I'm not sure of the finer details either. But since put back properly, there's no more backfiring or high idling.

Today's tip, when you remove and replace thingee's from the throttle area- made sure you put it back exactly as it was. The lever on the thingee was put back wrong, which caused this- The good thing about a ruptured muffler was I got to hear what throaty Comanche sounds like. And now it's back to normal.

I'd drain the fuel filter and see how much water is in it. Sometimes I get 2 or 3 tablespoons of water out of my filter. Truck works real smooth till the next time it starts acting up.

Drove the Comanche to work today. Apart from the lack of power, sputtering, evil noises and bit of blue smoke coming from under the hood, I was scared I'd break down. At work I decided to drain the contents of fuel filter into a glass pickle jar. The mixture was about an inch deep in the jar. About half was water and half was fuel, a dirty light brown. My Comanche has about 518,000 kms, I'm guessing the fuel tank full of bad stuff. My question is if I put in a water/gasoline fuel filter-separator will it have adverse affects on fuel pump and or related stuff. Thanks in advanks. Peter

Rats, someone bought the Comanche. I think someone got a deal. Don't have any info on the red Comanche.

Hopefully it'll look something like this http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-Jeep-Comanche-W0QQAdIdZ334161141 Just noticed the red Comanche beside it, wow!

If nothing else I should go check this Comanche out. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-91-Jeep-Comanche-39-000-ORIGINAL-KM-W0QQAdIdZ335000439 Safe to say it won't have the B/A whatever transmission. :hmm:

So who's had MJ's the longest, Bought my Comanche back in 1990 and I drive the comanche regularly to work or where ever. the most MJ's Just one. the most miles on MJ's, As I recall, bought the comanche second hand with 58,000 km, currently has about 516,000 km = 458,000 kms/275,000 miles. etc etc... Same motor except for spark plugs, dist. caps and rotors, starters, water pump and various o rings. The engine is pretty much worn out but that new K+N air filter I bought the other day makes it the fasted Comanche I've driven.

Today did a little painting under the truck. Bought a K+N air filter. Cleaned and gapped the the spark plugs. On the way home from work, dropped her into 4th and matted the comanche for a little bit, broke the all time speed record for the beast at 138 kph (86 mph). The comanche started rattling/shaking at about 118 kph. I was getting concerned the whole rig make dynamite at any moment, I think the comanche would of climbed more up the speedo but I didn't want to push my luck. Must of insulted a lot of other cars on highway with my old beater, a pile of them passed me as I slowed down. The engine felt like it had more pep than usual, not sure if it was doing the plugs or the K+N filter, or both. Whatever, the comanche running better than I ever remember.

Painted the Comanche with a 5" paint brush and some Tremclad. Put some final touches on the dash rag.
-
It's homemade. I constructed a wooden frame out of 2x4's and 1x4's. Fastened that to the truck using flat straight and L brackets. Got about 9 yards of cloth at 60" wide, cut that in half and sew them together. Fold and sew sides and ends as required for a snug fit. Used 10 tie downs thingee's with straps for outer sides. Painting cloth helps preserve the material. That's about it.

Clutch Master cylender leaking? Its new
2360 replied to 88AMComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry but it was years ago and I don't recall which wrench I used. Wouldn't rule out of having used 3/8's or something. I might of even used a huge adjustable wrench for leverage. -
I did consider that option, decided against it. I doubt spraying a clear coat would look as good as just polished and the time to repolish shouldn't take that long. Plus repeating the polish process would probably just make the rim shine better.

I had overheating problems a few times in past years. The solution for me was a new/used rad.

Electrical gremlins, advice needed please
2360 replied to 702_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a six pack of gremlins riding in the back. I've found a good way to get them out of the cab is to run/make a new circuit. I did that with my headlights and heater blower, oh and relays are a good idea. A couple of those gremblins have been around so long, they had offspring. -
Clutch Master cylender leaking? Its new
2360 replied to 88AMComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Long time ago I replaced my clutch clyinder. It leaked. After  and few weeks of stress. I just really laid into the attaching nut. Hasn't leaked since. -
I got the rims last fall to replace the stock steel rims. I didn't have a set procedure. Basically, you've got to get those small ridges smoothed out flat, that's the hard part. Sort of experimented to what works or not. I think I used a wire wheel, might of tried paint remover, could of used a sander on the flatter spots, probably at some point applied aluminum polish and lots of labour. The other day I bought a cloth polish wheel that fits on a drill, so I tried that with aluminum polish and that brought it up to a high gloss. I was looking at my truck at some distance and that wheel looks totally awesome compared to the untouched factory rim. Here's the rim I polished, doesn't look coroded.
-
I grabbed 4 rims from pick n pull, as I recall it was one of corroded ones and that coating they put on the factory doesn't come off that easy. I'm using this pic on my desktop.
-
It was a lot of sanding and rubbing, but I like the look of this polished rim. :chillin:

Put padding and what not to help with the road noise. Put some bookshelf speakers in the rear, they sound not to bad.
