  1. Yea the AMX has quiet the history/story that was/is It's life. Mike
  2. Unfortunately I haven't started the rebuild of the engine so no currently it don't . . . It was my father's car he order it NEW when I turned 14 he gave me the car. So I been buying a part here and piece there, This summer I am going to start the tear down  I can't wait to start on it :wrench: Mike
  3. I got rained out at work so I swung by the shed and snapped a few photo's of the "X" . . . Figured you like to see the "Happy Rambler" you have seen the rest of my junk ;) 69' AMX: The AMC-V8 on stand is for the Comanche project ;) Man dust settles fast, I wiped off the car last fall and waxed before Winter . . . Bord in rainville WI Mike
  4. Yea rating's say the JK is weakier then the MJ. But I bet if you hitched up 6,000LBs to both the MJ n JK, The JK would out perform the MJ. I bet if both trucks hit the base of a hill at 72mph, The JK would top it at 65-67mph as where the MJ would peak the hill at 60-63mph . . . Thus being out performed by the "weakier" truck and the JK prolly use less fuel too ;) Mike
  5. I would tow around ATV's with it, I am sure it'll tow anything a Comanche will. Mike
  6. Not sure I just happen to have a Honcho and a Comanche, I was under the impression the short bed stepside was the Honcho . . . Tho I have seen a few honcho's Non-Stepside just short bed . . . Mine is/was a stepside J/10 Honcho, Its going to become a J/20 Stepside shortbed Honcho ;) Just like my Shortbed MJ is getting the Metric ton axles n suspension swapped under it. Both will be AMC-V8 powered heavy duty shortbed stepsides  Mike
  7. They're going on sale starting the 4th of July. As for boycotting Chrysler, Note my 2 Jeep's ? ! ? 1 Honcho & 1 Comanche ! ? ! Both built by American Motors Jeep Corporation Mike
  8. Well guys all I gotta say is its a Jeep your all Jeeper's so support your brand now ;) Me I am an AMCer so I as an AMCer only recognize 70'-88' Model year AMC/Jeep's ;-) ! ! ! :D So if I need a pickup truck my options are  Honcho's & Comanche's Mike
  9. So the top has been around a while, Sweet then tools n die's oughta be paid off by now ;) Mike
  10. Lol where's the love lady's loL Ya wanted a new Jeep truck and now that they have started down the path to a Jeep truck you are all hating on it ! ! ! This was CryCo's way of doing a little to no risk investment Jeep truck, Now if it sells well and RAMs continue to sell then they're own "Internal Comp" hype will do destroyed. Leading to a more accepting mind set of Jeep trucks, That then I'm sure will lead to advancements and product expansion ;-) Remember the first jeep truck's ? Them Willy's tin cans on wagon wheels ? ? I wouldn't have bought one then and I wouldn't want one now ! ! ! But they became the Gladiator's, Honcho's n J-series now those were Jeep truck's, The MJ-Comanche well for an Econo truck isn't half bad . . . But I'm sure a J-truck would/could run an MJ into the ground playing "truck duty" ;) I love my MJ Sporty driver to haul an ATV mower ect works great I love it. But ya ain't going to be towing around Skid loaders with an MJ like a J/10-20 will ;) Mike
  11. JK-8 vs MJ ? ! ? Neat photo comparison ! ! ! Mike
  12. Yea well AMC is awesome CryCo :fs1: kinda sucks ;) I'm the Anti-Chrysler myself, I am also an AMCer not so much a Jeeper ! Mike
  13. Yep pretty same wreck as a Comanche its a Cherokee with a box  Mike
  14. It's got the same specs n options as the regular Wrangler series rigs, Its just a factory produced dealership installed conversion kit. Just a wrangler with a truck top n pickup type cargo area . . . Mike
  15. Yea I love the Newest Generation Humvee once the M1152 his surplus I'll be snatching one up. As for the JK-8 I'm all for it, I like it and I am sure I'll buy one in do time. Mike
  16. I would take a Humvee M1097/M1152 over a Humvee M998 / Hummer H1 K10 any time ! M1152: M1097: M998/H1: GM-6.2/6.5-T 135hp n 250tq/170hp n 355tq. M1097/1152: AM-G 6500 205hp n 440tq / 250hp n 550tq. Same displacement interchangeable but that is where the similarities end, Tho there is a detuned 190hp / 385tq AMG-6500 for retrofitting into GM-6.2/6.5-T power units. I got school by some GI's about the fact that the GM-6.5T n AMG-6500 aren't the same engine . . . Apparently the blocks n heads have been recast from higher grade material and has extra webbing and supports. The PMD power injection pump has been done away with and is now an AM-G IP designed by IHC. Apparently the AM-G is structurally stronger and makes better power with greater durability and reliability. Uncle Sam wanted a better unit that was interchangeable, So AM-G sold GM the rights to the Hummer brand and bought the rights to the GM-6.5 diesel and also the 4L80E transmission. Mike
  17. Yea well I would prefer the JK-8 over a 4Dr Wrangler any day any time, I find the 4dr Wrangler about as putrid and atrocious as 4dr pickup trucks . . . But that's just IMO most like 4dr rig's. Atleast CryCo is making an attempt at a truck like Jeep, Maybe if they sell lots they'll expand apon the Jeep truck idea . . . Its at least a start, Ya seen the some of the trucks Jeep had before the MJ-Comanche ? ! ? Let's face it even the MJ is a cheaply made Econo truck Its No FS-Gladiator/Honcho J-truck. Mike
  18. Well you go ahead an argue with Jeeps CEO, He said "Its a truck but its NOT a pickup" So they are classifying it as a truck ? ! ? Mike
  19. Went my dad bought his 87' Ranger V6 5spd 4x4 reg cab standard box he said it was cheaper then a Jeep Comanche 6cyl 4WD . . . So as far as I knew/told Jeep truck's always cost more ? ? ? Mike
  20. Jeep JK-8 Independence release date 7/4/11: Its a Jeep truck, I would still hang on to your Honcho's n Comanche's for towing n hauling . . . This a make a nice "driver" truck ;-)! I might buy my first CryCo Jeep ;-) Mike
  21. AMC-MJ

    New Jeeps ! ! !

Jeep JK-8: Image Not Found Rear cab section on back sure seems to match up with the above pictured Iveco truck ;) Mike
  22. Hmmm you may have something there, Certainly worth a look I guess. Mike
  23. Gear it down some ? Swap out the 3.73s for some 4.10s ? ? To bring the revs up some ? ? ? Mike
  24. So get a new compression tester ? and a set of gauges ? Or just an oil psi tester ? The PO hacked the dash and installed Voltage n Tach, I'd like to add water n oil but I don't want to further hack this dash, Much less the new replacement one. I'll have to kick around the gauge idea. Mike
  25. I had a compression tester, I adapted it to a diesel once and wrecked it ! I have NOT seen an oil pressure tester ? ? Where dose one find such a testing kit ? ? ? Mike
