    Been working on another supercharged 2.5l for my YJ, so I've been bouncing between projects but, I finally cut out the windshield and finished removing the rear window. I've got a few little things to do inside then hopefully I will be done messing with the interior for a while. 20211231_160201.mp4

    They are a little different, I bent them based on how the seats sit in the truck. It looks a little wierd without the seats installed.

    Finished tacking everything up and started pulling the cage for welding, in the process I managed to knock out the back window, luckily I have a spare. I got the cage out and welded then primed it and painted it with bedliner. It's now back in the truck and bolted in place.

    I'm 6' tall. The new seats are much thinner than the Dakota seats I had in there which helps a lot, I actually have to move the seat forward a little. It might be hard to tell but some of the tubes are bent to allow the seats to go back a little further.

    No, the main hoop was part of the rock hard kit I bought and I think they made it a little too big, there was no way I was getting it in there with the interior panels installed. I considered fixing it but I'm leaning towards leaving the plastic out, it has kind of a race truck feel.

    Had to wait for some new cut hole saws to show up for the notcher, tonight I spent a few minutes in the garage and finished notching the last to pieces. Now to pull it out and weld everything.

    Got a little more done and started mocking up the reinforcements and seat belt bar for the cage.

    Nope, screwed my back up working on it and haven't touched the truck since.

    Finally tinkering on the MJ again, started working on a center console.

    That's the idea, once the harness bar is in I want to see about cross bracing the rear hoop, should make the cage a bit stronger.

    Worked on the MJ a bit and got the seats bolted down, they are as low as I could get them, feels weird sitting so low in the truck after so many years with the old seats.

    I originally made sections of the tunnel removable just for accessing the drive shaft,shifters, transfer cases,ect... it's pretty hard to get to that stuff from underneath due to the tummy tuck. At this point I'm not sure if I'm going to modify the first tunnel I made or make a new one. I think a custom tube center console would look pretty cool, so we will have to see what I do with it.

    Not much to update, I pulled the truck out and cleaned up the garage a bit. I also started cutting the tunnel, looks like I will be able to lower the seats by a few inches.

    Try backing off the through bolts, then loctite the nuts in place at whatever tension the vibration stops at. Should help, playing with the bolt tension can even get poly mounts to calm down significantly.

    I modified the rails from the Dakota seats and moved them over to the new seats. I think I'm going work on the transmission tunnel and see if I can get them to sit a little lower, otherwise they are pretty much were they are going to be.

    I haven't had a chance to mess with them yet, I had to make rails for my Dakota seats so for now the plan is to try to rework them to fit the Corbeau seats. I looked at their brackets, seems people complain that they sit pretty high, I want to keep the seats low if I can. Hopefully soon I can toss them in the truck so I can finish the cage work.

    Took a month but the seats have arrived, now I can finish up the roll cage.

    More stuff trickled in, not sure how much I'm going to like the harnesses but I will give them a try. Last night i ordered up some more tube for the seat belt bar and to X the back of the cage,I also got some gussets to add in places, the cage should be pretty sturdy. Now I need my order from Corbeau to show up so I can figure out the placement of the X and seat belt bar.

    For now I need to add at least a harness bar, once the new seats are in I will see what I can do to beef up the rear hoop,eventually I want to beef it all up a bit and add an external halo over the cab. It's a good start.

    My MJ originally didn't have it, up to 31" tires it was manageable but once I went to 33s it was a necessity. A street truck with small tires would be ok, you will wish you had power on anything that goes off road.

    Didn't get to tinker on the MJ much this weekend, but I did get the spare strapped down.

    The new wheels are much nicer, I wish I had bought a 5th wheel for the spare.

    Today I finished up the wiring in the bed and started trying to figure out a home for the spare tire, after trying a few ideas I ended up with it sitting partially over the battery box. I think it should work out good there.

    Since I was in there doing the fuel gauge, I decided to hook up the stereo. I disconnected it in 2014 when I did the MPFI harness swap and never got around to hooking it up again, it has just been filling a hole in the dash all this time. I rarely used the stereo since retiring it from daily driver duty years ago, but now it works if I decide too.
