Pretty productive weekend. Got the frozen axle nut loose but unfortunately the wheel hub and outer shaft were so frozen together with rust I couldn't get them apart. Ordered a new outer and one piece inner shaft to go ahead and get the CAD delete done and everything buttoned back up on Monday. Went ahead and knocked out the interior while I'm waiting on the new shaft. POR15, Noico and some new carpet really freshened things up a bit. Gonna clean the bench seat and refresh the trim tomorrow. Hopefully it will be registered and on the road by next weekend. Still need to drive it up to the exhaust shop when all that is done. -

Slowly making more progress, new rear shoes, drums and hardware. Decided I will just make a new bar for the height valve as mine is missing. New front calipers, pads, rotors and wheel hubs. Got the drivers side front done but the axle nut is pretty frozen on the pass side so will try and tackle that this weekend. Broke a 24" breaker bar trying to get it off, but I have a little bit beefier one to try this weekend. Also went ahead and put on the new SS extended brake lines for the lift while I was at it. The 231 SYE arrived today but had a brain fart when I ordered the lift and realized "duh the XJ rear springs won't work dummy!" Set of Alcans on the way in.....6 weeks Oh well, more time to fiddle with other things in the mean time. Next up is interior, have some POR15, 2 boxes of Noico and new carpet sitting in the house ready to go in! -
First post in the pub, but just finished the master bath remodel. Apparently the people that flipped our house before we bought it never hooked up the master tub drain so all of our shower water was just dumping into the crawl space for about 3 yrs and we had a major leak in the control wall soooo....gut job it was. You can see the quality electrical work they did as an example. Floor joists look worse in the pictures than they actually were but repaired that area while I was in there as well as new PEX lines and lighting. Been working various construction trades part time off and on for years (full time firefighter) so the only thing I had someone else do was install the shower glass today. Turned out ok, looks good from the doorway anyway

Indeed, Def ready to get working on those. Exhaust should be taken care of this week. Had to pull the trans again due to a bad slave cylinder line, thread is over in the repair forum. Pics for reference though. Lesson learned, always thoroughly inspect all new parts! -
Swapping slave cylinder u-clips for cotter pins
jeepmjga replied to jeepmjga's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Gonna change the topic name so people can see if they search for this. Took that advice and swapped out these u clips for some cotter pins, clutch installed and working properly now. Super easy to do, just pull the u-clips out with a screwdriver and pliers and pop in a new cotter pin in its place. Easy peasy. Thanks for the help guys!- 10 replies

Swapping slave cylinder u-clips for cotter pins
jeepmjga replied to jeepmjga's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well just went ahead and pulled the trans again today, found the problem. The bleeder fitting was broken in half under the u-clip. Luckily got another on the way but feel a little better knowing it wasn't my fault! Brand new slave too, didn't think to check those fittings for breakage.- 10 replies

Swapping slave cylinder u-clips for cotter pins

Dang it is a Luk brand, same with the new one I have on order. I mean looking at it thats the only way fluid would be coming out of the clutch housing right? It didn't look like it was possible for leaks where the lines go into the actual cylinder?- 10 replies

Anyone have any tips or tricks for bleeding a new clutch system? This is on a Peugeot trans. I fear I may have blown out my brand new slave cylinder. Installed new clutch, master and slave the other day. Whenever I push the pedal in its dumping fluid out of the bottom of the clutch housing. Have a new slave on the way but don't want to pull the trans again if I don't have to. I filled the master with fluid and pushed the pedal in to fill the system, fluid went down and repeated then noticed it was pouring fluid out of the bottom. Not my first clutch but still new to manual trans maintenance. From what I have researched I feel like there was too much pressure in the lines and it blew the seal out of the slave cylinder. Thanks for any help.

Some progress over the last week or so...new clutch installed, rear main, CPS, oil pan gasket, still need to put the new master cylinder in but will get around to that this weekend or next week hopefully. Thanks to some help in the tech forum got it cranked up and running but need to replace a coolant hose. An open cooling conversion was already done when I bought it. Added a nice new battery tray from Dirtbound as the old one was missing. Finally got some new goodies from Quadratec, looking forward to getting the lift on soon. Also cleaned up some sketchy wiring stuff in the engine bay and figured out the headlight/taillight situation. Will be working on Cruisers tips soon and inspecting all the vacuum lines for leaks. Went with the RE 4.5 Superflex kit for the lift... -

New project multiple questions
jeepmjga replied to jeepmjga's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I guess in my haste I just had the bigger hose on the fuel pump not pushed down on the tube far enough maybe or something? Just wiggled them a little and it started working. Checked for leaks while running and we are all good. Now its on to clean up the mess of vacuum lines in the engine bay and then on to cruisers tips! -

New project multiple questions
jeepmjga replied to jeepmjga's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Power to the pump - when I turn the ignition on I can hear/feel it turn on but as far as when actually cranking the motor I can't tell. My next step was to pull the lines off the pump at the tank and see. Also I should mention I put 3 gallons in it, I assumed that would be enough to at least get it cranked. Edit: Its a US Motor Works pump from Rock Auto -

None. I started there and worked my way back and eventually disconnected the lines at the filter and the pump isn't pumping anything. -
New project multiple questions

Awesome info guys thanks. That master project list is great. Looks like I am in need of a gauge cluster. As far as the fuel pump issue, its a brand new pump so thats what is throwing me for a loop. -
Hey everyone, so I finally bought a battery so I could dive into the motor and electrical and have a few questions. Background, its an 89 Pioneer, 4.0 with the Puegeot trans, found it off on facebook from a guy who was nice and seemed pretty legit and honest about the truck. Wasn't running when I got it and he told me it probably needed a new clutch but they got it running at his shop off of an alternate fuel source. Ive owned a few different cherokees in the past but they were all HO so this is my first dive into the Renix system. So far have installed new clutch (waiting on new hydraulic line for the master), rear main, CPS, new fuel tank, pump and filter, alternator. Current state I do have the interior removed and the dash is out but I have the gauge cluster plugged in. So here's my list of questions.... - The motor will turn over but for some reason the fuel pump is not pumping anything. I put a few gallons in it and I can hear the pump turning on when I turn the ignition on, but nothing is pumping when I try to crank it. Is there a sensor that could cause this issue? - I put a new speedo cable in but it seems that I might be missing a clip or something on the dash cluster? Could anyone snap a pic of theirs? - When I put the clutch in, there was some sort of tube that plugs into the top of the trans next to the shifter, but the other end was just hanging under the truck when I got it, not sure where this goes or what it does. - Theres some sort of possible vacuum type thing on the front axle passenger side and I have no idea what it does? Don't remember this being on any of my other Cherokees that I had. It rotates about 90 degrees and has a bracket attached to the back of the axle. - The throttle body looks to have been replaced but not sure if the TPS is the right one, it has two plugs coming off of it. Just wanted to make sure its the right one. I've searched but couldn't find what I was looking for. Humbly asking for any help here and it would be much appreciated. I've always wanted an MJ and this truck is going to be with me for the forseeable future so I'm willing to put some money into it. Thanks for looking!

Long shot I know but looking for the rubber dust boot piece that goes on the bell housing for the slave cylinder for a BA-10, I am located in Atlanta if anyone is close or wouldn't mind throwing it in the mail.

Bump on this...which size boxes and mil thickness did you get? Edit: Just clicked the amazon link. Does it stick pretty well to the surface after a fresh coat of paint?

Out with the old, in with the new. Tank, pump, and filter. Not too bad, a little PB blaster made things easy. -

Rubicon Express kit selection

Personally I just ordered it with the monotubes for price purposes. I can let you know how the ride is in a couple months haha. I don't imagine it would be too difficult to find some separate shocks that would work though.
