  1. Ok, I'll be sure to get all that I need when I get the chance. I'm not quite sure if I want the 97+ fender flares, but I don't think the older ones would look right either so I'll just have to look into that some more.
  2. Just to be clear, I'm wanting to know, if I was to change out the older front "clip" assembly with a newer one from a 97+ XJ, I know I would also need new fenders, but do I need newer doors or anything else in order to complete it? I won't be doing it anytime soon, but I am trying to figure it out ahead of time and so far just looking at pictures isn't helping too much. -Thanks
  3. I already used it in the dash. We used an rpm reader to see what it was idling at. While it was running I put the needle on it at the shown rpm. Then, I held it at 3,500, and the reader showed something like 1,700. Basically, I'm just going to "scrap" this one and keep looking for another. If I see a renix, I'll definitely be getting one, and if I have too, I'll just return it. If it works, I'll just return the old one.
  4. Yeah I'm just going to keep on tinkering with it, and probably try to take off and realign the needle the best I can. At this point, the worst outcome is that it breaks, or just can't be fixed. Best, it gets fixed. Either way, I'll get to learn something new about it. Also, I always liked the look of the Renix anyways so it's just another reason for me to want to look for another, but hopefully I can get this one to work.
  5. I think my best bet is to take the needle off and put it back on as accurately as possible, because like you said, it's off by 6,000 rpm so what is there to lose?
  6. I took the tachometer off and this is all I see on the back of it.
  7. It's uninstalled now, and sorry for any confusion, I meant new as in a new cluster to put in my Mj. I'll dissect it tomorrow.
  8. I'm going to wait til tomorrow, but when I do it, I'll update.
  9. And just to clarify, that is after taking apart the two main parts of the whole cluster?
  10. Ok. Thanks for the help.
  11. Yeah, somehow of all things I forgot to mention, it was the year. It was an 86. V6 wasn't a typo of 86, it has a 2.8L V6.
  12. Not too long ago, I got a new gauge cluster, with a tachometer, from a Cherokee. When I plugged it up, everything seemed to work fine, except the tach's needle was roughly 6,000 rpms too high. When I revved it, it seemed to go up the right amount. Basically what I'm saying is I think that all that is wrong is the starting position of the needle. Is there a way to correct this, or is it another problem. Also, just in case it's important, here is more information on the Cherokee that I got it from: Vin: 1JCWL772XGT175333, 5 speed manual, v6, 2 doors, and it's 4 wheel drive. Thanks
  13. Also, at the same yard as the xj we are talking about, there was an 1989 Mj on the same row. It had ONLY 89,000 miles on it. Seats and most of interior was gone, I took the parking release handle for my missing one. It said it came in at the beginning of April. I just can't believe that it only had 89,000 miles.
  14. I don't really know much about the axles, or many other things for that matter, but I also don't think that they would have swapped one in, and then sold it to a salvage yard. I'll try to do some research and next time I swing by, I'll check.
  15. Alright, well thanks for the input. I'll probably just keep on searching.
  16. I was visiting pull-a-part and found a 1986 xj. It was a 4x4, but had a v6. I'm pretty sure it has an ax-5(correct me if needed), so that's no good to me. I know the axle should be fine, but would the transfer case or driveshaft be any different from what I need for an mj? The vin is "1jcwl772xgt175333" according to the sticker.
  17. I also have that same mopar pamphlet. It came with the owner's manual.
  18. I didn't even think about that. Surely there are some decent seats at my local pull-a-part, or whatever yard. Thanks again for the info.
  19. Ok, thanks for the help everyone. I will look for some 2-door seats, but they will probably be harder to find. I'm sure that when I do find some, they will be worth it!
  20. Oh, I see what you mean now. Sometimes I worry about myself.
  21. The ones in my 95 tilt forward.
  22. You mean 4 door seats don't tilt?
  23. Ok. So I need to find XJ seats that are from before 94 do use my MJ bench brackets correct?
