  1. got a little bit more done. picked up a set of mj buckets with brackets for $75! they are dirty but the brackets are rust free minus some surface rust. also got the main section of the floor pan welded in. hopefully get the rest of the floor/tunnel done after work this week
  2. steering, suspension, and brakes are now complete. I'm going to keep the long hoses for now, maybe ill get shorter ones if these become a problem. i will get a solid mounting bracket for them at the frame end vs the temporary zip ties. xj brake booster installed, MC bled, rear brake lines made (pass side is ugly cause i literally had JUST enough tubing to make it) need to finish bleeding the rest of the brakes. i got new fine thread bolts for everything suspension/steering related, just need to finish swapping them out with the mock up hardware. i made the drag link a tad short and don't like how much of the rod end shafts are exposed so i got new inserts and a piece of 1.5x.25 dom to make a new one other than that all i have left to do is the floor pan(s), seats, and rear driveshaft. pretty bummed i didnt get this done before new years, but ive been busy. new "deadline" is the 21st of this month. we are going camping in the desert for my girlsfriends bday and it would make for a great shakedown here's some random pics
  3. its a tight fit but is in there. wish i had access to a press brake, would have turned out a lot cleaner. not sure on the boosters. I'm going to put the zj one in my xj as well as get rid of the abs. should help the 8.8 discs stop better. another thing i found is the mounting studs are wider on the zj booster, hence why i had to modify the mc ears to fit. i think the dodge mc would have fit the xj booster without modification
  4. Good lookin comanche!
  5. did a quick search on the gargler and the rear port is for the front disk brakes as its attached to the larger section of the reservoir. just an fyi, i guess that would make sense. ditto! my booster came from a 98 grand cherokee
  6. dumb question, but is the front port on the mc for the rear brakes and vice versa? can't seem to remember...
  7. they're both 1.25" bore, the van one is just shorter overall i think. did you have to mod the mounting ears on the van mc? i spent a few minutes with a file making this one fit
  8. the mc i got is for a ram, dorman part number M390426. the van one looks like it would have been a good choice as well
  9. right on thanks man. looks like ill go that route. I'm gonna get on of these and weld my own tabs to it https://www.ballisticfabrication.com/products/od-tube-clamp?variant=23857527239 EDIT: found a beefier one for less http://www.chassisunlimited.com/od-clamp.html
  10. that a clamp on ram mount? hows it hold up? i was thinking of welding tabs on the tie rod but need to make sure i get the alignment decent before hand..
  11. Thank you! It's been one hell of a learning process haha I think I'll put it here and see how it works out. If it gets bashed up, I'll build a guard. Did you have high steer arms on yours?
  12. Thanks man! So I think I'm going to mount the ram like this only on the side of the track bar mount (more left than in the pics). I'll add bracing to it and tie it into the upper link mount as well. It's the only place I can think of that won't get in the way of the track bar or the diff cover. It won't offer protection from the rocks though, what do yall think? The only way I see to keep it above the tie rod is mounting to the diff cover... Also replaced the shift tower seal and busing and inner shift boots since I had the parts laying around. Didn't get pics of all the parts or install but it's done
  13. its only bolted on for now, I'm going to weld it as well. its nice being able to take it on and off for the time being though haha originally mine was pretty close to the spring too and after i moved it forward i decided to drill holes for plugs welds since the track bar attaches so far from the bolts now
  14. coming along nicely, sucks about the injury. your track bar mount is very similar to mine. do you plan on welding it to your stiffeners? I'm bolting and welding mine for strength drilled 3 extra holes for plug welds
  15. love this build! got me scouring craigslist for another 2wd mj lol
  16. very nice work!
