  1. Despite the rain and the 30 degree temperature difference, I managed to install my front shocks. Drivers side: Passenger Side: Back to work tomorrow. Jeff
  2. It may seem to some to be foolish or outdated, but I still believe in my America... Image Not Found
  3. I'd like to hit that pull a part. They have a little newer stuff than we do up here, I want to get away from the older style calipers and rotors. Looking for late 90-early 99. Lots of options there, and new parts are pretty inexpensive. The ZJ box has a quicker ratio than the stock MJ/XJ box. I may be wrong on the numbers but I think the XJ is 14.1:1 and the ZJ is 12.6:1. Plus it a '97 box at the pull a part was about $23.
  4. Looks like I figured out what my new avatar will be, hope no one is offended.
  5. My son, Jake and I hung the D30 and the LCAs, he had classes this afternoon so I was on my own after that: I managed the UCAs, bumpstops,...: ...springs,...: ...swaybar and endlinks.: Total progress: Pretty productive day, IMHO. I didn't get my shocks installed because I'm missing the sleeves for the upper bushings. I'll go looking for them tomorrow. Last look:  Jeff
  6. I got a break in the rain yesterday and went to the pull apart. I found some '93 spindles but even with a four foot pipe on my long handled 1/2 drive ratchet I couldn't break the axle nut loose. I still managed to score some skids, though. I got the one for the front and the one for the t-case for $8.99. I tried to tell the lady she priced them wrong, but she wouldn't hear it. Oh well: I'm never mentioning the weather in here again, every time I do it turns out cold and rainy. So after two weeks of pre-assembling of parts I finally got to put something back on the MJ. Actually made a little progress today. I pulled the oil pan and repainted it last week, and I finally got to button that up today: I'd bought a '98 ZJ steering box last month and installed it today w/ the stock pitman arm:
  7. Wow, flattering and true...nice choice for the knob . jeff
  8. I hope so, I've got a lot of time and $ in them and they haven't left the basement yet.
  9. ...been there and it lasted less than 2 weeks.
  10. purdy is good :clapping: It's Krylon Engine Enamel Semi-Gloss Black. I deal with Allen heads at work everyday, I kinda like 'em. thought about it, but the wife says red will clash with the sofa... Thanks.
  11. The bolts for the spring hold downs were stripped so I tapped them out to 3/8 and got a little inventive...: The last of the parts for the pile came in today, JKS goodies...: Hopefully I'm going to start putting it back together Sunday or Monday, again weather permitting. Jeff
  12. Seems the few days I've had off in the past couple of weeks have been the only rainy ones. I've pretty much got all of my front end pieces together. The only thing I haven't gotten yet are the spindles/hubs. I haven't decided if I'm going to run cast or composite rotors yet. I did finish cleaning up my '99 D30. I think with all the rainy days I may have went overboard. I'm a big fan of before and after pics, so here's a pic before it ever went into anything...: ...and after...: ...I had my brother in law re-weld the drivers side upper bushing mounts, the lower control arm mounts and a few other places that looked a little rough. I installed new upper control arm bushings...: ...Repainted my Alloy USA diff cover and found some stainless button heads to hold it on...: ...The poly bushings on top of the spring perches along with the poly stock replacement bushings are going to give me about 2 3/4" of total bump stop...: ...I'm also reusing the axle tube seals I installed when the diff was in my XJ...:
  13. Thanks, weather permitting, next Sunday I'm going to start on it.
  14. It's the front portion of my 3.5" Rubicon Express kit from my XJ, I'm staying with the SUA on the rear (8.25 w/3.55's) and run HellCreek 4.5 leaf packs and Bilstein 5100's or 5150s.
  15. CW may have said something about Bilsteins... :dunno:... Lucked up and picked up 2 from a guy on a local forum. New and never installed, $135... ...and the parts pile continues to grow.
  16. This guy modified a Renix TPS to work on a HO throttle body... http://www.rockmodified.com/Tech/TB/tb_perf.htm
  17. Yes. I read about it on NAXJA--- http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=906582 ---installing a newer cover simplifies the hoses and tubing and it also has a better baffle system.
  18. late model valve cover:
  19. Last look at the '00 XJ lifted: RE control arms and a fresh coat of paint: The $6.36 valve cover and about 2 hrs worth of work later: Bits and pieces:
  20. I'm going to hold out for a SWB Roll Bar. I pm'd you long bed guys with the guy's contact info...
  21. If it turns out to be a lot of trouble I'll forward you his info.
  22. It's a factory bar, according to the owner. He says it mounts on top of the wheel wells.
  23. A local guy has roll bar I get get fairly reasonable, but it's for a LWB. Has anyone modified a LWB roll bar to fit a SWB? What all was involved? Thanks, Jeff
  24. It's the same texture as the factory stuff. There's not as much backing as the factory, but even just stuck in there I think looks pretty good.
  25. That may be a tight squeeze, you can take what you need or want. I was kidding about the beer, whatever you take will help me out. PM me and I'll send you my email address etc.
