Thanks for the tip! Living in the rustbelt makes it awefull hard to find something with even just a little bit of rust!

Yea I think the XJ will be my best bet. I was looking at a few s10's but they want way to much for the low mileage ones. I want to buy one with under 100k miles. I've owned 3 vehicles now and none under 140k miles, most was my 82 jetta diesel with 242k. Loved that little thing, but love the MJ I traded it for even more!

Cupholders aren't a deciding factor lol. I've gone 5 years with only one, I'm sure I'll manage :D

I was thinkin the 97+ XJ so that I can swap the front end over once the 350 is in the MJ :brows:
-
My family has had terrible luck with fords. Honestly I'm a chevy guy and I'd never hear the end of it from my ford friends lol. Probably goin with a 97+xj

As much as I hate to do it, once I graduate I will be getting rid of my 1998 monte carlo. It was my first car, worked my @$$ off to buy. Well now it has 200k miles on it and really starting to show it. So now the real topic. Any ideas on a new vehicle? Well new to me atleast? I've been looking at s10 blazers and cherokees, and the occasional VW. My budget will most likely be in the 5,000 area(granted I get a job as soon as I move home in march). Any other good ideas? Looking for something with 4 doors, as the only real downfall of the monte was it was a 2 door, and only had one stinkin cup holder! (BTW: I refuse to purchase a Ford)

Interior, but says it helps stiffen up unibody a bit http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... ath=93_173

Went there a few weeks ago and looked at it. Almost took the headliner, but I'm not going home untill i actually move back so I wouldn't have room for it:fs1: . It's in fantastic condition though!

Yea will definately be reinforcing the frame area that the engine mounts are on. Also considering the motion offroad roll cage, or is that a waste of time? (Not rock crawling or anything serious, most likely trails, mud, and probably drag racing on occasion)

Extreme Make Over: Camo Comanche Edition
pwrliftin replied to CamoCrazy's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I'll be doing almost the same setup! Except mine will be 350 powered! I showed my girlfriend the picture and said "This is what it will look like, minus the camo" needless to say she approved! How durable is that stuff? I'd like to the bottom half of mine in either a camo wrap or roll on bed liner -
I listen to everything from country, to jazz, to black metal. For god's sake my dad is in a bluegrass punk band! People hate riding with me because my ipod will go on shuffle from HankIII to Salt the wound(Cleveland GrindMetal) Check out my dads band The Misery Jackals. They're interesting and cover about every topic possible with their songs

Yea definately gunna wheel it when it gets the 350. If all goes well I would like to put a 350 in a 2 wheel drive and make it a street machine!
-
Just wandering if I should be worried about my Uni-Body when I put the 350 in, and if so and ideas on strengthening it? Build Starts March 17 when I move home so I'm trying to get as much research done so I can dive right in!

2.5 fuel-injection to 350fuel-injection
pwrliftin replied to 86jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm Doesn't talk about keeping the old fuel injection, but about halfway down there is a section on TBI and FI. Whole page is very usefull! -
2.5 fuel-injection to 350fuel-injection
pwrliftin replied to 86jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've been doin a lot of research on this because I will be doing the swap this summer. The best thing I've found is to run a carb. I've talked to a few people that said making a stand-a-lone setup wouldn't be to hard, but I really don't know anything about wiring or fuel injection. -
Thanks man! This was only a 2 year thing, I'll probably end up going back for another, but not for a little while.

I've been in a cut off and jeans all week! I was talkin to my mom about how Kentucky doesn't get snow. Then she told me Ohio got slammed with snow over the weekend and it's nice and warm and everything melted now.

I'll see what I can come up with! And never under estimate the power of ramen. I worked with a guy that was in the Pen. for a few years, dude made ramen look gourmet!

Yea they can be real jerks sometimes. I like seeing the smaller trucks doin work, you can only but a big block in a truck and throw rockwells under it before I get bored. But like I said, I'm young and single so I usually go for the girls :brows:

I'd say what I eat for lunch everyday, but I'm in Culinary school so it changes delicious everything everyday! Well some days not so much, so I opt for smoked turkey, swiss, and dijon mustard!
-
Pavement would be better for me... My MJ is nowhere near trail ready!
-
Yea the past year 2 years I really only went for Trucks Gone Wild and the Tough Truck competition, I haven't had a 4x4 to go in the pits for a while so no point in going on a regular night lol.

The Misery Jackel(86 2.5 4x4)
pwrliftin replied to pwrliftin's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well looks like I won't get to start anything on the truck till I move home in March. It wouldn't be so bad if I was getting paid, but thats not how internships work. Atleast it will be impressive having interned at a 5 Diamond/5 Star Hotel and Restaurant on my resume now! -
I would be down for it, but even if mine was put together I wouldn't trust it to go far lol
-
I'll be out that way a lot! My buddy lives in struthers and I usually go to yankee. I'll be helping hime with his blazer. He's doing the Yankee Lake mods(rockwells and agriculture tires) I'm not so much for the mud, but they sure got some perty girls out there! :D
