  1. I'm doing the 4.0 in my 1986 and running into some electrical connector issues. any one know what these are for?
  2. I'm using a 1995 Cherokee as my donor, and I'll look up the guide
  3. So I am getting to the electrical part of my swap and I am toying with the idea of getting the rear harness of my donor jeep and making the wires longer to reach the back of my jeep instead of adapting the harness to my old rear harness, would this be easier than adapting it?
  4. so i have a ax15 or my 4.0 swap and I'm buying all the parts i need but I'm stuck on the clutch line and the slave , the line i found on rock auto looks like it threads into the slave but the slave looks like it is supposed to have some sort of quick disconnect to slide into, can anyone give me the parts numbers to a slave and a line that will work together, the slave i have came with luke clutch kit but all the slaves you can by them selves hav some sort of black thing in the end of it and the luke one didnt come with it has a internal slave
  5. So I have spent the day trying to get the transmission in but everytime I get it into the clutch it stops and won't go all the way in. I made sure I ordered the correct bearing and made sure it fit on the input shaft, I also made sure I used the pilot tool to make sure everything was aligned Any ideas ?
  6. So for my 4.0 swap I decided to get the steering column from the jeep I took the wiring harness from it was a 1995 Cherokee but since it was at a junkyard the key is missing, I ordered a replacement cylinder but is it possible to remove the key cylinder without the key so I can install the new one

  8. So I'm guess my problem is that I'm using a grand Cherokee engine because the 4 outta 6 bolts line up
  9. something i just though about is..... is can i get the bearing without the sleeve and pound it into the second race on the back of the engine ?
  10. ok so today i got my clutch kit and the only thing that doesnt fit is the pilot bearing. i ordered a 1993 clutch kit and its to big. i found the bearing at autozone but it doesnt include the sleeve for the bearing to be pressed into and then into the back of the engine. Does any know of a bearing i can order (.586 inside diameter i think because the one i got is .75) that will fit the sleeve for a 1994 engine ?
  11. i have completed a lot since my last post 1994 zj engine is in now, for some reason when i used the engine mounts and frame brackets i ended up having to use the driver side frame bracket for everything to line up. i didn't bang the fire wall back enough to have room to get the the transmission bolts so I'm just going to cut the fire wall from the inside to get to the bolts and then weld in a new piece of metal . i have some electrical things to deal with like getting the new harness to work with the old steering column. the engine seems to sit a little high so the zj ac compressor is hitting the hood, guess i gotta swap that for a xj compressor. still need to get the radiator fitted in i have the new clutch so i can get the transmission in
  12. I know you have to change the motor mounts to 4.0 motor mounts, do you have to change the part of the mount that goes to the frame?
  13. In my opinion I wouldn't put a turbo or supercharger on a 2.5, do what Pete said and regear and go from there. That engine will run forever if you take good care of it, I had my 2.5 for years and every mile it had a rod knock but never gave up.
  14. Like he said you could re gear for cheaper, just depends on what you want, if you rear gear you can always do a engine swap later and then have a bigger engine and lower gears
  15. 4.0 or bigger, I had a 1986 with the 2.5 and ax4 with 36 in tires and that thing couldn't handle anymore, so far with my swap I'm just under 500 and only have a few parts left to go. Your probably going to pay more than its worth for the parts and labor to have that engine rebuilt
  16. Ordered my cutch today from rock auto, I went with a luke fly wheel and a 1993 clutch kit because my ax15 is internal, I check the parts numbers for the fly wheel and the are the same between both years and I also ordered a couple different pilot bearings
  17. But I'm still wondering if a 1995 Harness will work with a 1994 engine
  18. Unless I can use parts from a 1995 Cherokee
  19. So next Thursday I'm going to the junk yard to pull parts for my swap From a 1994 Cherokee My list is Engine and dash harness Motor mounts Fuel pump Radiator Radiator support Heater box And hope fully the computer if its still there Is there anything else that I absolutely need to get 1994 grand Cherokee engine Ax15 transmission
