Custom gear shift knob!
JStone replied to JStone's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
Right now it is currently without any finish, he wanted to ensure that it fit and works before finalizing. So ill have to give it to him so he can put a clear coat on it. Its made from White Oak, Maple, and Walnut with copper liners for structure. -
When I got my MJ, the shifter in it was the wrong gear pattern and poorly silicone in, eventually fell off. So my good friend who owns a cabinet making shop agreed to make me one. Well he ended up enjoying it so much that he got carried away and made this work of art, and now would love to make more of them for CC members. So it took him about 2-3 days in between work and glue setting and finish. So materials and time cost is 150 per knob but if your looking for something unique, you won't regret it!

Hahaha once piece at a time they'd say!

Where are you located? Like mentioned above, it sounds like these are not often to come across but do really well? Are You just upgrading? I’ve got time till this is a need but I’d like a project to look forward too for sure.

Thank you for the insight, this seems to be my case and I will take your advice and be patient with a solid build. And maybe learn some trick here and there till I’m in a better position to do it myself. By the way your build is pretty sweet. What kind of paint did you use to go green?

In reality nothing is wrong, just based from what I’ve been hearing and the way my Mj runs I’d like to have a smoother ride. Annnd I like have a project to look forward to

Just spitball in here but the dream, is to put 31” tires with a 2-3 inch lift. And I believe a while back you said the ratio I’d probably want with that is 4:36?

Okay so question for the fellas.. Lookin at the future for my rear axel, i've seen the replacement of the 8.8 a dozen times now and put a ton of logistical thoughts into it. I just don't know that I have the resources and machines to get it all done, let alone without making a huge mistakes. So I'm wondering if I were to have it professionally done, does anyone have insight to what new styles or manufactures would be best?

That’s a hell of a bummer to open up, I’ve got the same flooring and hoping this weekend to maybe take a peek at mine. I Hope to see how well you are able to clean that up!! What are suggested ways to repair that kind of damage, Also do you want to just clean and put back those vinyl floors? Good luck brotha!
-
I don’t mind the work too much, as long as the repair is solid and looks purtty! Do plug welds paint nicely? She’s gonna get a coat sometime later this year

Driver vs passenger. I hate the Asshat who drilled more holes in this to probably try and mount a different mirror, THEN TAKES IT OFF and replaced with what was once orange duct tape! hahah just gotta laugh. also..decent small hole patch ideas?!
-
It drives me WILD that is is missing, I have no parts or pieces of the old, just a couple holes in the side. Help a brotha out of ya can!

Where did you find this bad boy?
-
Since I’ve got just a little cab I’m considering doing it myself, but I did message the SMS headliners to see his product pricing. I’m also considering on moving away from the traditional grey, most likely a heavy dark grey or even black, have any of you changed interior color and had it look good?
-
Dang dude! Where do you find all these!?!
