OK so I've read most of the swap info in the diy sections. Didn't see an answer to what I'm wanting to find out. Anyways I'm about to do this swap in a couple weeks, I went to jy and picked up a booster/mc combo out of a 95 xj. With the distribution block from the 95. Can I just use the 95 distribution block instead of the current one in my truck?

i'd say that was a good call to pass on it . the ones i found i got from a couple local jeep clubs in town , i posted on there forums as to what i was looking for and within a day i got one for 30 bucks and another for free ,
-
Alright got the swap done today wasn't to bad to do , after a nice long test drive I cannot seem to stop smiling . the truck idles better smoother , the difference is noticeable from acceleration and the power through all the gears , it was even better in 5th , worthwhile upgrade to do .

OK so I've ended up with two of the 428 ECUs , so today I am going to install one of them and see how it goes. Is there going to be anything I am going to need to reset like the TPS or anything at all. Thanks
-
ok will do  search goes on.

ok so far i've been to 2 jy and have not found an ecu or any 89-90 models , anyways i have found a remaned one at oreilly's auto parts from a company called cardone? would these remaned be worth getting if i can't find a 89-90 in the jy ? i still have a couple jy to go to pickings are getting slim .
-
ok cool so the auto part don't matter then , looks like i have jy run this weekend and pick a couple ecu up , thanks rockfrog
-
nope just under the dash , this is helpful http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/, these are good tips
-
so the 429 ecu would be for the manual trans ? i have an 87 5spd i'm interested in this gain , or just go grab both and try them ?

i have same lights but i went octane lighting to get them 50 bucks for the set with blue leds, they work well good low and high beam spread change the bulbs out the cheap ones they come with suck . also go with the harness set up first like everyone has said , on mine i wired up the leds to there own harness and seperate fuseblock and switch on the dash so i could turn them on or off . oh and before i forget you'll have to trim the headlight bezel about 1/16 all the way around and you'll have to cut the headlight bucket wings off for them to fit good. overall i'm happy with them hope that helps .

Crate motors Where / what to buy
chris71 replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i would also agree build it yourself , but on that note a year and a half ago because i was pressed for time . and needed my truck running i bought an atk long block to save some time , after receiving the engine , the first thing i did was tear it down plastigauged all the bearings rods and mains checked cam and cam bearings ,lifters etc etc . checked bore you name it just to make sure it was good i must be lucky cause i got a good engine from them , i did all that because i had read all the horror stories , anyhow long story it's still running no leaks no smoke good mpg great power and about to hit 20,000 miles on it . with no issues but if i would have had more time i would have built it myself , i have since built another engine and have it ready wraped in plastic in the corner in case anything does happen with this atk engine . -
aftermarket corbeau bucket seats
chris71 replied to chris71's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah fitment is a concern , a jy find would be nice to get but everything in my area is trashed to the point if ya got them it would cost as much to fix them as it would to just buy aftermarket . -
has anyone used these in there comanche ? http://corbeau.com/jeep-pickup-comanche-74-92-seat-brackets.html just wondering i've been looking at corbeau bucket seats , and they have brackets that they say will work ? anyone know for sure ? i've been looking in my local jy for buckets but no luck so far , thanks

need help on my comanche its sick
chris71 replied to Jrwhite3230's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
what hornbrod said , and check your fuel lines including inside the tank for cracks and rot , check your fpr and fuel pressure if i remember correctly it should be around 39psi but i'd have to go look in the book to be sure , and i'm sure i am forgetting something else . -
something i found while doing the renix tips on my 87 tps adjustment for high idle , still had a high idle after, so i shut it down and started again to reset the tps while doing this i noticed the butterfly was stuck open , after investageing i found that removing the throttle cable allowed the butter fly to close , removed throttle cable sprayed clean with some clean streak i had ( can be found in any bicycle shop ) and lubed the throttle cable with a very light coat of ptfe bicycle chain lube (dry lube) at the same time i found that my throttle pedal bracket assy was loose , now i have no high idle and a nice and smooth throttle pedal , well hope that helps someone out .

you have to be careful of what you get , tc have different length input gear shafts long, med (rare) and short , in 1994 they started a change over in the tc to a short by 95 , so keep an eye on what your buying , cause it will be harder to use a newer 231 with an older transmission , i believe there are front input gears for the 231 tc that can replace what it has to work with different transmissions . as i had stated before splines counts should match 21for21 23 for 23 , late for late and early for early , ther is also more in depth reading on it at novak converisons web site here http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np-nvg-input-gears/
-
OK thanks everyone
-
ok cool thank you jackrabbit41 .
-
as long as the output trans spline and the input tc spline are the same it should work i would think , i'm doing the same conversion and my ax15 is a 23 spline from a 98 cherokee , the np231 i picked up is also a 23 spline input from a 98

did the booswerks change the location of your shift pattern ?
-
so the boostwerks is a direct link from the shifter to the tc , thats cool i could tell from looking at the pics on boostwerks site going to have to look at them again. the savings would help i case i need some other small part i may have forgotten
