    Dodge truck ?

being a 3500, you didn't mention if it was a dually. but i've seen up to a dana 80 w/ single rear wheels. best bet is to get the b.o.m. off a tag or the axle tube. b.o.m. stands for bill of material, and w/ it i can identify it, tell you what ratio it has, or if it has a posi. if does not have a tag, you can look to the right of the center section of the tube. stamped lightly on the tube will be the #, the numbers are also small. it usually is a 6 digit number followed by a space w/ another number single or two digits. example 606732 3 or 603598 12 sometimes grime can cover it up or rust use brake clean and a wire brush, or some 150 sandpaper.
  3. that will be a ford part #.

    Oil Change

some of the filter manufactures actually stamp the thread size on the filter. around the oil entry area. i had a 93 xj and now i drive a 98 zj that was my wifes. puralator filters for the 4.0 are stamped 3 4 16, meaning 3/4-16 . there used to be a chart in the back of the puralator filter book that would tell you every fiters diamensions, length and diameter. then the thread size. so i would find out the largest filter i could fit and use it. check it out. the filter for my zj is 14670, the one ive been useing lately is 30257 just a few inches longer.
  5. no wounder its driving you mad its spelled google. ha ha
  6. just take the whole actuator off. its just the 4 bolts, a gentle tap or pry and it comes right off. make up a cover out of steel or aluminum. take the gasget mark it out on the matreial, drill your holes. take any burrs off, slap on some rtv or silicone.
  7. you are an a@$ for making me look this up. =aphorism hurry up and finish your schooling. your starting to make me learn too.
  8. your 44 doesn't have a crush sleeve, just preload shims. turn your impact gun on lowest level and tighten down till your socket stops. oh and don't forget a little loc-tite. you wouldn't belive how many pinion nuts and yokes i've seen come off. as for the noise, bearings are shot.
  9. TRY CALLING GEARWORKS I don't KNOW THE PHONE # BUT THE SITE IS AGEARWORKS.COM . I'VE GOT A 8.25 AXLE I NEED TO GET RID OF . IT IS 27 SPL BUT CAN BE CONVERTED TO 29 SPL.
  10. JUST HELPED A FRIEND W/ HIS BRAKES. I WOULD TRY BLEEDING THE BRAKES FIRST. HIS CJ WAS SITTING WELL OVER A YEAR. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW CHECK YOUR REPAIR MANUAL. IT'S ALSO CHEAPER TO DO THIS FIRST.
  11. DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. BUT W/ YOUR JEEP ON THE GROUND MEASURE WHERE THE SLIP YOKE RIDES IN THE TAIL SHAFT HOUSING. THEN TAKE DRIVE SHAFT OFF THE PINION YOKE, AND SEE HOW MUCH ROOM YOU HAVE TO GO IN OR OUT. THE TUBES SOULD BE CLOSE TO THE SAME SIZE BETWEEN AXLES. MEASURE FROM WHERE THE TUBE MEETS THE CENTER HOUSING OUT TO THE SADDLE OF WHERE THE U-JOINT SITS. DO THAT TO BOTH HOUSINGS THAT SHOULD GIVE A ROUGH ENOUGH NUMBER TO WORK WITH. WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IN PINION SNOUT LENGTH AND DO HAVE ROOM IN THE SLIP YOKE.
  12. hey i'll put my 2 cents in. if you have any clutch material or bellview washer pieces falling out, it's to late. if you were to weld the spider gears the way it is now you would have no support behind them. then breaking them farther or maybe an axle shaft or carrier. i work for gearworks it's an axle shop, this is all we do. you could ship your carrier to me and we could rebuild it for you. sell you a new t/l or detroit, new open w/spiders, or maybe we might have some used parts for you. we charge $81.00 for labor i don't think clutches are over $50.00. if you buy something else you'll have to transfer your shims over. agearworks.com go to the web site to see and get the phone # if you have any other questions.
