I'm looking to sell my cherokee and get a 2wd shortbed 4cyl. for gas mileage... I just couldn't get away completely from driving a Jeep everyday. My question is.. does anyone know what kind of gas mileage a stock 4cyl MJ gets? Thanks! Egg

I might have to go that direction, put a new tank in it. . . How much would you want for your spare tank.... or do you have a spare mike? Also anyone know where I can find an NP231 Tcase or know where to get a cheap rebuild kit? My rear output seal when out on the tcase and screwed up the chain in it... i beleive. I put a new seal in but i found out today that it is leaking even worse!? thanks Egg

Shoot I don't know  I might end up going ahead and rigging up something??

Yep, I'm talking about the steel line on the top. It has a crack in it and is leaking and also allowing the fuel pressure to be low. I do need one, so mike if you would be so kind as to check out and see how long it is. I think the parts store measure it to be around 8" (the wrong one) so if Its longer then I guess its the correct one. Wild man, Thanks for your imput. How did you repaire the line? I don't see how you go it off? Thanks you all for your imput! Egg

I'm talking about the line at the top. The line that the rubber hose is connected to that goes to the fuel pump itself.

I have a question about my fuel pump sending unit. I went to napa, autozone and advanced auto and all of them bring up the same thing for 87 Jeep Comanche, 4.0. The thing is my sending unit has a long neck, so the fuel pump sits further in the tank. The one that I keep getting is too short. Any Ideas? maybe my tank is from another truck? Heck I don't know! any imput appreciated! Egg

Front end clunking clunk noise 86 comanche
egghead replied to paulsaw's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a clunky noise coming from my Manche. I checked every single bushing out, couldnt find anything. Turns out my driveshaft has a lot of play in it. Oh and not to mention a small clunk from the trac bar. Egg -
JohnQ thanks for the link. I havnt been on here in a while and just checked that. I really appreciate the link. Gotta get it! Egg

OK so i'm on the verge of getting everything ready for four wheel drive. I have an 87 MJ 4.0L Automatic. I'm going to be putting in an AW4 Tranny and NP231 T-case. I need to know how long my drive shaft needs to be. I'm planning on cutting the 2wd one down and using it. Anyone know what the length would have to be? Thanks Egg

One or two weeks would be fine. I've noticed not everyone gets on the forums alot.. A week to two would be plenty of time for everyone to decide. Egg

I think design 2 with "Easy to be a truck, hard to be a Jeep" would be cool.... Egg

Woah, thats a lot of replys. Thanks guys.. My tank has three straps on it, its a long box. I really wish I had a manual for my MJ. The previous owner must have thrown it out. Egg

I was wondering how I would tell the difference in a 20 Gallon gas tank and a 13? Did the 13 only come in the Short box MJ's and the 20 in the Long? The previous owner of my MJ put a different sending unit in it; since then the gas gauge has been off. Way past full is full, Full is half, and half is quarter. Since my fuel pump went bad on me i'm going to replace the sending unit also, but I need to know the size of tank I have. Thanks for the imput Egg

Daggummit. I was hopeing it would work. Oh well maybe I will get to see my buddys make a nice little Manche Buggy. Thanks for the help Pete. I'll still go take some measurements and see if it will work. Egg

So i'm still on the verge on making my MJ Four wheel drive. Got the upper arms welded and ready to put on. Making the lowers this weekend. All I have to do left is Gears, mount tranny/T-case and get a drive shaft. A buddy of mine came up and told me his dad has a 1986 2.8 Jeep MJ 4x4 long box. He only wants 500 bucks for it. The question I have is will the drive shaft work for my project? I have the 4.0 AW4/231 setup. If it will work, Myself and two of my other buddys are chipin' in to buy the thing; i'm taking the shaft, and they are going to make it a wheelin' rig. Thanks for the help Egg

Flat black is the perfect color for a rig. Its so easy to do a touch up job if you get a little scratch or two. Git r Done!

Alright fella' you don't have be so uptight about this subject. Your personal expirience is not wrong. I came across this topic and decided to do some research on Rusty's springs. I came across that quote and it made since to me. ( I have no personal expirence with Rusty's) Maybe your correct Rustys is junk. But don't get so uptight about it. Also when your talking about all of your non-leaning vehicles. Are you trying to tell me springs never sag? Egg
