  1. Nope, not the fan clutch. I replaced that and sound was the same before and after.
  2. Thanks! I looked up some videos of the harmonic balancer sounds, I always thought a bad balancer was more of a squeaking sound, but this could be it, I will do some more reading on harmonic balancers...
  3. I’ve had this sound since I got it (a few months ago). I brought it in to a mechanic when I first picked up the jeep, he said it was the cat rattling. I banged around there and the cat is indeed bad, however, the sound doesn’t come from there. I have since replaced the cat (which was completely shot) and the video was recorded after the replacement, with the same sound still present. It sounds like it’s coming from the driver’s side of the engine bay. Maybe a loose bolt? It has a rhythmic quality to it… Video shows this sound from inside the cab and also at the engine bay trying to pinpoint this noise. https://youtu.be/jE9FMPCRtMg
  4. Are there any additional o rings/seals within the fuel system that I should replace while I'm at it?
  5. Not sure on this, I think the under hood light has a two port plug connector (black and red wires), that's what I found when I pulled the retractable Ford under hood light from another remix xj. Was there ever another under hood light option (smaller, non-retractable)? Mine currently does not have a light, I guess this could be it...
  6. Found this coming out of a wire loom not plugged into anything, on the passenger side, near the rear of the block close to the firewall:
  7. Thanks for the response – exactly what I was looking for, just an extra bit of confirmation before I pull an ECM from the local pull and pay (they charge $30)
  8. You want to look for Bosch # 0 280 155 746 These are the best for the Renix 4.0s. They were found in volvo's, but Bosh was the manufacturer. I would search for them by bosh part number above, some on eBay, something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121343759313?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Try to find some that have been cleaned, tested, and have all-new o-rings, pintles, There is also a guy on cherokee forum that sells sets of the 746's remanufactured and tested for a similar price. I emailed him, but never heard back, and ended up buying a cleaned/tested set on eBay for about $80 for 6 injectors.
  9. 88 with the BA 10/5 here, is it really worth the upgrade? Any difference in the upgrade on an auto vs. manual?
  10. I think it was Cruiser54 that recommended this one: http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Motor-Products-PC307-Crankshaft/dp/B000C7Y7YG/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1426120178&sr=1-6&keywords=pc307 You're saying this CPS by Standard is poor quality? Anybody else have any experience with this one?
  11. Where is this? Is this an American Motors museum or something?
  12. Any apps you can recommend? I like this idea.
  13. Thanks, I'll put that on my list. Can anyone give me some advice on purchasing a used transmission? I've never done this before, so what are the things to look out for, questions to ask, or how can I test it for wear/smoothness - just shifting it? Also, what additional parts should I make sure I get when I pick up this transmission from the seller?
  14. Are all AX-15's 23 spline output?
  15. 88 mj with the Peugeot BA 10/5 + NP231 here, beginning the process of swapping in the ax15. I found an AX15 for sale from a 93 ZJ, but does anyone know of any differences in the AX15's that went into the ZJ's? Also, the guy says it has an external slave, but I thought those didn't arrive till 94? It doesn't have the transfer case with it, so should I also be looking for an np231 from an xj that has the 23 spline?
  16. Wow! Thanks for taking the time to fix those dead photo links – myself and other people who haven't seen this before really appreciate it!
  17. Leaky fuel injector(s)?
  18. I'm looking for a device or something that can give me the following readouts: - ambient temperature - altitude - compass - inclinometer I'm sure something like this is out there, but I don't know what to search for, or what it's called. Preferably I could integrate it into the dash somewhere, but I'm also open to the kind that mounts on the windshield.
  19. Both of you guys be sure to take lots of pics of the plow in action! This should be some good snow to really put the comanche to the test!
  20. So many blue question marks, means so many good pictures. Makes me want to see what I've been missing even more,
  21. Interesting, I was not aware of this. I will add "horn" to my junkyard list. Any way to identify a 400Mhz horn?
  22. I checked the other side for another similar plug and found the horn there, but no horn on the passenger side, thanks for the reply.
  23. Passenger side, picture is looking through grill, this is near the vacuum canister. pink wire not plugged in to anything. Factory fog light harness? I tried tracing it back, it goes near back of headlight plug and links up with loom near battery.
  24. Yep, ordered my cables a few months ago (in early october) and haven't received them yet. Jon from KWiP is going through some tough times right now, and I know he does a great job on these cables, and it really is a great service for us Jeep guys, but right now it could take a while for your cables to show up. My cables aren't in too bad of shape and I can get by, but it will be worth the wait when they do arrive to get new cables in there, clean up all the grounds and have electrical all squared away.
  25. That thicker hose should connect back at the intake manifold as shown below. It routes from the vacuum canister in the passenger front bumper and makes its way to the firewall, goes behind the engine along the firewall and then attaches to the intake manifold. This is a major vacuum line that also supplies vacuum for the front axle disconnect. As for the smaller diameter hard plastic black line, you're correct – that should not be going through the motor mount, it should come out of the firewall next to the pink heater control valve line, and then head over to the passenger side wall joining up with the larger line that leads to the canister in the front bumper.
