  2. Dana 70* I'd feel less bad about a 70, but I wouldn't run a 70 in a Jeep, let alone on just 33s. Differential on a 70 is massive and going to knock the hell out of everything offroad on such small tires.

  4. x2 on disk brakes. I wouldn't narrow a 60 just to run 33s though. You can do an 8.8 and they're almost the same width as a D35 and stronger than a factory D44.
  5. Thanks Tom, customer service and the fact that you own a Comanche to do r&d on is why I went with HC springs. Which is something to keep in mind when purchasing new springs, I would bet most other lifted springs on the market was designed and tested for the XJ then adapted to our trucks. No facts backing that, just a thought. I very much doubt that since XJ and MJ leafs are totally different.

  7. There's not much to it if you have a chop saw and a welder. Even if you can't weld all you need to do is measure the width you want and figure out how much to chop off either end to run stock axle shafts so you don't have to have custom ones made. From there you can take it to any competent welder to have them weld the ends on for you. Check with race car shops in your area, most should be able to do it for you.

  9. They're sublet out to Linale Manufacturing in Ohio. It does actually say they outsource them on their website, but not on the page with the springs. I had to wait 3 weeks for them to order them from someone else. Didn't even get a tracking number until the first spring showed up on my door one day. I said that had I known that I'd have ordered my springs from Rusty's instead because their springs cost half of what the HC ones did as did the shipping.

  11. Years ago before I could drive. Like right around when they opened. Cool, that's exactly what I've got. I don't have any way of taking the damn wheels/tires off to swap them to the MJ at home lol

  13. Iirc it had chains in the rear. I ratchet strapped the frame to the trailer in the back on either side to reduce body roll too since I was going through mountains part of the way. I need to tow my XJ on 33x12.5s to work next week and am renting a uhaul trailer so we'll see how well that fits in the tire things. Not that worried about it though, I'll strap it down and drive slow if I have to. I'm only going a few miles, it's just not street legal anymore and sticks out like a sore thumb and I don't want to risk getting pulled with no plates, insurance, ect.
  14. Got some LED lights for Christmas. All these are from the cab. No lights. H4 headlights. Headlights and LEDs. Difference is stupid lol They'll be better when they're mounted on the winch bumper, but these are amazing at night on the farm and on the road to it. There's a $#!&load of deer around here and these should definitely help. Obviously won't use them on the main road. And since I never posted the rear bumper. Still needs to be repainted, but it's ok enough til it warms up again. Steel was too cold and the primer/bedliner didn't adhere worth a crap when I painted it
  15. Pricing is more reasonable than I expected and that's very similar to the design I had in mind if mine ever gets trashed. Might have to bookmark it. That said, I'd like to see what it looks like without the stuff that's not included that's in those pictures.
  16. I'd do it on a flat bed like that, but not the stock bed. I want less stuff to get hung up on, not more under my Jeep.
  17. Hell Creek buys theirs from another company and resells them to you. Not sure what the mark up was. If I'd known before I ordered mine I'd have just gone with Rusty's which were about half the price and much cheaper on shipping.

  19. The uhaul trailer I had had tie downs in the rear, they just weren't the over the tire kind.
  20. On the other hand. You could weld in 2x6x.25 rockers and use pipe for steps. If you bash up the pipe, who cares. You've still got plenty of protection from the 2x6. 2x6 tied in properly is going to protect you more than sliders ever will.
  21. I got mine from Nate's during November and used a 10% discount code. Paid $180 shipped and the only thing I didn't get was the receiver. Only eliminated that because I had a class III hitch, though it turned out I couldn't use it with the bumper unfortunately. If I'd known I'd have kept it and used it for a place to mount my license plate. I just ended up tapping the bumper instead though.
  22. It's not just the motor mounts that are different, the block is different entirely as are the setups for the engine accessories. The 0331 head issues are seriously blown out of proportion on forums though I wouldn't swap one in unless it was free. Head swap on a 4.0 can be done in 4-6 hours pretty easily and aside from a torque wrench you only need basic hand tools. Very simple since you can pull the head and manifolds as one piece. Well you can on an XJ/MJ, not sure if the engine bay is big enough to on a WJ. I did my first one in about 7 hours having never done one and the only time I even looked at the manual was for torque specs. I've flipped a few 00-01 XJs since after replacing 0331 heads and I can do them in about 3 hours now as long as I have someone to help lift the head an manifolds because they're heavy as hell if you pull them as one piece. As for the 0331 heads, they're a defective casting. They're prone to cracking between the 3rd and 4th cylinders if you get them too hot from overheating. But like I said before, the issue is widely blown out of proportion on Jeep forums due to people parroting information they've read. You'll find far more people complain about the heads than people who actually had issues. It's not like the 4.0 is made of aluminum, they're iron so even the defective heads you have to overheat pretty bad to crack them. Even then TUPY heads are readily available and several manufacturers make aftermarket replacements for a couple hundred bucks. The effected heads are on 00-01 XJs, 99-01.5 WJs, and 99-01.5 TJs. Some people claim up to 06 but the casting was moved to Brazil for the 02 model year and the issue was addressed but they didn't change the casting numbers.
  23. Towed mine about 6 hours back from Ashville, NC when I bought it with zero issues. 235s on it, but I had plenty of slack in the tie downs, I'm sure 31s would have fit. Ignore the Texas plates on the XJ lol
  24. $2.12 around here right now. Paid $1.93 at Kroger with my gas points the other night. Filled up my Ram for under $40.
