Truck starts up, runs for 10 seconds, dies
EUREKA replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? -
My wife keeps leaving the headlights on. I need the a blue chime module, and I live about 3.5 hours form a decent junk yard. If you have one would be willing to sell sell contact me. Thanks

But I already have vice-grips.

I am attempting to swap doors from 200 XJ (Power everything) onto my 91 MJ. I see that the hinges look entirely different but it does look like the hinges from the 91 MJ will bolt on to the 2000 XJ doors. I that correct? Is that the way to proceed? I also see that the weatherstripping is very different between the 2000 XJ donor and my 91 MJ. How do I address this problem? In order to use the weatherstripping from the 2000 XJ, it looks like I would have to also use the associated trim pieces, which I can't see working in the MJ. How do I address this? Thanks

Can someone demystify seat options?

Found an MJ in my local yard. It had a factory bench seat in it. The bench is being reupholstered now. Not sure what I'll do for a center console yet. -

Adapting MJ headlight harness to 97+ XJ harness

My harnesses looks like the last two images linked above in post #22, http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img911/7601/2UObab.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img910/4057/6ypJO2.jpg which seem to disagree with the colors listed in post #6 by Comanche Addict. -

I've read quite a few threads but it is still not clear to me exactly what is involved in swapping my 91 MJ to the 97+ interior. I have a 2000 XJ donor vehicle. Is this swap any easier/differant to do on a H.O. MJ compared to a pre-H.O. MJ? I like some recommendations for the best threads covering this swap. The front clip swap I have covered. I have doors from a 96 XJ that are in fantastic shape but I also have the option of swapping on the doors from my 2000 XJ donor. I'm not sure how I would wire the power windows and sideview mirrors or if I want the power option, given that one day they they will break.* Thanks for the help! Pics of the truck and floor pan repair so far, https://www.facebook.com/aaron.gustaveson/media_set?set=a.1590665934297787.1073741839.100000631866055&type=3&uploaded=11 *I'm so sick of repairing broken door harness wires on ZJ's for myself and others and they're not being made new.

I have begin restoring my 91 MJ. I happen to have a 2000 XJ with an excellent interior that I can cannibalize but I don't feel that I have the time to do a 97+ interior swap (link to story below). The interior of the truck is FUBAR. I have already purchased most of the interior parts for the restoration from a 96 XJ. I have removed the interior of the truck and am getting ready to weld patch panels in the floor. My plan is to use POR-15 after the patch panels are finished, then dynamat in some areas, then a vinyl floor. I would like to use a mid nineties dodge dakota bench seat, with the center seat that doubles as a console. I could install the seats from my 2000 XJ but my dog prefers a bench and the XJ seats do not fold forward, which is a deal breaker for me. I am planning on using the 97+front clip from my 2000 XJ donor, and am considering using the doors as well. But I do have doors from a 96 XJ that are in great shape as an option. I'm going to replace the weather strippng for the ventilation system. While I have the interior removed, what things should I consider addressing? Should I replace the heater core/evaporator? This is my 91 MJ http://comancheclub.com/topic/52614-1j7gj36s3ml622888/?do=findComment&comment=536496 I also own an 88 MJ that I will be selling soon, http://comancheclub.com/topic/52613-1jtmp65f4jt037824/?do=findComment&comment=536490 The body paint and especially the interior of my 88 are in fantastic condition but I only get to keep one Comanche and I want it to be a H.O. Part of me wants to steal the Dana 44 from my 88 Metric Ton MJ for my 91. Any thought/info on that? This is what went wrong with my 2000 XJ, http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/just-broke-down-7-check-engine-codes-3784274/

Can someone demystify seat options?
EUREKA replied to EUREKA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Of course I had already did a lot of searching before I started the thread. Still no specific models and date ranges. Here's a little summary; -Comanche addict fit 2001 Dodge Dakota seats. -MJ Maniac fits a bench from a 1997 Dakota. -Comanche fan installed seats from a Ranger (he believed it was a 2000)(some say the ranger seats sit too high) -Comanche Aficionado has a bench from an 04 Dakota Sport Quad cab. -Mnkboy has a bench from a 2006-2007 Mitsubishi Raider (Dakota clone) Info from Mnkyboy: - Some 97-04 Dak seats came with a drivers manual lumbar adjustment (not sure on '05+). - Some 97-04 Dak seats do not have the flip out cupholders in the front center of the seat (not sure on '05+, the one I saw did not have it). - Some 97-04 Dak Crew Cabs came with a bench, however the seat backs do not fold forward on these, and no pop out cupholders. -
Can someone demystify seat options?

Thanks for all the info! -
Ive been reading the various threads on seat options. I understand that some Dodge Dakota and some S10 seats will work but none of the threads give specific years that will work. Now when I say "will work", I am not talking about bracketry. I mean will physically fit between the doors and won't be too tall once they clear the trans hump. They must also fold forward. I have a welder and worked as a welder in a custom metal fabrication shop for 7 years, so I'm not afraid or modifications. I currently have two comanches. A 1991 and a 1988. The 1991 has factory cloth buckets but they are in horrible shape. The 1988 has 4-door XJ seats, and I hate them. I am interested in bench seats with center consoles. 40-20-40 Thanks!
