  1. I know it isn't exactly comparable, but if I had that kind of money to put into a truck, I'd probably be looking at a Raptor. I looked a little at Wranglers back in the fall and was blown away by all the options and upcharges a local dealer was getting them with.

    Visor

Do you end up wiring these for power? Were there MJs that came with this as stock? Would seem like a challenge to wire up after the fact.
  3. I have a wireless OBD2 plug-in that I got on a sale from Amazon for maybe $15. I use the OBD Fusion app on iOS with it. The only downside is that you have to wirelessly connect to the plug-in and I think that cuts you off from data otherwise while you're using it. I had pretty good luck finding registers on various forums to add to build custom dashboards for our '08 Escape Hybrid. I haven't tried it on a Jeep.
  4. Any suggestions on lubing the moving parts for the tailgate latch? Have used WD40 in the past but wondering if there's something better.
  5. My experience has been that 1st to 2nd, especially when cold is a real bear and takes some finesse. Downshifting not a problem. And 1st to 2nd gets easier once the transmission has warmed up some. This started at about 45k miles. I had a '91 XJ that eventually developed the same issue, just after many more miles and to a lesser degree of difficulty in use.
  6. Jeeps and coffee. Sounds cool.

    Dash cams

Dash cams seem like such a double edged sword to me. In Atlanta, average highway speed is around 70 when traffic isn't causing a slowdown. That's regardless of the posted limit. I've seen enough vids of folks capturing the zaniness around here, but I'm sure I'd somehow manage to record myself doing something stupid, or even just driving well over the posted limit but in the flow of traffic. Also, I'm sure they're set up where you don't have to fool with them, but generally anything with your hands on your phone is technically illegal in GA.
  8. That's great info. I haven't dug into fixing, but radio and wipers are exactly what I've seen go out.
  9. Pretty minor on the list, but I had a '91 XJ that I kept through 2007 and 195k miles. After the 2nd or 3rd shift knob replacement (PVC between metal insert and outer cover disintegrates), I just filled the space between the cover and the insert with 5-minute epoxy. That generally fixed it with no further replacement needed.
  10. With an '88 MJ that I had a hard time getting to start, replacing the battery cables using cruiser54's info made all the difference in the world. Good stuff.
