It seems like a fuel issue , I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge , and while cranking it takes a while for the needle to finally move up and when it does the Truck starts and the fuel pressure is at 24 psi , would that cause all of these issues ?also when I turn the truck off the needle goes down to zero again .

I need your guys's help , my 87 comanche 4.0 5 speed ba105 , has been having a quite a few issues lately and I need help narrowing them down and fixing it , I'm a high school student and I don't have money to be throwing parts at it and need my truck as my dd :/ Anyways my jeep is really hard to start , takes a long to crank and when it starts it runs really poor 100-400 rpm and either it's smooth out sometimes and go to normal idle or it'll die , if it dies it'll restart and will idle . Then when I let it warm up and I go for a drive it's seems like engine has no power at all , it bucks , backfires through the intake and then it'll pick up again and get power back but it's keep repeating those steps , seems like if I push the pedal all the way down to the floor it won't backfire but it still feels weakish :( , if I cycle the key a bunch a times like 10 times it improves the starting and it starts up faster I recently replaced the fuel filter to see if it helped and no diffrence [emoji53] . If you guys can help I would really appreciate it :)

Latley the truck lost power during acceleration and then power would come back and was also backfiring through the intake and would also misfire [emoji19] and now today she wouldn't start , and I think I found the culprit Burnt cps cable :(

This might sound dumb and Maybe the badge has been replaced , but If you look closley at the tail gate it seems like it has the old "Renix" 4.0 badge , and not the high output badge

If you don't have cruise control then I doubt it's going to have 2 cables , both of my Comanches don't have cruise control and have a 1 piece cable , do you know if your jeep maybe had the cruise control removed ?

Does your jeep have cruise control ? If so yours will have two cables , iirc there is a short end that goes from the speedometer to the cruise control thing idk what it's called or coupler as what you called it , disconnect the cable that goes from the speedo to the black coupler . My jeep doesn't have cruise so I can't show a picture , but I did work on a cherokee that did have cruise . Iirc There's a nut that connects the cable to the black coupler . Remove that nut and and if you can pull the cable out and that should allow you to pull the cluster .

When mines fell out , I couldn't find a new replacement anywhere . Maybe there are replacements i don't know , but I found mines on a old little toyota pick up at the yard , instead of taking just the glass I took the whole top assembly out and bolted right up to mines . You just need to remove the bottom bolt of the assembly and it'll come out . I'll try to post a pic later , they seem to be identical

Replaced with a good working cable and checked the gear and it looks good but it still doesn't work . I'm not sure what to do now [emoji53]

My 88 does the same but out of curiosity I slightly hit the oil pressure sender with a small wrench and it went back to normal :/

Mines 2wd , will a cable from a 4wd work ? Also does it have to be Manuel only ? I went to the jy today and almost all Cherokees were 4wd auto or 4wd stick . Only one was 2wd but it was an auto :(

1987 jeep comanche 4.0 5speed BA 105 My speedo hasn't been working for a long time so I pulled the cable and I saw that it's missing the metal end on it , so do you guys know if i need a new cable or can I get the missing metal end from the junk yard ?
