redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
sweet, well i guess i'm gonna have to borrow my old man's tires since he has 235/75/R15s on his wrangler, kinda curious as to how that'd look, Redwolf -
been diggin on here and on google, i can't seem to find any places (for example JC Whitney) that seem to have anything for MJs and i can't seem to find anything on here unless i'm just that blind or i'm not lookin in the right places, any websites i could take a look at other that rock auto, JC Whitney and 4 wheel parts? sweet, would there be any ride difference maybe a little more clearance, i wonder how it's look :hmm:  Redwolf -
i gotta question, i can't tell what type of tranny i have i know it's a 5 speed manual with an extornally mounted clutch slave cylinder but i don't know if it's a T4, T5, AX 4 OR AX 5, it doesn't have 4 wheel drive, is there any way to id what it is? also could the 2.8 v6 with the 5speed manual tranny handle 235/75/R15 tires, i currently have 225/75/R15 and got a nice set of 235s in my back yard, also would they rub anywhere? Redwolf

all i've really seen is folks modin MJs, nothin goin OEM stock but i'll dig dipper and see what i find, Redwolf
-
that would so work right now, Redwolf

gotta question for yall, where do yall get yalls accessoiers for these project MJs, such as the light bar in the bed, lift kits, fender flares, all that kinda stuff and even proformence like engine, tranny, transfer case, everything down to the air fliter, i only ask because one day i'll be gettin another MJ and it's gonna be my "fun truck" for everything, muddin, rock crawlin, ya name it i'll do it in the "fun truck", i'm currently in the process of restorin my MJ so i could use so help on gettin stuff for that MJ like stock bumpers, rims, etc, Redwolf

it's alright, i found one this mornin on http://www.4wheelparts.com/ they call it a cluch slave cylinder plastic pivot, bought 3 of em, hopefully they don't all break tryin to get the slave cylinder in, thanks for checkin though, Redwolf
-
I haven't tried. Whoops. Will look for it this evening. please do, i can't find one in any of the junkyards around my area and i tried em all although did find 2 MJs but with a straight 6 and an auto tranny both 4 wheel drive too, such a shame to see somethin so beautiful rot away :( Redwolf
-
yeah i learned that the hard way, also learned that my slave cylinder is a chrysler slave cylinder which explains why i can't find a s10 with one, Redwolf
-
Just wonderin, were ya able to get the cone off? Redwolf
-
yeah i found that out today when i hooked everything up and still had no clutch i think so, i slipped a 10mm wrench over the rod and beat the rod once with a hammer but my cone had broke into 2, it's worth tryin somethin like that, Redwolf
-
bump, i really need help, is there a special way that rod goes in, does it need the plastic cone? i'd really like to know before a go out and my a slave cylinder that i probably don't need Redwolf
-
that aint a bad idea there, i'd be game for that once stuff is done breakin on my MJ, Redwolf
-
Scott Hummell or Redwolf 1986 comanche Virginia Beach, Va
-
alright folks, i've been lookin around online and the only slave cylinder i can find with a "cone" on the rod for the cylinder is for the 2.1 diesel engine for an 86 MJ, my question for yall is how long is the rod in the picture for a slave cylinder for a 2.8 v6 engine? Redwolf just incase yall wanna see the slave cylinder
-
i pulled the clutch slave cylinder yesterday to bleed it and installed it back in, pressed the clutch in to start my MJ for a test drive and a heard a loud ta-tink, i took the slave cylinder back off today to check weather or not i had blown a seal, the cylinder or broke the rod, sure enough the hard plastic piece on the end of the rod had broken in half, doesn't look like the rod itself is damaged so how does the rod go in and how long is it, the only reason i ask is because everything the previous owner's "machanic" touched is broke or breaking, Redwolf

i have one and i already one another, they are very addictin, Redwolf

Cranks But won't Turn Over
redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my starter does have a shim and i did find out why my MJ wouldn't start after puttin the transmission back in, the distributor had been backed out a little so i could get to the top transmission bolt, but the MJ starts fine now but i have a grindin problem still and i know it's comin from the starter i just can't figure out what's wrong with it, weather it's too far in, bolted up too tight or too lose, i'm just waitin for a none rainy day (maybe this weekend) that i can play with the starter and bleed my clutch cly again since gravity bleedin doesn't work, Redwolf -
i was wonderin if there was a couple folks with 86 comanche (unless AMC didn't change much over 6 years of the MJs) with an all stock MJ, no mods, everything the way it came straight of the dealer back in the day that could post some pictures or videos of how the MJ looked back then, i have a red 86 MJ with a tan interier and i'm tryin to slowly restore it to factory stock, everything from the outside and inside, even the rusting floor boards and shot bench seat, any help would greatly be apperciated, Redwolf

Cranks But won't Turn Over
redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well good news, i got the starter in, and the truck starts, makes a loud grindin noise on start up though but i think the cly was my dryin problem cause the coil is good, fuel system and as perfect as perfect gets, but what could be causin the grindin noise, could the starter be to tight or to loosely bolted up? redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah i learned that when i took it to advance to have it tested, turns out the stud that one of the wires goes to on the cly somehow got backed out enough to not make the starter engage, i'm waitin till it cools off to install the starter and see what happens, i still have yet to find out why my MJ died multiple times a week ago, Redwolf -
Cranks But won't Turn Over
redwolf624 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well bad news folks, i now have a MJ that won't even make and effort to start, the battery is good and charged when i turn the key to on i get all my lights but when i go to start it i get a loud THUNK and all the lights are gone, i did have my starter sittin in the sun all day yesterday and today so could that have fried it? Redwolf -
it's put back together right, but it won't crank over probably due to the dead battery and i don't have enough tranny fluid in the tranny so i need to buy more payday, Redwolf
