  1. Fixing the leak is easy. The lines are soldered in, not welded.
  2. PM on the way.
  3. I have an idea on how to overcome the lack of a replacement sending unit for MJ's. Anyone have a junk one laying around? Lines need to be there, but can be rusted and/or leaking. If I can get one to test my idea, I'll document the process with a write up and pics for the DIY section.
  4. And somebody could correct me if I'm wrong, but the MJ sender assembly can be repaired using an XJ sender, you will just need to do some fabricoddling. That is my understanding. I also think it would be possible to modify an XJ sending unit to fit properly in an MJ tank.
  5. All depends on why your gauge isn't working. Mine was due to bad wiring inside the tank. Fixed that works great.

  7. Check wheel bearings. If 4x4, it's a unit bearing hub assembly.
  8. 50, going on 20
  9. I've read on here the seals can be replaced with later seals. The windows make no difference to me. Good news is the estimate is enough to satisfy me. Hopefully they will agree to cut me a check and I'll sign off on it, so they are not liable for any hidden damage and not total it.
  10. I read it on Wikipedia, it must be true!
  11. Hornbrod must have nailed it. I couldn't get it to reset at first. Applied parking brake and hit it again, pedal is back to normal. Took it out for a few hard stops at different speeds, everything seems fine. I do know the rear brakes are out of adjustment. I'm going to fix that after the insurance adjuster looks at the truck.
  12. No brake warning light. It comes in when cranking the engine, goes off as soon as it starts.
  13. That's not going to happen from a single panic stop.
  14. Reservoir is almost full, no chance it was sucked dry. Brake lines are not distorted. No leaks to be seen anywhere.
  15. Most likely cause of break pedal becoming soft after a panic stop, no signs of leaks at any of the wheels? I'm thinking master cylinder... They worked great just prior the panic stop, locked up all 4.
  16. Any benefit to '97+ doors? I'd be surprised if it has 3.07 gears, due to rpm's at highway speeds with 31's.
  17. I couldn't agree more. First thing I did was make sure she was ok.
  18. Yeah, it bites. If her insurance makes a decent offer, I should come out ok.
  19. CYOA = Cover Your Own A$$
  20. Upgrading to 8.25 would be fine. Not sure what my current axle ratio is.
  21. Just need to figure out what year donor I need for the swap. Current: 4.0, Renix, AX15, 2wd Planned: 4.0, Renix, auto, 4x4
  22. Could be, but also might be due to me cutting them some slack. Highway Patrol said I could insist on a report, or, they could call their insurance and admit she pulled out in front of me. This keeps her from getting a ticket, and neither of us gets an accident on our record. If I have any problems, I call the officer and she filed a report, issued a ticket.
  23. I will give her dad credit, he called and asked how I was, how my truck was, and gave me a claim # before I drove 25 miles home.
  24. That's my plan. I'll look for a donor for the swap. Going to have to start researching. I am staying Renix, truck runs great. May swap to automatic and sell the AX15.
  25. Looks like my 4x4 swap may happen sooner than expected, thanks to a 16 year old driver and her cell phone.
