  1. I put Geolander 30s on mine with no issues. I did change out the lower control arms out with WJ lower control arms in preparation to installing larger tires.

    Making Memories

I took my son and one of his buddies on a camping trip in the Appalachian foothills. I have a Ford Edge that is fully loaded with air conditioning, DC outlets for their games, a great stereo etc. The Comanche has just now gotten to a point where I can trust it to make it down the interstate without exploding. It has a bench seat, no A/C, crappy stereo, and the passenger side window gets stuck when rolled all the way down. As we were packing, I asked them, "Do you want to take the Ford or the truck?" They both replied "Lets take the Jeep!" It was cool seeing the boys wanting to rough it out. Well the Comanche made the 300+ mile round trip without a single hiccup. It ran just fine and used much less fuel than I had anticipated. I wanted to thank all of you for sharing the knowledge and passion for a pretty cool little truck. You all contributed to making memories for a couple of 9 year old kids. At the campsite Fishing for trout Worn out
  3. I used to drive Rangers exclusively. I actually lost sleep last night trying to decide if I should try a Ranger split bench. I would like more details please.
  4. I went to the local auto parts store and purchased a new o-ring and a box of push nuts in assorted sizes. I also ran into the issue of not being able to get the new push nut close enough to the sending unit plate to get a seal. I ended up using a deep well socket that was just large enough to slip over the plastic stud where the electrical connections are. I then used a c-clamp to press the socket down onto the push nut, thus compressing the o-ring enough to create the seal.
  5. Thank you gentlemen. Proper torque has been applied.
  6. I need to know the torque values for the WJ LCA transplant into my MJ. Is it 85 lbs on the axle side and 133 on the frame side? Thanks

  17. I just started doing this last year and it makes a world of a difference. I enjoy shaving now.
  18. I am looking for the ID and OD of the vent hose for the fuel tank. This is the smaller hose that runs from the tank to the filler neck. 88 Pioneer Olympic Short Bed with 4.0 Thanks
  19. WIN! I ended up loosening the shocks, dropping track bar and drag link, ratcheting the front axle forward, placing a bottle jack in between the axle and frame, and dropping the oil pump. I then spent hours scraping gasket, and then replacing the rear main seal. I put it all back together last night and the oil leak has been solved. Thanks for the help.
  20. Thank you all for the input. It's nice to have help like this. I have not touched the shocks Trying to avoid this. I want to be able to take the pan off, change rear main, apply correct torque on the oil pump bolts, then re-install with new gasket.
  21. Did not work. I lifted the truck and put stands on the frame. The wheels are not on the ground. I tried this first without removing the track bar and was not able to clear the axle enough to get the oil pan. I put the truck back down. I then dropped the track bar and lifted the truck back onto it's frame. I did not notice any difference between track bar on vs. track bar off. The steering stabilizer was in the way so I removed it and it dropped the pan a couple of inches but the oil pan is still pinched in between the front gear housing and the transmission. The front of the oil pan is hitting the drag link. Next I will drop the drag link and I hope to get enough clearance then. Had to stop for today. Should I remove the drag link while the truck is on the wheels or can I do it while on stands? Should I remove the sway bar links? Can I use a bottle jack between the front axle and the frame?
  22. All XJ's 89-95 with ABS have 5-297x u-joints, all XJ's 95+ have 5-297x u-joints. What about the axle disconnects? Will the XJs have the same axle shafts? Would I be able to take the axles and u-joints and slap them in my MJ?
  23. Can you expand on this? I would also like to upgrade my axles, starting with the front. Are you talking about 97+ XJs?
  24. Well we ended up pulling the oil pump without pulling the pan down all of the way. I do not recomend this at all, but we were in a pinch. I bought this truck a few days ago and needed to get it home. I'll be pulling the pan once again to clean the gasket surfaces and replacing the gaskets. Will the drag link lower when I jack the truck up? The track bar doesnt seem to be in the way too much, but the pan hits the drag link.
