  1. I've been doing some work on my Comanche (88, 2.5L, 4 speed) and been following Cruiser's electrical upgrades and I stumbled on a connector out in the engine bay that didn't connect to anything. Looking at the electrical troubleshooting manual I have identified it as the throttle position sensor connector. So where I am lost is that according to the electrical manual, there should be two connectors coming from the sensor, one end goes to the ECU, and then the other end (the end that goes no where in my rig) should go to the TCU (transmission control unit). The reason why nothing is plugged into the square connector is that the throttle position sensor only has one cable coming out of it and that is plugged into the ECU connector. Looking online I see both types of TPS available. The single sensor with a connector on the back vs. the sensor with pair of cables coming out the back. As of right now the truck runs great and I have no issues. The question is: Do I need to replace the TPS and get the correct one with the two connectors and what happens when the TCU doesn't get it's input?

    WTB Wiper Module

I need a replacement Intermittent Wiper Module. I'm not sure which years are compatible with others but I need one for an 88 Comanche. The going rate on is eBay is about $50-$60 and most of them don't specify if they are even working or not.
  3. Sorry, when I said I'm having similar issues I didn't specify that my EBrake light is also stuck on and I was looking to see if there was any connection with that to other dash/cluster electrical issues. But note taken on hijacking threads it's better to keep threads focused and not let them run out of control. Thanks for the tip on the signal sockets and grounds. I'm going to take a look. It could very well be completely unrelated to my EBrake light being on.
  4. Any update on this? I'm having similar issues. The right turn signal light on the cluster is on when I turn my headlights on but works normally otherwise. I haven't gotten a chance to take a closer look but I'm just browsing the forum seeing if anyone had some clues. I also saw around the same time that my starter relay module is getting intermittent, sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone experienced random lights and abnormal electrical behavior related to a weak/old starter relay?
  5. Typo in the original post, it should say NP231 t-case.
  6. Looking for a front drive shaft for a 2.5L Manual mated with an NP232 t-case. If the price is right I might be willing to pay shipping as well. Located just north of Boston MA.
  7. That's a strange noise but if you think it's coming from the tunnel, one thing I would check the speedo gear cable. I have a noisy cable in my MJ and it gets better as it warms up.
  8. What is the thread size for the screw?
  9. It could be that the one you found in the ammo box was the original, and the replacement tach is now bad as well. You could test the coil voltage with a meter, I believe it would be an AC signal but with the meter in DC mode it would low-pass the signal so you should at least measure a non-zero signal. A non-zero voltage would at least indicate that the coil wire isn't broken. I don't know exactly how the tach circuit works but I would think that the signal that indicates RPM is a DC voltage, which is proportional to the coil's average voltage. This is likely accomplished by a low-pass filter within the tach itself (A low-pass is needed to bring the AC coil voltage down to a DC like voltage). With that said and since you have a knowledge of electronics, a good test would be to use a DC variable power supply and connect it to the coil signal input on the tach and slowly wind the voltage up from 0V to say 5V to be safe, and see if the tach needle moves linearly with the supply voltage.
  10. Congrats on your new purchase and welcome! There is a ton of information on this forum related to lift kits etc., try searching around a bit first and see what others have done. For a lift and on a 30+ year old truck, I would recommend a new track bar and control arms. Stock track bar is weak and an aftermarket one will typically be adjustable. Consider sway bar disconnects or longer sway bar links. Lifting the front without any control arm modification will affect wheel caster. Since you already have an '05 Wrangler the suspension design is actually pretty similar to that of a Comanche, at least in the front. So all the same considerations apply. For the rear suspension some guys will either get longer spring shackles or a spring over axle conversion.
  11. It makes sense to get an amp if you're adding a sub. But amps don't have to be only for a sub. I would get a power amp and add an audio crossover circuit, which separates the bass from the higher frequency tones. You can look them up online. This allows most of the bass to go to the sub, and your typical audio to go to the speakers. I would think that if your upgrading your speakers as well this would be the most ideal and balanced approach.
  12. I ran into the same issue before and that is correct that if your Comanche did not come with the factory fog light option the relay is not there. Most of the wiring is there, I would recommend using some contact cleaner on the old existing plugs.
  13. I will be sure to get that information into the forums. FYI, it might be a few months before I get the springs in. I like to wait until the weather gets nice out here in New England.
  14. Thanks for all the input. It doesn't sound like to me that it is worth holding out for the military wrap version. At first it wasn't clear if they added any additional lift that you wouldn't get with the standard springs. I'm not planning on using my MJ hard, the only thing I'll have in the bed is some wood on occasion and typical hardware store supplies.
  15. I saw this in another thread. Seems like I might just give them a call and see if there are plans to actually bring these back in the future. If 6 months is accurate it looks like we might be waiting until May. But, are there any real advantages (other than strength) of the military wrap over the standard 4 or 5 leaf springs? On my MJ I'm just looking to lift the back up a few inches due to age and sag and to give the truck a bit of a rake since I added 2-3 inches to the front.
  16. I sent an email to them asking about the GSC-571 and they got back to me with, "I am sorry those are no longer available."
  17. Interesting... I found the thread from 11/2019 that talked about getting the military wraps ordered from General Spring. They seem like the perfect spring. Anyone know if these are still available? Or if there is interest in doing another bulk order? I might give them a call and ask.
  18. Cool, I just looked them up and their website says they are still available.
  19. What are these "comanche club special" leaf springs?
  20. Wow, good find it's not easy troubleshooting old electronics.
