I found this place via Google. If I wanted just to find an emblem, I could have Googled. I was hoping for more than just a Google. I was hoping for advice on who to buy from, and maybe an endorsement. Or maybe if someone had one they wanted to sell, etc. I was in college using the internet before Al Gore was even elected. ;) WYK

Does anyone know a good source for these? I have one that is made for the perforated front end, but mine is made for the stick-on one.
-
It can come out great: You still need to prep and buff it afterwards for best results. But, it is the easiest way to paint; quick and easy, and there is no over spray.
-
OK, here it is buffed, polished, and waxed. It's not a mirror shine, but at least it doesn't look like a spray can job.
-
Damn right, I did. I also went out in 100* weather and used 'Super Hard" Turtle Wax. Even though I used water with it, it was a HUGE pain to wax off. Hai yah! I am parked in the shade for now, but I took a pic anyways. I'll have an image in sunlight in an hour or two. I also paintd the lettering of the "COMANCHE" badge Gray to match the truck: Once that wax comes off, I think I am gonna roller paint it flat beige or tan.
-
Nah. No need to. I am NOT gonna endorse using spray cans! ;) Mine only came out halfway decent because I have some experience painting, and am patient. If yer gonna DIY - use a roller or a HVLP gun. Using a spray can is just brutal - that was 16 cans and ~4-5 passes overall. I just got done wet sanding it. I am considering changing the color now, or just waxing it until I get the nerve to change the color ;) If it wasn't 100* outside, it would be easier to decide to repaint it. As it is, even though I have been painting and working on it from 7-11AM, it is still brutal. At least the finish is even now. It is darker in person than it appears in the pics, tho. I'll wax her and put up some more images tomorrow maybe. Wish I hadn't put those badges on now... Well, the good news is if I do repaint it, that thing is never gonna lose it's paint ever again. As it is it has the original primer on most of it, some original paint, a couple of layers of some dupont paint, and now a few layers of rustoleum. I am also gonna repaint that stupid Comanche badge - I thot it would come out much more tame. That thing is blazing yellow. WYK

Hey all. I got tired of seeing rust and metal, and decided to repaint the Comanche. I bought what was on sale at Home Depot(Rustoleum Smoke Gray), sanded and spot primered what was left on the truck, and then hit it with about 4 coats of the stuff. Now it looks like a very nice, smooth primer job..er... It took 18 hours of work on and off over 4 days, it needs one more polish maybe and then I am gonna clear coat it with all the emblems on and then wax it. If I had to do it over again, I woulda used a roller instead of cans. The cost was about $60 all in all start to finish. This is the progression reel:

I enjoy a lil Trek on occasion, but being as I am 1/4 Japanese and 1/4 Korean, I just happen to know those lil facts about the actors. My other half is Cherokee and German. Yes, I have an ugly name - Wesley Yung Yoshi 'Angry-Badger' Keller - WYK for short. However, I am a huge fan of British TV, and watch it daily, as well as having lived in England and Ireland for a time. So, Simon Pegg is a familiar actor to me. You guys prolly know him best from 'Shaun Of The Dead". If you haven't seen it, and ya like Zombie Comedies like 'Zombieland', you'll enjoy this English take on it.

Just as a note: Hikaru Sulu was played by George Takei, whom is of Japanese descent - not Chinese. Roddenberry wanted him to represent 'all of Asia' so gave him a relatively Asian sounding surname that was borrowed from the Sulu Sea in Asia. "Hikaru", however, is a Japanese name. Anyone familiar with the Macross series should be familiar with that vorname. Oh, it gets better - John Cho, the latest actor to portray Sulu on the screen, is of Korean descent. He, of course, is also not Chinese. What I thought was odd was casting Simon Pegg as Scotty. He is an Englishman. And stranger yet, Anton Yelchin, whom speaks perfect English, and some of you may recall his role in Terminator Salvation as Kyle Reese, is actually a real Russian originally from Leningrad/St. Petersburg. He had to lay the accent on 'ridiculously thick' for the part. He spells his name: Антон Викторович Ельчин http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LsFdM9Xipg WYK

Not everyone knows everything. I would rather someone ask before they tried to get creative. Perhaps you are projecting some frustration from somewhere else...

Good thing you didn't have a 715. I was nearly killed when I was 12 when someone left their parking brake off. I've used my ever since I started driving. If there is an incline, I will put the wheels right and shove it in the appropriate gear.

Bumper end caps replacement options?
wyk replied to wyk's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Excellent. Thanks a bunch, guys. -
The lil rubber caps on the ends of my bumpers have had it. So they cracked. One of the fronts fell off, one disintegrated, and the rears are about as bad. What options do I have as far as replacements? Obliged, WYK

Thanks very much for all your inputs. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Nah, it didn't seem like a good idea. Thanks for the replies, guys.

I am looking to tow my Comanche behind a Colorado. Does anyone know where I can get a tow bar that works for this application? How have you guys gone about it previously?

I have some time on my side, so I thought maybe I would take the scenic route to Fresno this weekend to meet up with some pals before heading off to college. Other than the fact this route ends up in Fresno*cough*, whatcha think of it? Anyone done this? I am gonna leave Friday after lunch: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=lake+forest+park,+wa&daddr=WA-107+S+to:US-101+S+to:Park+Dr+to:US-101+S%2FOregon+Coast+Hwy+to:US-101+S%2FOregon+Coast+Hwy+to:39.448919,-123.354492+to:fresno,+ca&hl=en&geocode=Fdy12AIdACS2-Ckv_7z9tBGQVDGy97uR2FSE7g%3BFUbrywIdhDOg-A%3BFUDRyAId8NGf-A%3BFbAqvgIdNkOd-A%3BFRZWrwIdaJmc-A%3BFTB7jgId4tuU-A%3B%3BFc-5MAIdMmvc-CmdTp5U4V2UgDERuKNJZEASew&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=6&sz=9&via=1,2,3,4,5,6&sll=39.88445,-123.706055&sspn=1.544804,3.529358&ie=UTF8&ll=45.460131,-124.057617&spn=22.527251,56.469727&z=5

Cognac is basically re-distilled and aged Brandy . I enjoy them both(Brandy and Cognac). Cognac is basically a type of brandy. I occasionally buy a bottle to break up the Bourbon/Scotch cycle. WYK

i think if your links are 2"longer then the tires won't rub there at all. i had something very similar on a 3"lift . on removing them : i drove an xj (stock height) from vancouver to edmonton with the swaybar disconnected. ------- never again !!!! it was like a ride at the fair - a very unpleasant one! Good point. I think the previous owner only lifted it and didn't touch the swaybar. I hate it when they move the headstones, but leave the graves.

I thot it went: Vinting - wine Distilling - hard liquors like Whiskeys etc. Brewing - beer Wonder where Cognac falls... I would love to have my own distillery.

I was joking. I know EVERY car nearly has the euro plate cut out that also is sold in countries outside the US. I spend much of my time outside the US, afterall. I put a winky smily on the post for a reason. However, I think it's for soccer moms. It's a woman's vehicle. Not one for a man. No winky there. As for build quality, it won't last very long, and will have the same build the current Cherokees have or worse. Nothing is overbuilt anymore, and computers are used liberally to massage every bit of profit out of a car possible - which usually goes against longevity and ruggedness when it comes to soccer mom vehicles. WYK Again, I am going to end up going against the grain here. I like it. It appears to be well built, and has gotten excellent reviews. It's not what we like as a group, but its made to compete with luxury suv's... you can't be equal in ride with a set of solid axles. It's less about what we as enthusiasts want anymore, its about what will sell. I think that it has potential to do well. As for the euro plate thing, take a look next time you are cursing down the road. Cherokee's have it, blazers have it, caravan's have it... most small domestic cars have provisions for it. I like the commercial, and feel that it does what they are trying to do, and instill some pride into an American product. Fiat designed or not, its still built in America, by Americans. I have a 2" lift and was wondering if I would get the fwy wigglin if I removed my front swaybar. My tires rub against it badly long before full lock(31's).

I haven't shaved my face close in 15 years. I use a pair of adjustable shears for management of the perma beard and touch up with a blade here and there to keep it 'neat'.
