The Misery Jackel(86 2.5 4x4)

Been cruisin the net lookin at 350 swaps into MJ's and Xj's and realised how lucky we have it here on the CC forum. I was on pirate4x4 and found a guy doing the swap into an 86 XJ. Several replies were a bunch of @$$holes just screwing him around and not giving any input. Would just like to thank you guys for putting up with my rookie questions and being so helpfull! I can hopefully go home some weekend in the next 3 months to start tearing the 4banger out of the Jackal and get some other things on it done, but till then she sits and waits in the driveway :( -
I stopped into student services today and found out I WILL be graduating at the end of this quarter (as long as I don't screw anything up or get expelled)! I can finally move back to Ohio(Not many Ohio people here look forward to going back) and move on with my life, and by that I mean move my Uncle's Chevy down to my house and start the 350 swap into the Jackal! My day= and lots of !

Not sure the build date on mine, but its an 86. A whole 5 years older then I am!
-
I saw in your sig. that you have the helcreek MT pack. Did they give you much lift or keep you roughly stock?
-
That helps a lot actually! Can't wait to go home for a weekend and see whats all goin on with the unit. Thanks

Possibly. The previous owners(not sure how many have had my truck before me) did a lot of electrical stuff to it. Every time I'm home from college I chunk away at the wire nest under my dash. It's ridiculous.

I changed my Gauge cluster over because I wanted one with a tach. My old one just had the big fuel gauge, but it was "empty" when I fueled up and would move towards the "Full" side as I drove. Now that I have changed clusters, it still does this. I figured it wouldn't help, but I try to keep a little false hope. Any ideas?

Truck in the Garage with the new rims on. Waste of a week, couldnt paint or anything. Too cold!!! -
Personally I enjoy mud, mostly because I'm still a young buck and girls just looooove the mud for some reason. I like the trails too, and our trucks are perfect for them. Maybe a little long, but still good. Don't have to worry about getting ran over by Mud Slut or Floored lady of the night lol
-
Thats usually where I go, I've only been to Wellsville once. Has anyone been out to JeepSkool?
-
We should make a run out to yankee lake. Not sure if you guys like a ton of mud, but the trails aren't to bad. And we'd definately get some publicity rollin up in the MJ's

Anything is better then my 2.5. I would love to put a 6.6 duramax diesel in it, but thats way to much power, weight, and electronics to run lol -

Yea, I was lookin to do the inline 6, but I've always been a chevy guy and you can build a decently powerful 350 for cheap -
Yea went and found 2 scissor jacks in random cars and worked great. Passenger side as fairly simple, but the driver side was hard, except snapping on of the u bolts. I got a little carried away with the breaker bar

In the spring I'll be stripping everything in and out of the Jackal. My uncle is getting a new truck, his old one (85 chevy 4x4) will be moved down the street to my house. Going over the engine, it only has 70,000 original miles. Doing a mild build, then finding a th350, np231, and dana 44 front axle. Done with the 2.5, ready to rock and roll and get this truck up and built! -

Sat down with dad and had a talk about the truck, we decided that a chevy 350 would be the best way to go, because I want to do the spring over axle conversion and metric ton pack. Whats the point in having a haul worthy rear end if the engine can't move it? -
Canton, I got it cleaned up now. It was from an 87 with 100k miles. don't look bad at all now

Helloooo dana 44=] Now to get all the fluids changed, clean it up, new diff cover, and probably paint it with some rustoleum or somethin. This one don't leak like the 35! Now to decide, spring over or under? I'd like to keep it to a mild lift, with the 4banger and all. And I need new springs. What to do what to do! :dunno: -
here she is! Mileage on the XJ was not even 100k!
-
Got-r-done! Post pics probably tomorrow, phone is broke and camera is dead

Well I have a big breaker bar, an arsenal of tools, 2 very large men, and of course my 100 pound soakin wet buddy for most likely support. We attack at dawn! or when pull a part opens!
