Anything's possible, but they killed the SE (and the 2.5L with it) after 00'. To make it even simpler, they even dumped the 49 state emissions 4.0L. (leaving just the low emissions 4.0L, with a gazzilion o2 sensors, and pre-cats for 01'.)

I've seen a few in the junkyards (20 years ago). More in AMC cars, than Jeeps, anyone around 40 might remember the CB craze in the late 70's, eary 80's. It was like the internet before there was an internet. :D FWIW, those CB mic's are wired backwards from standard Cobra mic's. I found a brand new perfect AMC mic exactly like the pic (handset only) at an AMC show. Took it on a trail run (didn't test it, and left my old Cobra handset at home  ), and had to destroy the plug, to swap the 4 wires around so it would work. :headpop:

(very) minor point, but there were no 2001 4cyl XJ's. (unless they snuck some in for fleet models, or something, since the books don't show them)

Not like a TJ D44, the Venezuela XJ D44's were high pinion. Currie imported a batch of them a few years ago, though you don't see them around much. Here's a Fourwheeler build that used one: http://www.fourwheeler.com/featuredvehi ... hotos.html (don't know if they sourced it from Currie, or not).

I've read most of his stuff, started that series ~1992, then had to wait 5, or 6 years for the next one to come out. :fs1: I actually got the books in the picture from the man hisself. They released it a day early at a mom & pop store in Connecticut, with SK & the illustrator signing them. We drove down the night before, and slept in the Cherokee to get them. (FWIW, I did not like how the book ended).

IFS Dodge & Ferd. :smart: (some of the Ranger guys even swap IFS 35's in as an upgrade. :dunno: ) Wow, if the 35 is an upgrade, what the HELL was in there before? :D Dana 28, w/ 1" 23sp shafts. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... Axles.html D35 IFS vs D28 IFS (Ford stuff, NOT JEEP)

Wow LG, thanks for digging that up. (I've been searching all day). In my foggy memory, I remember it being cut down in all directions like that one, but I was thinking it was on an MJ bed (& not a Cheromanche). Unless there was a copycat, I'd say that was the one. I'm considering doing the same thing, with this gem: and wanted to take another look. Thanks for the (huge) help.

I just searched 3 computers here looking for this pic, but I can't seem to find it. :dunno: I don't know if I originally found it here, or not, but figured someone might have it. A guy had cut down a J10/J20 tailgate to fit an MJ, and it looked awesome. So, anyone have a copy of it to share? (I swear I'm not  )

After 8 hours of going through every service manual, parts book, data book & factory brochure I have, I made a list of this stuff, and it's as correct as that information will allow. Some will say it's wrong, or they had x.xx in an xx, or whatever, and that's fine. None of the Jeep's I've had, or taken apart have conflicted with this list, but that doesn't mean it takes into effect every regional option, or special order available. I will say I've heard people swear to combo's that the parts don't even exist in the parts books, so take everything (this list included) with a grain of salt.

 Love it. Needs a little tweaking/supports, and a roll up curtain on the end, but I really like the military look.

OK, still haven't cleared the party debris out of 'the Jeep room', but here's a Comanche Booklet I had scanned before: Has pages of the sponsored MJ's at the time:

X3 on the 4spd, All the factory literature says it got either a 5spd manual, or 3spd auto. They show a stripper MJ, with a 2.5L/4spd manual, as available from 85, right till the very end, but not behind the 2.8L.

Me too. :D I notice they put the Jeep grill on it, and 'JEEP' on the tailgate. I have some of the older HW 'Scramblers' where they changed the grill (made the bars go the other way) to appease Chrysler after they bought Jeep, haven't had a chance to compare them yet, I wonder if this is the same model, or if they totally re-cast it.

$200 for a knock down rear bumper kit is a great idea  The style isn't exactly what I'd want, but  to a very creative design. I've been wanting to do 'something' to my current bumper, and this has put my thinking into a slightly different direction. Thanks for posting it.

Rollers  That's sidewalk chalk. :D Just had my son's (5 year) birthday party. Stuff like bubbles (Eyore is a bubble maker BTW), and sidewalk chalk come out of the playroom when it's filled with 15 screaming 5 year olds. 'The Jeep Room' is is a glorified closet, and ends up being convienent short term storage for all kinds of non-Jeep stuff. :dunno:

No matter what you do, I don't think you're gonna get the job done with a driveshaft that short. (no matter what this guys says: ;) ) (joking aside) Have you tried Jesse @ HAD's http://highangledriveline.com/ for his high angle stuff? (I've read enough negative things about 'The Driveshaft Superstore' to scare me off, but research & make up your own mind). 'HAD' has a modified Toyota joint that works for most people, but doesn't even get in the ballpark of 62* (!). I know he has some special built higher angle stuff when that's not enough, I don't know if any of it will do what you want it to, but either way, if you haven't called Jesse, you probably should. Atlas's are tough, but binding out & breaking CV's is gonna hurt that ft output sooner, or later. Personally, I think I'd be looking at: 1) Doing a doubler, to add 10", or so to the ft shaft 2) and still limiting downtravel on the pumpkin side, to keep whatever shaft I get from maxing out the angle.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I never noticed, Maybe I should seperate them. :clapping:

Great thread idea! I'm gonna do my best to go through some stuff, and scan some of it tomorrow. "Jeep Room" is a mess, but here's a sneak preview:

Yup, January 13th I had a heart attack. 42 years old IS TOO YOUNG!!! But they rebiult me better, stronger, faster... CW so what's too young? i had 2 in '02 (feb and march) when i was 32. i've been heart attack free for 7 years now. yipee!! Appologies to the OP, for the sidetrack...... but count me in too  May 2nd last year (@39 years old), I skipped right by the heart attack, went into Cardiac Arrest, and died. :( GF noticed, started CPR, till the Parametics got there, 6 hits with the paddles, and I was back in buisness. V-fib,flatline & more V-fib for anyone that can read these things: Must be a Comanche thing. ;) Hope both you guys are doing much better now.

Renix to HO fuel line HELP!!!
jpnjim replied to CRF136N's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I also spliced mine at the firewall. Kinda had no choice, since whoever originally pulled my 92 4.0L cut the rubber lines. Barbed fittings are probably alot better, but I just chopped the factory hard lines at the firewall, flared the ends a little (instead of just leaving them cut off straight), and used high pressure fuel line clamps (I think the only difference is they're designed not to cut into the hose). -
I remember taking it off to ramp the MJ, only to get questions & wierd looks from everyone: Them: "how does taking the tailgate off make you ramp better?" Me: "that way I don't back off the side of the ramp"

Nice job man, keep us updated.

Optima batteries are fine if you plan on running them upside down. Otherwise they're a waste of $$ IMHO. I agree with Tom on the Autozone Gold Top Duralast battery. Mine's coming up on seven years now and still going strong. :D But if you ask the parts drone at Autozone for one they'll look it up and sell you the 58-DLG (Group 58) battery, because that what the 96 and below XJ/MJs used. It's specs are 800 cold cranking Amps (1000 cranking Amps). BUT the newer 97 and up XJs used the 34-DLG (Group 34) battery. It's specs are 800 cold cranking Amps (1000 cranking Amps). The size difference is neglible, and the group 34 batteries fit just fine in our rigs w. no mods. And they are the same price, so it's a no-brainer. So if you don't care for the Autozone battery for some reason, and like Interstate or Exide or some other brand, ask for the Group 34 battery 'cause it's beefier, fits fine, and it's the same $$. X3 on this. Only difference I did was get the duel post version (34DT-DLG). I had to tell them 98' XJ when I got one for the MJ, since they wanted veh info for the warrenty (and couldn't put it under the MJ, since it doesn't come up as fitting :shake: ). I've had one in the XJ for a couple of years now, and just bought one for the MJ about 6 months ago: AutoZone Dura-Last Gold 34DT-DLG Duel Terminal 1000 cranking amps (800 cca) Made in USA (atleast the two I have are) Made by Johnson Controls 3 year free replacement (8 year total warrentee)

Yep, I would usually pop off the tailgate to see better backing up, never had an MJ bed loosen up on me (even the one I crushed the side in on, then pulled out didn't seem to mind).
