  1. The problem over here is that they will not remove the old chrome due to toxic chemicals. They have to ship it to the USA or someplace outside of the Nordics that doesn´t have this strict environmental regulation...also it is about 163cm wide, and bath not normally found here...thank you for your tips though, appreciate it!
  2. I will try to post here again. I am still looking for a good rear bumper , the stepped version in chrome. i know they are hard to find, but if anyone is replacing theirs with a custom bumper, please let me know and I will buy your bumper. I will even consider shipping my bumper to someone that can repair and rechrome it....
  3. thanks Pete, I agree...unfortunately the body work guys in this country have all been too soft, only dealing with thin metal plates and plastic welding....I guess I have to go to a truck workshop where they still work on thicker plates... We´ll see...
  4. all repair shops I have been talking to are not willing to take on the job because the part is too long for their Chrome bath at 1620mm. Man...I guess I will have to go mod the $#!& out the car, put it on 33"s , have som rails and and rip off all that chrome.
  5. Hi all, I managed to get run over by my own boat trailer (image that???) leaving the right hand side of the bumper in tears...I have been keeping my truck in really good shape and she is an original survivor with about 80k miles on the clock...I have tried several auto salvage yards and interwebs, to no avail. Please, do any of you happen to know of a piece of chromed metal similar to what I have? Step bumper, no dents, chrome intact? My left arm or right foot is coming your way if you can spare me a bumper...(or if you prefer less flesh...cash is available too)
  6. Thanks fiatslug, where can I find all this information? ...or is it only me being mentally challenged? (bet it is...)
  7. Thank you Eaglescout! Much appreciated. Can I deduct from this that I have a normal radiator? (NMB Normal duty Cooling).. And how do you see its "tow package/metric ton"? Also, it seems my running boards are identical to the AMC running boards mentioned in Eaglescouts article, If I can show DMV that they were there originally, I can put back the lights in them...Could that be the Light package (ADA)Thanks.
  8. Hi Krusty, any Roll bar brackets laying around? Need to get my roll bar fitted soon (its been collecting dust and dents without even being used...)...
  9. IMG_9322.HEICHi, I have this unit from my 87 AMC Jeep Comanche Metric Ton Laredo. It does not say RX135, but it sure looks like one? However it has a very different jeep model # of 0089556002786 not listed in your thorough write up. I am thinking of ways to have this updates with some kind of hidden DAB+ reception adapter with bluetooth as no AM/FM signals are broadcasted in Norway... Any tips or tricks? It had a very thick and powerful sound to it. I have changed it with a Pioneer XH8700 witch sounds nice and very digitally perfect, but has the most awful LED color-circus lights emitting from the fascia. I was also considering the "new" Blaupunkt Bremen with all the new tech in a retro box...but the original Jeep unit looks so good with its chrome details and heavy knobs...

  12. Got my plates yesterday after some debate! Thank you so much for all your help! Please tell me how I can upload pictures easily! I´d appreciate any information that could justify putting lights back in the side boards. I can scan the sales contract, and you might be able to tell whether the running boards were on from the beginning. Doesn't necessarily have to be an original Jeep Part as long as I can prove that it came from the reseller that way...strange laws in this country... Another question...as the inspector turned the car inside out, he discovered that the sound proofing under the carpet (about 40mm thick) was soaking wet...I haven't seen any leakage, there´s no AC, what could that be? I will search the forum first, and see if I can find something there... Thank you all!!!
  13. OK. finally I managed to photograph the sticker with a very high resolution camera, and from a specific angle the data showed as follows, (hardly readable so maybe some numbers are wrong) All numbers stated in KG not lbs for my canadian truck Original stock Metric Ton Laredo 87 4.0 EFI std wheels 225/75R15x7 GVWR TOTAL 2526 KG = 5569 lbs (could be 2586 KG - 5700 lbs ????) GAWR FRT 1134 KG = 2500 lbs GAWR RR 1542 KG = 3400 lbs Now I did not find anything on towing capacity or payload in my documents, but were told it has a payload of 1000 kg - 2204 lbs and towing capacity 2268 KG - 5000 lbs with class II hitch (not from bumper but from frame fixed to the subframe of the truck, called equalizer?)
  14. Hi, and thank you for your posts, The VIN simply states a range between 5001-6000lbs for GVWR not the same number as used to be printed on the door. As this was imported from french part of Canada, documentation is lacking. I have the original manual with the plastic cards (both english and french), but there are no numbers specific to this particular vehicle. I also have the original sales contract from 1987 with all the options stated. But again, no dimensions, weights, payload needed to make a norwegian DMV. I have another question too: My MJ came with side steps (MM150 masterstep is printed on the sides) with 6 lights in them. Was this original or not? If the lights were there leaving the reseller, I can keep them here in Norway, or else I have to remove them as only larger trucks (more than 2,5m width) are allowed to have marker lights along the sides... Thanks!
  15. Thanks! But that is a regular MJ, not with the metric ton package? How did you embed the photo? I will try to upload a photo of my door sticker.. My standard wheels are 15x7 and tires 225/75 R15 I would also need towing capacity for the towing package, thank you so much!!!! A
  16. What was the final result of this topic? I Urgently need some data for my registration. My door sticker is not readable any more... GVWR TOTAL GAWR FRONT GAWR REAR TOWING CAPACITY MJ4.0 1987 Metric Ton AW4 with towing rack mounted to frame (and also 2" tubes sticking out on both sides and in front...what are they for? Winching?)
  17. I am in the process of shipping it overseas now. It was a rare find, with everything untouched, no off road ambitions (owner was not even driving in a few inches of snow). I am very excited, and hopefully I will manage to make the Cruise Control work again...probably something electric...we´ll see. I will upload som pictures from the norwegian woods when it hits our shores...Thanks!
  18. It will not turn up on eBay again, rest assured. It will end its days in a norwegian holiday place south of Oslo, towing my mahogany boat to the workshop before winter and then rest all winter until spring sitting in a garage....
