  1. Radio harness looks fine from behind the unit until it goes out of view. Any tips on pulling out the glovebox?
  2. A mouse decided to live in my glovebox for about a month while it was getting some body work done. Got rid of it, everything was fine for a bit, then my right speakers (both door and rear) decided to stop working. I pulled the plastic paneling on the passenger side and traced it back as far as I could and all the wiring looks alright. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the front harness? Not sure how to squeeze up into that space... there is also two random purple wires that are not connected to anything. Any help would be appreciated, never done this before
  3. Rides SOOOO much better! I can only compare it to what was on before but I am pleased
  4. Got the little bastards
  5. Can someone please confirm the shoulder diameter of the lower shock bolt? Ordered the 5/8” bushing and putting the shock on seems harder than it should be. My eyes are bad, it’s hard for me to measure. Looks to be 5/8” to me... I can't get it past where it’s at in picture below.
  6. Absolutely impossible to press out lower shock bushings without hydraulic press. Replacement bushings I purchased (from link above) with outer diameter too small. I will have to take it to a machine shop to get these out.
  7. Hmm, seems like it would be easier to just buy a different set.
  8. Finally got around to putting these shocks on. Front went on no problem, rear has steel sleeve that appears to be attached. Took to a mechanic who said they were the wrong part. He said “I could maybe put them on but I would probably scratch it”. Just want to confirm that these will actually fit before I take it to someone else... rear is part 24-196277
  9. I am not sure why this is so hard, but can anyone provide the part number for the front and rear shocks/struts for stock height bilstein 4600 series? I saw a previous thread that listed part numbers, but they don't seem to work (website says that it "doesnt match my vehicle"). I just need regular ol' replacements. Thanks for the help in advance!
  10. Here is what I am dealing with. Looks like the shocks in the front are even leaking.
  11. Yeah, just will be using for towing a small boat and kayak stuff, mostly city roads with some gravely pothole roads. Stock will be fine for now, but the upgrade in all these components will still cost me a pretty penny
  12. That escalated quickly! Thanks for the help guys. I'm thinking I might upgrade from completely stock to a 3" with the blistein 5100. My pockets are not deep these days, so we will see.
  13. Bed sags under modest loads. Ride has been getting rougher over the potholes with a little give/smoosh on the turns. Everything is stock with only 82k on it, but I am thinking its time to upgrade. Can someone walk me through the (very) basic anatomy of what needs to get replaced? Control arms, shocks, springs, leafs, bearings etc. If I take to a mechanic, the list will never end.
  14. Picked up this gem off craigslist. Original owner had passed away and his son inherited it. 81k miles on it, most everything original aside from the stock rear slider being replaced (at least I think it has been, doesnt look stock to me). Followed everyone's recommended first step and that was to pull up the carpet. Suprisingly zero rust! The paint under there looks gorgeous! I shampooed the carpet and bench seat and pulled the stock radio to send to Jeremy in TN for repairs. This truck will be garaged its whole life, but I do live in Washington where there is snow and rain. I have no idea how to work on cars and have very few tools, but I am looking for a new hobby to learn. I am a physician, so thats kind of the same thing right? All recommendations and advice is warmly welcomed! Here are some photos from the original ad on craigslist and some from my first endeavors. Hopes: Paint job, someday 2" budget boost, maybe with 31s (they are 215/75/15 now but brand new tires) Aux cable into the stock radio (thanks Jeremy!) somehow restore the fading black plastic Needs a new female part of driver's seatbelt (doesnt click shut) headliner is falling, jerry rigged with some plastic pieces, works for now! Keep it straight and good looking for years to come.
  15. Oh that makes sense! I have been working nights, my brain is a little foggy. THANKS!
  16. So I am following the advice of the many, trying to pull the bench seat out and pull the carpet up. I have gotten 6 of the 8 bolts out and need a different tool to get the other two out (my little hand wrench isnt cutting it for the ones that are recessed). I cannot for the life of me, get the seatbelts through the hole in the bench seat. What is the secret? I cut off the plastic covers, they were cracked and ugly anyways, but the size of the female part is too large (and the male part, center seat). If I go for the torx bolts, they are at an unworkable angle (at least with what I have). There must be a secret.
  17. Has anyone changed out the fixed windows for a vent that opens? I have no AC and it would be nice to get some air in my face on hot days
  18. Y'all called it, $5500. Just needs some TLC
  19. Thanks for the info so far, I am sure I will have tons of questions (as money allows)!
  20. Just got a 1988 comanche pioneer, only 81k original miles and zero rust. Most everything is stock aside from the back windshield. Although I owned a similar model many years ago, I am coming at this from a different place. I like the idea of it being mostly stock but I also like the look of *mildly lifted comanches. Q1: What can I tow with my bumper ball? I have a light aluminum 12' fishing boat. If I have to put a beefier hitch on it, any recommendations on brand or places to go to get this done? I have no idea how much it weighs, but not very much. Q2: can I keep my original wheels (white) if I lift it a little? Or will it look stupid? Q3: carpet kits. Any recs on brand? How about floor mats? Q4: How about toppers? Anyone have a brand they really like? Being so new to the jeep world, i am wondering if there is a go-to website where people get their parts from? OK THANKS!
  21. I just bought this truck! I'm so excited, no rust (as OP said). Records from day 1 including original bill of sale. I couldnt be happier. Also, first post.
