I'm having similar issues. The floor and vents blow air, but when switching to defrost, I hear the fan definitely blowing, but only miniscule about of air is blowing from the defrost vents. Like its being blocked.

I can't even imagine what would happen if I did that!

Got some updates with pictures. I got some new door panels and love them and also got a instrument bezel. Glad I have the hockey stick style handles now, and also my speakers are covered up now. I think it looks pretty good. My intentions for the interior is to stay the dark grey panels and instruments, repaint the side trim pieces light grey, get light grey carpeting, and and reupholster my bench seat light grey. So light and dark grey with some wood accents. We'll see I installed the clear side markers as well, don't look at the dirt. I also replaced my radiator, thermostat and housing, and water pump. I have officially solved my overheating problem. Now I need to fix my leaking valve cover its come from the filler plug. I plan to get all new vacuum lines and harnesses. and a new air filter. While working on it, I here the loudest buzzing Ive ever heard from my fathers bee hives, They were going crazy this morning

Aftermarket Stereo Going Into "protect" Mode
BryceOJ replied to schardein's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds to me that when depressing the brake you hit or move a wire that is causing this? But I'm sure that you have check this kind of thing already? If the brake is clear of hitting or moving any wire then my second guess is that it has something to do with while pressing the brake your brake lights turn on cause some electrical quirk. That's just my two cents. I don't have more electrical expertise but thought I give you what I would think would cause it to help you diagnose yourself. I'm not much I'm sorry. What I would do is make sure that grounds for all wiring are good, and that there are all correct fuses in the fuse box and check for any blown ones. After that check all your speaker wires go to and from the head unit. Look up what causes the unit to go into protect mode. Maybe a wire goes loose due to inertia while braking? Make sure the wires are secure -
It maybe for 1990 4 cylinders and later. It may differ a little but it should provide some slight help for the less obvious things.

I maybe fairly new ,young, and not engrained into this community as some of the members are, but I am sincerely sorry about having to go through surgery, but certainly it is for the better. I am glad that you are recovering well from what it seems. You will be in my prayers to have a speedy and good recovery.

Figured that Id start updating this maybe you guys can provide inspiration and support as I just continue to fix and restore my comanche. Its been a slow process on a college kids budget and busy schedule. Its not going to be a 4x4 offroad mj, nothing to exciting for you guys, just keeping it stock and preserving it the best of my abilities.. Ill get better about posting pics starting this weekend. Ive been learning so much through the club and you all have been so helpful dealing with my stupid questions as being a hardly amateur mechanic, I learned my gearing is 4.56 which ive heard is rare, not really sure is this a good gearing or bad. Got the 2.5l with it. Ive been dealing with an overheating problem, replaced thermostat and water pump still an issue, got a radiator on the way. Hopefully thatll fix it. Once thats fixed, ill continue on upgrading and getting it to tip top shape. Things ive acquired to put on it are some fog lights, and gonna install the b pillar speaker brackets that I acquired recently. I have plans to put a brush guard, just one of those small ones ive seen on some that i just can't figure out where to find. I plan to add in a nice bed liner. replace the door panels, weather stripping, add in power steering, and replace suspension parts. Heading to the local JY this weekend Ill get back with what I find. thank you all in advance!

Assortment Of Questions Regarding My 2.5L
BryceOJ replied to BryceOJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its not like oil, its more of just rust particles maybe? The car before last year sat in a drive way a couple years. Not sure last time someone replaced radiator fluid I'm gonna pull my radiator out and run a hose through and see if I can see if more comes out. and flush everything -
Assortment Of Questions Regarding My 2.5L
BryceOJ replied to BryceOJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats what I'm gonna do, maybe get to it tomorrow. Ive had the truck for 1 year, got it this time last summer, and since then ive put maybe 3k miles on it or less. Ive replaced fuel filter, cap/rotor, battery, oil/oil filter, spark plugs, CPS, thermostat, tstat housing, radiator cap. Ive done things that werent too hard and that I could do, since I am not auto mechanic savvy,, but Ive been learning. I had no problems all year until it got warmer. -
Assortment Of Questions Regarding My 2.5L
BryceOJ replied to BryceOJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay I have an Update with the condition of my truck. Hopefully someone will see this cause I need a lot of help. I will try and be as descriptive as possible. So I think I am still having an overheating problem or multiple problems. I have replaced the thermostat and the waterpump, with a correct direction waterpump for the turpentine belt and the tstat is a 195 like stock. When it overheated the first time and boiled over, I drove for maybe 1 hour when it was one of the hotter days at the beginning of summer. So after replacing the pump last weekend, I drove it today for about thirty minutes, and as I was driving and mostly after I was driving for a little while, I had really low power compared to when my truck was operating normally. Acceleration was really slow, as when I would put the petal all the way down it was only creeping to speed, and can tell a lot slower. After parking and looking at the engine, I notice oil running down from the oil filler cap. I was having a valve cover leak from the bolts earlier as well and i replaced and got a new gasket when i replaced the water. there are no more leaks out the sides. but now its leaking from the cap, I pulled off the cap and a fair amount of smoke was coming from it. I ran the engine at idle and pulled the oil cap off, and there was quite a bit of air being blown from it as the engine was running, is this normal??? It seems there is a lot of pressure in my engine. So the symptoms i think I am having are low power/slow acceleration, its running hot, and a lot pressure in the engine, causing the air and slight oil to escape from the oil cap. My guesses of what it could be is maybe a clogged exhaust maybe a clogged cat converter? the muffler was replaced a year ago. Maybe a head, or head gasket issue? or maybe a vacuum issue? Or I have yet to replace the radiator, and after driving today I took the cap off the radiator and there was brown gunk at the top, and I just put in new coolant, need a new radiator? what do you guys think or suggest my next step should be? -
I noticed it too once I looked more closely, so My bulb clearly works maybe my sensor has gone because when my engine overheated, the light wasnt on.
-
Okay I think that mine are fine now. The sensor may have gone bad though
-
I guess not lol
-
I'm not sure. Maybe so. I just figured like in any other car when you turn the switch before you start the engine all warning lights turn on to do a test to see all light come on and then once started turn off?
-
Hoping this will be an easy question to answer and an easy problem to fix . So I have the idiot light cluster. And aren't all the lights for warning bulbs supposed to illuminate when the key is switched to on? When I do it only the oil and battery light come on. The temperature light doesn't come on. I replaced the bulb thinking it was burnt. But it's not the case. Will replacing the temperature sensor fix that? Or is there a disconnected electrical wire?

Haven't fished in lake Drummond, but have fished in many other lakes around the same area
-
That way to search is going to help me out a lot haha. And would love to see a 2.5l sub section.

I'm just wondering to see who in the club is around me so when I go to nearby areas I can keep my eyes peeled :laughin: . I live in Isle Wight County, close the Suffolk. I have yet to see any comanche with a club sticker, havent even seen many comanches in general at all. And if anyone wants to meet up and talk jeeps, or even go fishing, I'm big into that as well.
