Comanche cowboy hat on ebay. bin 400!

This may be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. -
I’ve had my fair share of fun cutting and drilling those stock LCA mounts off the unibody. They really don’t want them falling off. The upper control arm mounts suck just as much. What rod ends are those? Johnny joints? Did you build and bend your own tube or buy some LCAs? They look good 👍

It’s amazing the lengths people will go to not properly fix their vehicles -

Got home today and felt motivated to get something done. It seems surprisingly hard to find decent mirrors these days. I’ve sort of been holding off because I want to do the ‘97+ mirror upgrade. Figured I would find some eventually. Have been keeping an eye out for months now and haven’t come across anything not already broken. Recently I did find a manual adjust driver side mirror and figured I’d throw it on. Better then what’s hanging off the side right now. Here’s a Pro tip… if the plastic clips that hold your mirrors to the truck break, get some bondo like crap, smear it all over the side of the truck and broken mirror bracket, in a terrible attempt to fix it. And be sure to let whatever glue crap your using run down the side of the truck and dry on there so you can be reminded of how stupid you are for years to come. More pro tips from WranaglerMangler to come. Oh, and when your glue attempt fails, get yourself some sheet metal screws. Anything you can do to avoid spending $20 to properly fix your truck is highly recommended. Removed the door panel and found something I’ve never seen before. Was almost in shock. A completely unmolested plastic liner. Had the door panel off and found it’s birthday. Mirror finally mounted up. Still need to find 2 new mirrors though. Got SOMETHING done. Even if it has to be redone. -

Awesome. What a beautiful transformation. Great work! Love what you did with the interior. I need to do that as well. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Keep up the good work. -
You need a radio block off plate to pass an inspection? Tell them some crack head yanked it out last night? What state? I’ll bet most of my vehicles wouldn’t pass such a picky inspection. Guess that’s one good thing about Washington state. They’ll let almost anything drive down the road. I worked with a kid recently who had 2017 tabs on his old beater Chevy truck that he drove 50 miles each way for work.

It actually happens quite often that I can scrounge together what I was looking for out of the old Shed. Years and years of “I might need this one day” Added to the dealership sticker thread 👍 -
looking for your truck's dealership sticker/emblem

I found this tailgate a while ago and had it stashed away in the shed. “Found” it again recently. Made its way all the way across the country. Currently in Western Washington Finally found the right angle today to be able to read what the sticker said Sanford Motor Company Inc. Sanford FL -
I found one in Seattle just randomly driving through after some CL parts. I stopped and talked with the guy for about an hour. Original owner of the Comanche as well. Super cool guy. Especially for living in Seattle. Lol.

More time to work on Jeeps!

Good for you. I feel the same way and have not watched for years either.

Anybody know what this sensor is? Looks like it got a little hot, being right next to the exhaust manifold. Drivers side, underneath the exhaust manifold, behind the motor mount. Straight into the side of the block. I do not believe it’s the knock sensor, I think the knock sensor is forward, in front of the motor mount. But unplugged at the moment. Believe this is the knock sensor Doesn’t it look like the block was painted recently? More evidence that this is a “newer” engine? It’s hard to tell, but that oil pan is brand spanking new. More fresh paint. I’ve got a couple 4.0s with similar mileage around, and none of them look like this one does. What do you guys think? Valve cover definitely wasn’t repainted. Kinda why I’m thinking long block.

Yeah definitely. Thank you NWMJ. Really appreciate the fuel pump. We could probably still be out BSn about taillights, fuel pumps and Jeep stuff. Lol.

At least it loaded itself into the wheelbarrow.

Heck yeah! Glad to see you got her running! Always a great feeling getting a project started for the first time. Especially when you have as much time and work into it as you do. Hopefully you had someone come over to help you lift your gas tank skidzilla up into place. Keep up the good work buddy and keep the posts coming!

Awesome. Thank you guys for the encouraging words. I am by no means a body guy. I was thinking about going down to harbor freight and getting one of those stud welders. I do not have a garage or dry place to do any of this work so it is going to be a fair weather project unfortunately. And living in Western Washington, that gives me about 3 weeks to get it done. Lol. I have a very meticulous friend that has some body work experience and is willing to help. I believe between the advice I can get here and the help from my friend, she will get back to her former glory. I was dreading posting those pictures. Lol. It’s so pretty from the other side. In the meantime, I’m going to do all the usual things that we do when we get a new MJ, Radiator hoses, thermostat, oil change, tranny, transfer case and F&R diff oil changes, fuel filter, Cruiser54 updates, etc The clutch is inoperable right now as well. I did notice the D35 pinion was super sloppy, and the U joint at the pinion is junk, so the hunt begins for a Dana 44. Just try to get it road worthy. Will post more as it happens.

I’ve been hiding a terrible, dirty secret about this truck guys. Unfortunately it is too good to be true. There’s a reason I haven’t posted any pictures of the passenger side yet…. Here they are. Just makes me sick to even look at. But it’s there. In my opinion, this truck is as close to “The Comanche to have” as you can get. Basically a rear factory MJ Dana 44 away from being my Eleanor.

Well, I’ve been trying to get this old girl running now for a while with the little bit of time I have after work before it gets dark and decided the fuel pump was bad. The PO states the pump that was in the truck was brand new but I sure couldn’t get it to kick on. Even with the pump out and supplying 12v straight to it, nothing. Dead. I siphoned out the old gas and dumped in a fresh 5’er. Luckily NorthwestMJ is an awesome guy and let me “borrow”(gave me) his unused MJ pump and sending unit from his ‘87 4.0. Plugged his pump into my harness, turned the key and the pump comes to life! Well let’s put it in and see if the Renix pump will work on a HO. Both pumps are extremely similar. Just very slight differences between the two. Cranked the key over a few times to prime the pump and actually got fuel up to the rail, cycled the ignition, engine cranked over for about 10 seconds and sputtered to life. She was hesitant at first but after about 30 minutes of run time it seems to have cleared up. Idles smooth and accepts throttle. Since I know that it’s actually a functioning engine now, I decided she had better get a bath. Busted out the pressure washer and cleaning detergent then went to town on her. Couple of before pictures. Pretty scuzzy. During the bath. Amazing difference. lol And after her bath pictures. I do have the missing tail light.

Was out scrounging around in the shed today, happened across this old find. Luckily solved my issue of not wanting to drill my other tailgate for the plastic protector. Already has one installed. Has old remnants of the dealership sticker too. Made its way across the country. Florida to Washington. This one is possibly in better shape too. Less dents. (Bottom gate in pictures) -
