced all the fuses. Thanks for any help. Devin

Needing boat loads of advice...

in MO about 45 mins NW of STL. And actually now that i think of it, the interior is no good. It had a sunroof and was rolled, the whole windshield was smashed in and it looked like the tarps didnt stay on and everything was water damaged. So, I'm just gonna steal the drivetrain. Dad is taking the motor for moms 2000 TJ and i get everything else. After that any oddball parts people want then its off to the JY. -

I'm just looking to swap the 4wd over from the 2000 into the 91, maybe the front end conversion, seats etc... but i know the dash is too big of a project for me. Also, what is a suitable head upgrade for the 0331 head? I know it is known for cracking, but whats another option for it? Thanks Devin -
Ok, here's the deal, now that my new 'manche, the 88, is road worthy my 91 is going through some drivetrain upgrades. It has the 4.0 aw4 and is 2wd. I am getting a 2000 xj 4.0 aw4 4wd and an 88 xj 4.0 aw4 4wd for real cheap. Let me know if you need odd ball parts. But my question is, which swap will be the best for the 91? I was thingking the 2000 but I'm not too positive. I was gonna use the 2000 stuff for the 91 and save the 88 axles for my 88 then find an ax15/231 so that way i still have my 5 speed. Help, I've never done a swap like this, just a couple motors but nothing like this. Thanks Devin

From what i've heard the newer intakes are only good for stroked motors. The whole more air more power thing.

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1982231267.html if i had the extra 700 laying around i would go buy it. but being as i just bought another mj not too long ago, i don't think my parents would be happy. if anyone is interested i live about 20 minutes away from there and could go check it out in more detail. Nice MJ. Like the tan interior, and it's not in bad shape. If you decide to get rid of those mirrors give me a ring. I'm wanting a set like that.

$300 MJ. I named her BLUE.
JeepinDev89 replied to JeepinDev89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I'm not actually sure. This is my first Renix. I don't know of common problems that plagued them. Like i said the engine purrs like a kitten, all the gears shift fine, haven't done a real road test yet as a few of the tires are low on air and we currently don't have an air compressor at the house. Any ideas on how the clean the coolant bottle etc? Also, looked inside the clutch matster cylinder and there was like little BB's of stuff. I can totally flush the clutch lines right? But other than that stuff I can't wait to get the title so I can drive it. As little as i have driven it, it's a fun little truck. Although I'm thinking of going 4WD with it, swapping from the ba10 to an AX15/231. Will the AX15 just bolt right in place of the ba10 with no modifications or am i going to need some special stuff to get it done? Again, just want to thank everyone for there .02 and keep it coming. actually the guy called me back today. he's out of town for the next month, so he told me i could just apply for the lost title sign his name and stuff and just have it sent to my house. so thats what I'm going to do. and once its in my hand I'm gonna work on making it reliable. any tips to preserving/restoring the renix system to safe DD after its been sitting for a couple of years? thanks Devin -

thanks brent, i'll work on that tomorrow prolly. just got done pulling a buddies tranny out of his jeep because he's didnt know jeeps came with star bolts on the top of the bellhousing and i had the socket so I'm kinda jeeped out for the day. thats my taco bell. $.99 chicken flatbread sandwhich. i got hungry while checking some things out. :D the grill is really upside down? didn't know. i plan on painting all the front plastic pieces anyway so i'll be sure to put it right side up. thanks -
well planned changed! originally my buddy was gonna buy it then decided not too, so i was gonna and know he wants it, so i'm buying the ax15/231 out of his for the same price! it needs rebuilt but for 75 i can't pass it up.

Well, I picked her up a couple weeks ago and just now had to time to start messing with her. Basics: 1988 MJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 2WD She's not bad looking. Last time it was licensed was '04. One major problem is I didn't get the title, I was "told" the guy would help me get it but he has still yet to return my phone calls. I got her home, slapped a bettery in and after 10-15 mins of trying to start her, she fired right up and purred like a kitten. Leaking lots of gas from the fuel rail, had some turn signal issues, and when i checked the fuses under the dash I tried to pull one out and it desintegrated in my hand, so I replaced them all. Solved the turn signal issue with some new bulbs, old one were all corroded and junk. Only major problem now his the hood will not latch close. Any ideas or opinions on this? Plan is to get the title and DD the crap out of her while my 91 goes under the knife and gets 4WD swapped in. Oh, here's some porn.

My MJ Story.... My first car was one my parents lended me until we could find something I wanted. It was a 90 s10 4cyl 5 speed. I loved it. Although it lacked 4wd drive. I knew I wanted a Jeep, my mom has a 00 yellow TJ she's had since brand new. So i fell in love with them. When we came across a 91 XJ 5 speed with a little lift and some 31's. I was hooked. Well some off-roading and getting stuck in a creek and hydro-locking the motor didn't help the life of the XJ but I did build a pretty mean stroker motor out of it, after the creek of course. Soon after the tranny was going out so I figured it was time for it to go. Soon after I got a mustang and that quenched my need for speed until it sat while I was off at boot camp. Came back and clear coat was peeling on every panel. I sold it picked up a cheap Ranger and began looking for my first MJ. I already knew i wanted one, it was just finding one. When I found my current DD, 91 MJ 4.0 auto 2wd longbox for $500 I couldn't pass it up. It drove 4 hours home and has been running ever since, well short of a blown tranny but it was bad when I got it. And my newest MJ an 88 6cyl 5speed, i have yet to start a build thread on it. Just logged on the the computer did my daily craigslist searching, typed in jeep and there it was. 88 Jeep comanche $300. I called him instantly and 2 days later hauled it home with my 91. The 88 is going to be my DD here soon when I get ready to do my 4WD conversion on the 91. And thats my MJ story. :D

don't mean to hi-jack your thread here. but a 2000 xj would be a perfect donor correct? i plan on swapping the 4wd to my 91 and HO over to my 88, my dad is using the motor for my moms tj. it was rolled and the front end looks pretty rough so not going to be able to swap the front end pieces. But as far as the HO swap going what all wiring am i going to need? thanks devin

Ok, so I just picked up my 2nd 'manche its an 88 5spd 4.0 2wd Baltic blue. Found it in a garage. It had been sitting for a couple of years. Well $300 later she sits in my driveway. After trying to start for about 10 minutes she fired right up, so i had to go do a smoky burnout. posi and 2 gears not too shabby for a 22 year old truck with 238xxx miles. Just some little quirks to work out. Like fuel is spraying from the fuel pressure regulator, do I need a new one or just seals? Also, when I turn my headlights on my turn signal arrows light up, turn the turn signal on and it stays on no blinking. Any ideas? Besides that she just needs to get cleaned up a little and she will be road worthy. And how do i do pics so you guys can see some Comanche pics?

Lets see. Regular t-shirt. pocket or no pocket. olive drab, like the old willy's. black or white lettering. i like the starts and stripes comanche club best. and stick with one or two prints. KISS method. but whatever we decide, i'd like 2 larges please. Devin

:agree:

thats pretty cool. might have to print that page out and add one to my comanche.

I won't have pics until I pick it up. It's been sitting in a garage at a rental house for three or four years. I'm super stoked, just to pull this thing out and see how good it looks with a little bath. But I am torn between two options: Dad thinks its pretty neat. Like the first post not very special but neat. Me, I wanna lift it and stroke it. Maybe do some mud runs. But who knows. Only time will tell. I'll be sure to post pics in the build section. :).

Hey there guys and gals, Went to look at an '88 Comanche today and I am hoping you gurus can help me a little bit. It was an 88 comanche I6 5 speed 2wd. Nothing non-typical there. But what got me was the blue paint and gold graphics. And above the comanche on the fender was an olympic sticker with the 5 rings that was also gold. My question is was there a special olympic edition produced in 88 or what? Any info would be awesome. Oh and i scored it for $300. :). Thanks Devin
