I am looking for a 2.5L valve cover for my 1987 Comanche. Mine is cracked and I need a replacement. If yours is a PVC system is it possible that you will sell the hoses also? Thank you! Please email me at littlemlittle@gmail.com thanks again mike

Hey guys, tonight I drove about 20 minutes in the MJ, once I got to my destination I saw that a whole lot of smoke was coming out from under the hood. I opened it, looked down, got a flashlight and noticed oil was under on the edge of the valve cover going down to the exhaust. (I believe that is why there was smoke) so I saw cracks around the valve cover where the bolts were... I'm thinking it is from the stress of the valve cover since it is so old.. I tried looking for a new one but couldn't find one... Well there are some buy don't look the same as the old... Any help please?

Everything is in good condition so far... When I start it up and let it run for about maybe a minute or so, I start smelling something... I believe it is the exhaust, I have no clue though. I cleaned the engine bay, I ran the hose on it then I started it, and in about 20 seconds I started smelling the smell and smoke started coming out from what looked like the exhaust manifold, maybe the front (closest to the front of jeep). Could that be the smell?

It was on there whenever I brought it home... I did put some RTV on it about an hour ago... It should be ready to crank tomorrow and see if everything is in working condition... Hopefully I can clean the gunk off the engine tomorrow as well.. I might be taking a trip to the pull a part tomorrow, should I try and grab some grommets from the XJ's or are they different?

They may have added a bypass filter system to it. Look at the oil filter mount. The adapter should screw on there. If they did, you will notice a set of hoses leading to another mount with a second filter on it. Thanks! How would I go to taking the second filter off? You would unscrew the adapter from the block and thread the oil filter mount stud back onto the OEM mount. If you do have a bypass... I would love some pictures... and I might be interested in buying it from you. The mount and hoses not the dirty @$$ filters. I plan on doing the oil change tomorrow and taking the old filter off and putting OEM one back on. I will take some pics for you.

How can I get another grommet/assembly thing for the hole right behind the oil cap... It was very lose.

So if I clean that up I won't need a ccv? I can't find anywhere that sells them.. Also my grandfather said all they did to convert to amsoil is add another oil filter... I don't know where tomorrow I will look. I'm doing an oil change then

Can yall show me where my CCV is??? I can't find it... Is it the hole behind the engine oil cap? If so, it won't fit...

Are there any torque specs for the valve cover?

I think oil is coming from the CCV and making it's way back up towards the throttle body...

It did, thanks. I need to do an oil change on it and all that good stuff soon before I get the title for it, I plan on doing some engine stuff like valve cover gasket and air filter oil change and then going to the car wash and using some gunk remover stuff (not sure of name) on the engine and hopefully getting the old oil gone... I have this picture... This maybe dumb, but what is it? Carburetor?

How did you fix it? Was there oil coming from the air filter hose?

Yeah it's been awhile... lol I have no clue, Since 4th of July I know it hasn't had anything done to it. And before that for about 4 months been sitting in storage..

Ok, so for the to-do list... 1. New Air Filter 2. New valve cover gasket 3. New PVC/CCV 4. Clean hose on the cover closest to the cab 5. Clean gunk off engine (how should I do that?) Anything else? Thanks in advance for the help!
